Anti-Bot Action Reports and Statistics needed

IMC, we’ve been very patient and busting our asses off reporting through all loops you’ve deemed required.

We post in the forums, upload videos (it’s not easy), and report using your in-game bot system.
But many of us are getting burned out. Where are the results of our efforts?

If you could release some statement, some report, some statistics on what YOU’RE doing, please do.
Because right now, we don’t see any change.
And our love for this game and community can only be strained so much.

You don’t see any change because for every 1 bot they ban 3 more are created. If you are expecting a bot-free game you should quit now. There is no such thing as a bot-free MMO.

I don’t really mind the bots as much as whatever they are using to attack from cross map. If they fix that it becomes bearable. I can figure out how to deal with having botters around but it is another thing entirely if they can be two rooms away and still kill the mob I am working on.

Not to mention I have never seen a game with as much of a bot density as this game.

I still see bots in nearly every lv100+ map though. If the bots are being dealt with in a timely manner as per our reports then they wouldn’t be that level or higher. We have tons of Chaplain bots still running around 150+ maps >.>

I agree it would be nice to see some information, or at the very least a GM who is on even 1/10 the length the average player is online, so that we know things are happening and being dealt with. But I don’t think we need to as badly as OP stressed it.

Someone mentioned before in a different thread a while back that it feels like the Report Bot feature is placebo. It kind of feels like it =(

Ok, say IMC decides to throw all the pretty numbers and stats at the community. What changes? Is the community suddenly going to be invigorated? Is everyone who was planning on quitting, whether it’s reporting bots or ToD in general, now going to continue playing with the mindset of “we’re going to keep reporting bots because IMC says it’s working!”

You already said it here, the community hasn’t seen any change. Pretend they release some statistics today. Even if IMC truly has banned a large percentage of the bots, the players will still see bots around who are hindering their progression. The statistics that IMC hypothetically released will be seen as PR and nothing else. Nothing changes. This thread serves no purpose other than to rile up forumers and make them raise their pitchforks at IMC. Many players already view IMC negatively and this doesn’t help. The only thing that will make the “unhappy” players regain their trust in IMC is if all the bots disappear forever, and that’s never going to happen.

Masamune, Porpoise, you misinterpret the point of the thread.

Let’s break it down:

  1. Bots are a reality, yes. Did we say we expect a bot-free environment? No.
  2. Some players are investing effort into doing their part. Not all of them though. Let’s assume an easy figure like… 50% reporters, 25% bots, 25% abstain.
  3. As the weeks roll on, that 50% will go down. Why?
Let’s make is simple. Suppose of that 50%, 1/5 do not experience any change. They get burned out and ultimately don’t bother reporting anymore. Now you have 40% reporters. And then after a bit, another 1/5 down. Then it dwindles until the point where the tool is essentially useless.

How do you encourage people to keep trucking on?

  1. Reward them with some prize. Bad idea because positive feedback loops are horrible in practice.
  2. Hope in your hearts that they’re made of sterner stuff. It could work, maybe?
  3. Eradicate 100% bots. No. Not gonna happen. The measures needed to do that is either too expensive financially or morally.
  4. Open the IMC efforts to scrutiny. Show us something that would let us say, “Hmm from experience this is correct, so they must be doing their job” or “Nope, I know that part. Definitely a lie”

In the end, it’s about open communication here. Don’t assume people will be fine. They’re apparently not as strong as some of you. The others, they want some confirmation, even a little.
