Another dopp, build inquiry. Corsair or Barbarian

Hi, i’m here once again contemplating what to do with my build.

After seeing the weakness of my first swordsman build on jtos, sword3-pelt1-h1 (too many buffs, no auto switching of taunt), I decided to reroll another character; I’m at swordsman 3 at the moment, there’s no doubt I would take highlander 1 after sw3, but my question is for the rank 5, corsair or barbarian.

While most of the argument I’ve looked at the forums, taking barbarian is mostly for the slash damage of cleave. While I do know that 50% additional slash damage is huge, I have doubts on the duration of the debuff, how long does it even stay for? Looking at the recent barbarian buffs too, I feel bad since it’s mostly focused on Barbarian 2-3 to effectively work, I can make helm chopper as a filler stun if my restrain is down, and stomping kick would be good if I get close in pvp.

Taking corsair with the recent buffs would take time to reach Jtos, Jolly roger can be a semi support for archers/mages, and pillage passive is really good for farming, and iron hook for pvp.

While majority of dopps I’ve seen with a similar build take barbarian 1, what are your thoughts in the alternate build taking corsair 1?

if i remember correctly, cleave has at least 5 seconds debuff and the skill has 3 overheat…so thats 15 sec of debuff…but its unrealistic to use in pvp cuz you i would rather use a high dmg skill than apply a debuff…your enemy wont be standing like a pole in pvp

i think you’re better off taking corsair…cuz hook+keel hauling could help you put your target at melee range for you to use your cyclone

also if your taking highlander just because of the crt attack passive…its doesnt really add that much dmg, especially if your dex type, since str is what improves crt attack, if im not mistaken it only improves the crt attack you see at your F1, which would be below 100 if you dont have str but if you just need a filler for rank 4, i guess highlander or barb would be the two option u have

New weapons and gems are affected.

Gems and New weapon adds like 470 per slot and weapons add like 500… so… go figure.

It’s not a noob trap tbh it’s a late investment.

if you are taking dop 3 without barb. it’s asking for a smacking on PVE.

PVP on the other hand lulz why are you rolling a PVE orientated toon for PVP spec.

Well, i won’t argue that swordman sucks at pvp as for what I’ve experienced at Itos, hey man anything can happen especially if jtos has archer as the rank 1 atm.

You do realize that whole archer concept from JTOS rank 1 is build around PVP right?

That’s is a actually specific cater build for PVP and Clerics + Sages are still storming in TBL. Also trasncend make TBL pointless.

Unless it’s 2v2 cheese lucky pick it’s extremely hard to get into top 5 anyway. With PVE cater builds.

Sadly You can’t have the best of both worlds.

Yeah I know, it’s not like I’ll try hard and be the best pvper using swordman, nor would I build another class just to excel at pvp. I just want to have a fun char that I can play casually. If it’s ■■■■ on pvp then that’s fine.

then by all means pick barb at least 1 rank of it. The cleave damage is too good to pass.
