Maybe a year down the road we could worry about adding more features to the housing part of the game. I think if anything though it would just be greater customization to your guild house… or maybe an exterior garden. Don’t see why you would want to do something like what FFXIV has not sure it would fit very well. And it’d be huge development cost to do something like UO.
It’s not the right time to discuss about a deeper housing system, you’re right.
We’re just giving some thoughts and advices, since IMC gave little infos about ToS’ housing system.
For info, I just mention FFXIV because its housing system is pretty good. Huge amount of work obviously. The solution may not be the same formula, maybe something lighter, but it stays something to study
housing has its place in the MMO genre and is one facet that could be touched on later. Housing systems allow you to do all kinds of stuff. you can have trophies, put armor sets in there. you can invite friends there. you can store gear there. crafters can make furniture for the house etc. its just another part of immersion into a role playing game. its appealing to some people to others its not. same thing goes for pvp, crafting, dungeons, etc. no body is hung up on anything. people like to go afk outside of imaginary towns and imaginary countrysides all day. if the house is imaginary so is the entire game and the mount you are using. i see people in hubs just /emoting nonstop for no reason. i asked if there was going to be housing in the game, not “why are we all here” or universe pondering questions about the meaning of why ppl do what they do. thanks again for another useless post.
@Arukado thanks for the info about the lodge, i didnt know about that! honestly a place to store gear etc is cool enough for me.
@PrinceMark crop stealing would be cool! but that would be even cooler if they had a theft penalty if you got caught hah.
The topic was housing i asked why people like it because i don’t understand the interest and Arukado gave me some reasons why others like it.
So i asked a question related to your topic get off your high horse. You don’t need to rant over a on topic question.
@thebloodyaugust you have a history of posting prickish replies son. you got on my radar for posting prickish replies to 3 different threads of mine. So you are on my radar maggot! i am going to be on you like white on rice! i’m glad this forum lets us view past post history. ill be on you till you shape up or ship out son!
I’ll be honest, player housing is such a dumb thing for any game to have. We’re past that type of game content. That stuff is overly used in the last 2 years. Its the definition of boring game content.
The reason why i dislike it is because housing is literally a split second fun. Once you build your dream house or layout that is it. What happens after that is, people will ask for more items for housing. It is a waste of time/money for the developer to constantly supply the demand for the community. I’d rather they spend that time/money to balance PvP/characters and create more content;be it raids/dungeons/GvG/WoE or something new, innovative.
If you want to build a house go play Minecraft or something with building a house.
P.S. I don’t have a problem with the lounge, in-fact i actually like how its just a place for characters/companions.
TLDR: Screw player housing. Its boring and waste of developer’s time!
EDIT: I However don’t have a problem with Guild housing. Just not personal player Housing. Guild housing makes sense because its a place for guild members to chat/meet. Maybe i should specify. Personal housing is a no-go. Guild housing is a thumbs up for me.
I disagree. The more “adequate” content a game has, the more happy the players are.
I mean, no one wants an empty game. Housing is an optional feature, like GvG or the Card Game.
Keep in mind that Housing can be a very good money sink feature, that’s a plus in a MMORPG.
It may be boring just because it’s obviously less dynamic than a boss fight
But you don’t have to like all the features ofc.
Personal Housing & Guild Housing are alikes. You can meet people in personal Housing too, you can discover more interesting ideas of interiors (and chat about them) because each player has its own view, whereas a guild house is most likely a mix of every guildmates’ idea (everyone wouldn’t be happy).
For now, we’re just a bunch of junkies in need, desperately begging for more infos xD
Housing is also a good oppurtinity for cash shop stuff. I hope not everything about the housing system will be cash shop related but I still don’t mind if some nice decorations only avaible through that.
Don’t understand how asking a question about the topic is prickish but whatever strokes your ego.
So what you’re saying is, a game is not adequate if it does not have a housing system, thus its an empty game…?
I don’t see how that makes any sense though. There are plenty of successful games that doesn’t have housing system. I agree housing is an optional feature but lets be honest, housing does not have an impact in any way except for personal pleasure. The Card game actually has an impact in the game (Well not the game itself), the cards actually have a game play mechanic for certain classes. Where as, you get furniture/items for housing… pretty sure you can’t use that for anything within the game besides your house.
Housing is not a good money sink, it is only a money sink if you choose to “Hardcore” it. Nobody in the right mind is going to spend 1billion silver (Or all their fortune) to buy a boss drop furniture when you can buy/upgrade something with that money. Never has that happened, In-fact i have played a player housing type of game, its called Wildstar. Nobody spends massive amount of money to buy rare housing items, only those .01% hardcore housing users that cant reach end game but managed to get enough to buy it. (THEY BOUGHT GOLD, TRUTH) Heck, in Wildstar there weren’t many players that bothered with housing. (Maybe plop a few things on the land and call it a day, not a lot actually bothered to make it SUPER AMAZING)
Also, I don’t have a problem with guild housing because you actually meet people you may not know. Personal housing is literally for yourself and… maybe for your friends…? Why on earth would your friends be in your personal housing when they got their own… Even then, why the heck are you meeting in a house if you plan on doing something? Makes more sense to meet up at a teleport statue and if you want to chat, whisper or use a voip to chat. 21st century, there is no reason for you to not have a microphone… >.>
P.S. There are plenty of FREE Voip to use, no excuse about it.
TLDR: No no and no, waste of developer’s time and resources! Please don’t have housing in Tree of Savior!
Not at all. I’m saying what I said: that no one want to see an empty game.
Housing is ONE feature (as well as the GvG feature, the Card Game feature, etc…) that can be useful to add content to the game. By “adequate”, I mean content that suits well to the universe of a game (i.e. you wouldn’t see a airplane mini-game in a medieval game).
Plus, Housing, Companions, Attributes are very good money sinks. Using these tools is the “Hardcore mode” you mentioned, because you can still play without using them… But then you’re missing a lot of the whole gameplay value.
Personal housing is litteraly for yourself and your friend, true. But it can “reach” more people, depending on how the system is made: if you can visit freely all the houses or not, on a dedicated map or not,…
BTW, like ZeroTigress said earlier in this thread, IMC said that there will be a housing system, apparently based on the decorative lodges. No more infos yet.
Nooo, screw housing system! Can’t believe they are bothering to make housing system. What a waste of time and resources. I am disappointed in IMC. Very disappointed. I’m gonna hope they scrap the housing and work on other better content. >.> Just saying!
Obliviously it shouldn’t be a priority but i see no reason why it couldn’t be added after launch for those interested in it.
I think the Lodge system is meant to double as both the housing system and the mailbox system, seeing as you can leave messages in other people’s Lodges. I suppose it would cut down on spam messages, but it would make it a little tricky to send stuff to offline people.
If we can send items via the mailbox, I wonder if it will reduce the item potential too…
It’d be neat if they can make it so item mail appear as packages on your Lodge’s front door. Would be rather amusing to log in and see 30+ packages piled on your front door to indicate all the items you’ve received.
And if another player visits your lodge while you’re out, he can steal your mail?
I thought lodges were supposed to add conveniences not inconveniences such as having to travel back to get the things i have purchased or people stealing them.
If they implement proper mailboxes to get stuff, you’d have to run back to town to pick them up. Having mail get delivered to your Lodge is actually more convenient since all you’d have to do is log out of your character to get to your Lodge.
I’m going to take a guess and assume the people hating on the Lodge don’t know that it’s part of the character selection screen and not an in-game feature.
No earlier FF14 was used as a example so i was thinking of housing in game like the example not the lodge log in. No one has specified differently so i continued on the line of conversation.
