Tree of Savior Forum

Another Goodbye post

Ok, after plenty of days playing I’m letting go this game, every hour playing I found more and more reasons to hate the game, i’d like to share with you my final impressions.

  • Gameplay is closer to Diablo than Ragnarok, lots of pew pew, it’s less at high levels but it’s still FAR from the Ragnarok feeling.

  • Completely discourages the social aspect of the game, most of the game is easily soloed, trading is dead, market is slow AF, crafting classes are but a shadow of what they could be.

  • Class system design is horrible and lacks sense, Swordman into ninja? Check. Elementalist that focuses on only 2 elements? Check.

  • Skills are poorly designed bugged and even worse, descriptions suck balls to the point of not describing the skill at all. Skills not worth taking? Check. Skills that become useless because there is better skill that does the same? Check. Misleading skills descriptions leading into bad skill point usage? Check.

  • Itemization is awful. Items like daggers that completely outshine every other weapon election for several levels, if not, for the entire game.

  • Stupid restrictions like guild requirement for a high level swordman that has to give away the last rank of his build to create a guid. (Because forming a guild is a templar thing, and not a people being together thing) (more dead social aspect and stupid class design).

  • TERRIBLE ENEMIES AI, the game challenge is equal to a cellphone tap game, highest difficulty comes from ridiculous numbers rather than actual skill at playing the game.

  • Bad map collisions, several places where the world does NOT MATCH at all with the collisions, and several places where the collisions are weird and you keep getting semi stuck.

  • AWFUL CODING. Delay adds charge time to each step of a skill charge? Check. Lags increases your auto attack speed even if you keep the key hold? Check.

  • Grinding is boring there is no challenge.

  • Quest design is, with few exceptions, awful. 40 Seconds digging earth to get only 1 ore, out of 20, and repeat the quest 4 times for a total of 100 ores?

  • Exp cards are a ■■■■ excuse to justify the stupid experience per level curve.

  • Shitty dungeon restriction

  • Awful boss drop design.

  • Orsha Storage girl does not offer additional services.

I think I’m missing many points I’v discovered these days, but game became just too boring to continue, Ragnarok used to be fun in so many ways this game just totally misses… venturing into dangerous zones to level effectively, requiring parties to be able to grind good places, dying while leveling was a real threat on every level, leveling your merchant was hard but rewarding, etc.

The “solo pew pew and enjoy something a little different at high level” is not what anyone would seek on a Ragnarok spiritual successor, so far, the only thing they successfully got from Ragnarok is the art style, and I must say old enemies art style was much better than this childish boss design we got everywhere.

Game is not really doomed, but’s it’s not really what it was expected to be.

TL;DR
Game is just a diablo with ragnarok art style and korean mmo grinding. Social aspect is DEAD. Game design is dumb.

rubs fingers together im playing the worlds smallest violin

Tree of Savior != Ragnarok
Tree of Savior != Diablo

Most of your disappointment comes from your high expectation of the game.

I’m too tired but I’ll point one of your bad points:

They implement exp cards to encourage questing. There are also good grind spots if you like to go that route. Not that many but your point is way too extreme.

Anyway, you’re leaving so there is no point in arguing. If you do, you’re a troll. Bye!

Your complains dont make sense when saying ragnarok was fun.

  • class system makes general steps. thats ok as ninjas obviously cant be created from wizards, clerics, or pure ranged basis
  • skills not worth taking or become useless. hello frostbolt after aquiring stormgust? wth is kyrie, i got assumptio?
  • items throughout ragnarok had no by level design at all, and power came from cards that were randomly distributed among mobs.
  • ai? why even bother with that, there is no ai in diablo or ragnarok too
  • awful coding, have you tried chaos effect WITHOUT turning of effect on a machine newer direct x 7? impossible to play
  • grinding in ragnarok: no challange
  • quests in ragnarok: READ carefully and do stuff that makes no sense at all

dont compare it and say its indifferent when you list points that are exactly the same

Goodness, if you want that RO feeling, play RO…

ToS may have been related to RO, but ToS is a different game by itself. As far as I know it isnt really marketed as a sequel of RO.

As if RO didn’t have “boring” grinding and “awful” quest design.

I do agree on the shitty dungeon restriction, Korea has 5 runs while we are stuck with 3 if you are token user.

just quit and keep your
mental garbage for yourself

Why are people so hostile ? The guy is correct in most of his points, I dont like these “Goodbye you suck” topic but he is right. Not comparing this game to any others, it is undeniable that this game has great basic groundwork but shitty configuration built upon.

They started with the great idea of class diversity and then nerfed/patched all of those to hell.

Crafting is terribly executed right now
Experience/leveling is weird in a negative way
Damage formula is a lol, additive instead of multiplicative is just plain lazy
Weapon system is fked with the dagger thing, also need more utility effect instead of just addinng extra number on weapon.

Instead of chasing after player demand and try to please every little whiners, IMC need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, how all their pieces fit together, at the moment it is a big mess.

*waves goodbye

At least he has a brain to leave the game that he hates. Why dont you follow him too? And show us that you too have one.

What lv did you get too?

I believe this beautiful moment should always be accompanied with the proper imagery:

@OP
I appreciate the neatness of your post; I don’t entirely agree with you but I hope you appreciate the world’s saddest song played on the world’s smallest violin :sunglasses:

au revoir, sayonara, paalam, goodbye~!

“Orsha Storage girl does not offer additional services.”

She has a great rack though

I know, it’s a terrible thing when someone has high expectations for a game

In defence of OP, XP cards just make leveling a pain as you are bound to run into progression walls if used incorrectly. I don’t understand what’s wrong with designing the game to give xp at quest turn-in and properly tune the game so progression walls are not a thing in the game. I have a feeling they added xp cards because of the awkward xp reset levels, so as you don’t waste XP from a quest if you could have leveled by just killing a single enemy. The whole game is just awkward to tell the truth, it’s like a big design experiment all the way from class design to leveling.

I’m still here everyday, I see the same glaring flaws he does. Hell I’ve talked about them quite a lot. Too many of you kids are haters. Every one of you should be liking the post and just agreeing.

And just in-case you are reading this thread OP, hope you give the game a shot again sometime in the future, once the game is fixed. No idea how long that will be, but hopefully less than a year.

AND don’t mind the idiots on these forums, they’ll probably be playing an empty game sooner rather than later. The peak just this week alone dropped by 10k players… so yeah, keep encouraging people to leave, great job toxics.

The Game is not Complete!
