I might be missing something here. I see people buying junk cards, perhaps to feed to their main cards.
Wouldn’t you need to risk your own card as well while battling just to get the card you’re buying from another player?
Do you keep battling them until you reacquire the cards you lost in previous battles as well?

Yes, depend on what cards you have, generally keep a junk card to do that battle.
This will depend on who you are dealing with, chances are, you might get a scam and end up at the forums crying about it.
In all honesty, the safest way is doing yourself dun 50, WBs and trying your luck in missions/Saalus for these cards.
