Archer motion cancel

looks like a similar thing to bunny hopping … which makes auto attacks faster …

what do you guys think ?

I think it’s a good thing. It promotes micro and ups the skill ceiling of players. Considering how most MMOs are just click and wait for crap to die, this I think is a good way of making the game less boring. It’ll probably cause you carpal tunnel syndrome in the long run though. Lol,

Agreed with you though my latency will surely be ~200-400 so won’t be able to do much micro control. I will most likely only play the “classic way” :cry:

Not sure if it’s correct to call it orbwalking or stutterstepping since ToS isn’t mouse controlled, but it’s a common practice in action RPGs/MOBAs. Fine by me, as it doesn’t look utterly silly like bunnyhopping did.

It’s called animation cancelling. And ToS IS mouse controlled. Well, you can choose if you want it to be mouse controlled or keyboard controlled or gamepad controlled.

I remember IMC said something about this.
They said this is something they won’t fix (soon) as they want to reward the player who has high APM, but they also said this could make player stressed and tired.

Sorry, I meant originally. My bad. None of the gameplay i’d seen up until now had mouse control and they only mentioned putting it in as a possibility.

It’s fine. I think they only mentioned it once anyway. So I don’t think a lot of people know about it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Kinda cool anyway, promotes micro training. And I’m quite sure that I saw a video with mouse control. I’ll look for it.

This term is called “Orb Walking” in some MOBAs.
Here is an example (kind of hard to see at first glance).

The complain from some former-testers is actually how this will affect the mechanic, not gameplay control. Somehow at higher level, this can discourage people to use/rely build on active skills as motion cancel attack gives better dps.

IMC actually HAVE been considering to address this issue, stating that they will probably erase this or limit this (eg: giving stamina cost). Look at the last CBT Q&A

if your use to playing mobas then this should be really easy for you :<. i play LoL and hots, so now that i’ve seen you can do this i might play archer

So… How do you exactly do it? I haven’t played much MOBAs so I can’t relate.

Is it like, attack then manually move?

you click to attack then click a position on the map then attack again. so the attack missile will go off faster then sitting still and letting you auto attack

  1. Give an attack command.
  2. After the missile is fired, give a movement command, canceling the remainder of the attack animation.
  3. Give an attack command …

The attack animation may take up 1 second, but the missile is fired before the whole animation completes; so by issuing a move command, you don’t have to wait for the rest of the animation to finish before attacking again.

Is this only possible on the mouse controls?

Oh yeah, I forgot I did this too when I was peer pressured to learn how to play DoTA huehuehue
