Any 2H Spear Cata C3 > Dragoon here? What's your R2 & R3 picks?

I’m really considering taking Hop C1 for R3 because Finestra is too good to ignore, but am not sure for R2.

Highlander is out of the question since it’s mostly attack skills which I think later on will be deemed useless on a cooldown rotation basis by skills from higher ranks.

I’m leaning towards Peltasta (vs Sword C2) for utility, especially when partying, but have a few questions:

  • Does Swash Buckling’s provocation bonus disappear as soon as I switch back to a 2H spear?

  • For Sword C2, is Restrain any good at just level 5 (20% stun chance)?

TIA

Edit: I’m thinking of building this for PVE than PVP (maybe situational) as I already have an Archer for that purpose. (thanks for the heads up @Lostac)

You forgot to mention if you want to pvp or pve, or both

Sword C2 has little uses for PVE.

Pelt>Hop>Cata 3>Drag is pretty popular for a PVE cata.

Thanks, edited my post, and you confirmed my assumption w/ going Pelt.

Sorry, a few followup questions for you:

  • Would this build be PVP-viable if I went Sword C2?

  • What’s the best, common, or usual stat build for a PVE Catagoon? What about for PVP (unless they’re the same)?

TIA again

A little, but the difference of Restrain 5 and 10 isn’t only the stun chance, the uptime for restrain Lv 5 is very low.

Going Sword 2 means you have 1 circle left for Pelt or Hoplite. Hoplite gives you two handy offensive tools, finestra AND early 1H spear usage.

Pelt is pelt, no real explanation needed there.

For stat distribution it’s really hard to balance out, but definitely for pvp, a very high con cataphract with some dex accuracy will piss off an enemy team.

For PVE somewhere around 50-100 con, and maybe 2 str:1 dex since you have a low level finestra.

Very informative. Thanks man.

Sorry, had another question come up: Is straight Sword C3 > Cata C3 > Dragoon good compared to having Pelt C1 and/or Hop C1 in the mix?

Higher uptime for Pain Barrier and Restrain seems great. Pommel Beat & Double Slash, even with just a point each, appears helpful on paper.

I’m going for more of a mobile tank role and took Pelt 1 and Pelt 2.

4:2:2 STR, CON, DEX

Sword 3 > Cata 3 is more of a PVP focused variant

You can tank, but you have limited number of monsters that you can aggro without swash. You lose out on blocking- which is a bit okay if you are going to pvp, but blocking really helps on pve.

Just make an all arounder pvp/pve

Sw1>Pelt1>Hoplite1>CataC3>Dragoon
