there any plans for player housing in this game?

The lodge is customizable I think.
Iād like to see some housing business in ToS⦠But IMO it seems to be an inappropriate feature for a 2.5D game.
It may not be as complete and practical as in other 3D MMORPG (FFXIV, ArcheAge,ā¦).
The lodge isnāt customizable, you can only change it to bigger ones (more characters).
But some elements of customization (as well as a yard for farming, if itās suitable for ToS) may be a welcomed idea.
As I know and remember the lodge will be customizeable and they even said we will be able to visit eachothers lodge. So thatās our housing system.
@Arukado I donāt understand why would it be in any way inappropriate. I think there were some 2D games with housing feature in the past. Itās not even something that mmos created. Not the best example but just remember sims social.
So youāre comparing the MMO housing with the sims social⦠A dead-simulation facebook game (not the best example, youāre right xD)⦠Joke aside.
You know that housing in a MMO is slightly different than it is in the Sims, right?
You usually need materials, recipes, allocated space, etc⦠So it needs a lot more of content, which apparently is NOT one of main concerns about ToS from the devs. Iām saying that because we donāt have a SINGLE PART of a housing system right now (choosing a bigger lodge isnāt housing).
I repeat but Iād like to see a housing feature, more content about that⦠But it sadly seems (for now) impossibleā¦
If you want to fully customize your own lodge, youāll need a different storage system than it actually is (means that we need an account storage ^^)ā¦
And if you want a real housing mode, with a dedicated map, and different sized spots (for players or guildsā¦), it need a lot more work tooā¦
Thatās why I say it looks inappropriate for ToS. For now. But maybe in a few years !! It can be refreshing ^^
The Lodge IS the housing system. Just because itās not functioning the way you want it to, that doesnāt negate the fact that itās TOSās housing system. Having another housing system in the game is redundant.
The developers said players will eventually be able to decorate it and even change the default house you get to something else (you can see hints of this in the Lodge screen if you poked around a bit).
From the storage and recipe aspect I understand more your concerns but you said āitās inappropriate for a 2.5D gameā when there were 2D games too that had some housing features and sims was the example for that⦠It doesnāt matter if itās 2D or 3Dā¦or 2.5D⦠housing is possible.
Also here is the Q&A where they said you can decorate it:
I dunno if they mentioned it on other blog posts too but itās already there here soI wonāt look for it⦠
Inappropriate doesnāt mean impossible.
My bad then, I must had said āseems to be inappropriate for ToSā, speaking of the traditionnal housing system.
Ntl, it would be cool to see some housing aspects⦠But thereās still none right nowā¦
Like every ToSā ābig concernā, we just have to wait the final release to truly be able to argue ^^
Wait & see
(So itās not a matter of how I want it to be, I donāt care, itās just a personnal feeling, keep cool ZeroKitty
)
I was simply addressing your premature assertion that thereās no customizability with Lodges when in fact the basic structures for that is already in the game. IMC just doesnāt have much in the way of customizations yet since the game is still in beta.
Why are people and games so hung up on housing systems now a days? Like if it is implemented or not doesnāt really bother me, i just donāt understand the appeal. Do you just sit in your imaginary house all day?
It depends on the housing system.
Look the guild housing (i.e. in FFXIV). You can do a lot of useful things: farming/storage/personnal buystore/⦠inside your āhomeā, with your āfamilyā⦠Itās a really good social aspect, giving you a deeper feeling of moving forward with your guildmate, to build āsomethingā.
Because weāre not yet in a VRMMO too (for Yurika/SAO/LogH fans).
Of course it has to stay an optional feature, itās not The Sims
I bought my own house back when only guilds could. So my personal house was a guild house. Didnāt use it except for the farm to change my chocobos colors when that became available.
So i used the garden and stable. But you know if i coulda did it with out a house i would have lol.
Thatās a particular case, because you used a guild house for one player (you)ā¦
Maybe a year down the road we could worry about adding more features to the housing part of the game. I think if anything though it would just be greater customization to your guild house⦠or maybe an exterior garden. Donāt see why you would want to do something like what FFXIV has not sure it would fit very well. And itād be huge development cost to do something like UO.
Itās not the right time to discuss about a deeper housing system, youāre right.
Weāre just giving some thoughts and advices, since IMC gave little infos about ToSā housing system.
For info, I just mention FFXIV because its housing system is pretty good. Huge amount of work obviously. The solution may not be the same formula, maybe something lighter, but it stays something to study
housing has its place in the MMO genre and is one facet that could be touched on later. Housing systems allow you to do all kinds of stuff. you can have trophies, put armor sets in there. you can invite friends there. you can store gear there. crafters can make furniture for the house etc. its just another part of immersion into a role playing game. its appealing to some people to others its not. same thing goes for pvp, crafting, dungeons, etc. no body is hung up on anything. people like to go afk outside of imaginary towns and imaginary countrysides all day. if the house is imaginary so is the entire game and the mount you are using. i see people in hubs just /emoting nonstop for no reason. i asked if there was going to be housing in the game, not āwhy are we all hereā or universe pondering questions about the meaning of why ppl do what they do. thanks again for another useless post.
@Arukado thanks for the info about the lodge, i didnt know about that! honestly a place to store gear etc is cool enough for me.
@PrinceMark crop stealing would be cool! but that would be even cooler if they had a theft penalty if you got caught hah.
The topic was housing i asked why people like it because i donāt understand the interest and Arukado gave me some reasons why others like it.
So i asked a question related to your topic get off your high horse. You donāt need to rant over a on topic question.
@thebloodyaugust you have a history of posting prickish replies son. you got on my radar for posting prickish replies to 3 different threads of mine. So you are on my radar maggot! i am going to be on you like white on rice! iām glad this forum lets us view past post history. ill be on you till you shape up or ship out son!
Iāll be honest, player housing is such a dumb thing for any game to have. Weāre past that type of game content. That stuff is overly used in the last 2 years. Its the definition of boring game content.
The reason why i dislike it is because housing is literally a split second fun. Once you build your dream house or layout that is it. What happens after that is, people will ask for more items for housing. It is a waste of time/money for the developer to constantly supply the demand for the community. Iād rather they spend that time/money to balance PvP/characters and create more content;be it raids/dungeons/GvG/WoE or something new, innovative.
If you want to build a house go play Minecraft or something with building a house.
P.S. I donāt have a problem with the lounge, in-fact i actually like how its just a place for characters/companions.
TLDR: Screw player housing. Its boring and waste of developerās time!
EDIT: I However donāt have a problem with Guild housing. Just not personal player Housing. Guild housing makes sense because its a place for guild members to chat/meet. Maybe i should specify. Personal housing is a no-go. Guild housing is a thumbs up for me.
