API access to some game server data

It would be so so sweet to have some kind of API for accessing char/map info. Imagine, a mobile friendly web app that could serve as a live map of you, your party, and your guild. And chat! Mobile auction house access (even just read only would be great)! Give us an API please.

I understand the constraints would be fairly large, it’d probably have to use a per account api key generation process, but oAuth could be implemented for that.

There’s probably more than a few web developers who grew up playing RO and would jump at the chance to build something interesting.

If you mean I can chat with friend in-game using a browser. Yes, I’m totally up for that.

API access would mean that the game developers create some special doors in the server that can be accessed in certain specific ways. For instance, they could make it so that a web developer could write a script that could access a raw chat feed and also be able to send messages providing the user has somehow logged in.

Other opportunities are web access to the auction house, or some kind of char directory. The possibilities are only limited by how much access they decide to (or not to) give us, and then by however much time web developers like me (and I’m sure some others) are able to put in.

I think mobile access to the auction house could be a big hit.

+1 I’m all for an API.

Though I don’t think it’s something that’ll be this early in their plans, but hopefully @TOSTeam takes a look at this

An API would be awesome indeed.
Anyway, if IMC don’t do it, I guess some people is going to develop something for it, but that would be better if we have an official API.

Could be very useful, but API should be an opt-in thing, where players have to give each other a key to access their inventory details, location, equipment, class, etc. otherwise I see it as being abusable if PvP comes into play - you could make a map of all players and their builds in your PvP arena to gain an advantage or something along those lines.

It would be nice though. You’d be able to create a player widget for your websites/forums like Final Fantasy XIV’s Lodestone which is a really neat and useful tool for guilds and players alike. It would also allow achievements to be hosted on this site, if they go down that route. The possibilities are endless.

sure as long every user is recognizeable.

It would be cool to have an external service that creates character armories and forum signatures like in WoW fansites

@FatePGN: we already finished several tool plans for those things

an API would be helpful, but we can also do it without ^^

@vegax87: prepare for something nice

You mean like adding some smartphone applications that would complete somehow your game experience during and after your play?

Like you say, chat (why no access to guild chat even when not logged in the game?) or auction house panel. Some databases as well could be interesting.

And why not some unique smartphone/game features like the Wii U controler?

@Gardosen Now you have our attention

They already have rights that include mobile and console platforms

Btw, I would really appreciate to play this game in my phone just by accessing the same server as international server. Or even, maybe they could add the game with wireless controller feature.

You have my attention

I don’t wanna disappoint you for now. but Flash and me will post news as soon as we finished the general plan. currently there is just a rough plan and first tests.

as soon as we can show something, you all will see them on tosbase.com

Kind regards

Would be really nice to get api access to some things for guild sites (like equipment/class info). :3

I don’t see it happening though, very few games bother making an api.

without is always special, i guess you know, what i mean.

@Gardosen

I like your site, what’s your architecture?

I’ve been working on one in my freetime based on Angularjs, MongoDB using Laravel as a backend framework. Mostly as a means of becoming better with all 3 and taking steps towards getting my MEAN stack together.
