Another bot/hack found

  • Server : Orsha

  • Team Name : Keepo and KappaKeepo

  • Location : Namu temple Ruins

  • Approximate date / time (EDT) : 5:35 pm

  • Evidence

Dual boting, both characters perfectly synchronised, attacking at the same time, having the exact same name. (which clued me in)

I’ve seem this person, he said he’s using Double Client to Play. Is this legal? Like, he’s using 2 accounts to play, ok. But the problem is that both accounts are mirrored, moving and attacking at the same Time… fair?

I don’t think so, that’s why I’m posting that here. The mods will decide.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I’ll need to take a look into this matter.

@STAFF_Ethan Here’s the person in action, he plays with a Streamer i follow on Twitch.

Okay man, we need to know some soft “which we all know name” is allowed or not?

imagine, you buy game 2-5 times, you use it for uself with no botting. U get money - i get fun with “sort of playing in strategy”

its allowed or not? 18 days u get attention into this matter.

I am the person in question of botting in this thread. Someone just brought this thread to my attention so I have not been able to defend myself before now.

I believe I am being falsely accused of “botting”. Several players in game have also attempted to grief me due to “botting” out of ignorance of what botting actually is. Botting by definition is the automation of actions such that your character is being controlled by a script instead of an actual person at the keyboard.

In my situation, I am using 2 separate computers (different MAC/IPS) with 2 separate steam accounts. I am using a hardware KVM switch to connect a single keyboard to both computers and am manually sending each individual input to the computers (not using any macros or scripts). Prior to early release and a few days ago, I checked the Terms of Service and there is nothing against

  1. Owning more than 1 account
  2. Operating more than 1 account at a time
  3. Using a Hardware or Software device tool that connects a single keyboard to multiple computers that does not violate any of the terms listed in the terms of service

If the Tree of Savior team believes my actions to be unfair and chooses to modify the Terms of Service to clearly state that such actions are not allowed, or makes an official statement that such actions are not allowed, then I will desist and stop controlling two accounts at the same time.

As of now, I am still operating my accounts in accordance to the given terms and have not been told otherwise by an IMC staff or GM and do not believe I am in any wrong.

The solution would be you choose one of the accounts and lose the other. People will complain over and over again, no matter if you explain here in the forum, they’ll find it unfair and are going to report.

Or you just could make 2 character of same type and you dont have to remember anything, lol.

Ah… Um… Hm…

I honestly don’t know how I feel about this. Basically, as blunt as it is, the only reason people will hate this is because A.) It looks like botting, B.) Because they feel it’s morally incorrect to do it, or C.) Because they don’t have two computers and/or the money to do this themselves… Also option D.) All of the above.

Putting my own morals aside… Fact is, though, you’re not violating the rules, and you have a way to prove it by explaining your process via video to the GMs demonstrating what you’re doing (you’re probably gonna get bugged with requests from the technologically-inept players now, too, though). If they change the rules thereafter, then so be it. Considering you said you’ll abide by such changes to the rules, if they happen, then I see nothing wrong here. Of course my opinion won’t matter here, but it’s also a thin line…

There’s also the factor that if the staff starts putting up restrictions on “unfair advantages” because of people actually having the money to do things with their hardware, then they’re going to be putting on several more restrictions thereafter…

Good luck, man. Although, really, if they were going to punish you, they probably would have done so by now. They’ve most likely determined that you’re not botting, but, don’t be surprised if rules are changed in the future due to the complaints. Although, if they do, I will be left wondering why they won’t also ban people with MMO mice that happen to have auto-key functions built in at a hardware (or software that came with the mouse) level…

I don’t understand how this is unfair when there are add-ons that are
supposedly in the “okay” zone that allow you advantages over the average
player as well (for example, like the one that helps you complete maps
100% as opposed to having to walk around for hours and actually discover
the fogged areas). The only difference is that one is freely available
to everyone, while the other costs money to invest in additional
hardware, so people are mad that they don’t have the money to do the
same thing. Well, I guess if you can’t afford to buy TP in the future,
that should be removed too because it’s not fair to players who can’t
afford to purchase TP and give them an advantage over others who can’t.

Eh, I have played MMOs for the past ten years, but I’ve only been donating for the past two, mostly out of the desire to support the Developers. You get by with in-game currency, and it typically isn’t that difficult to earn it, and be able to buy those cash items with in-game currency, as long as the economy is balanced.

Issue here is that the economy is a tad broken because of bots and the massive tax in place, so users are adjusting their prices to negate that 30% tax . What’s the point of a 30% market tax as a Silver sink if the bots aren’t even using the market? Hopefully the Developers will correct this in the future…

I don’t mind at all if this is legal or not, but I hope you understand why I had to report it. If the staff says it’s ok, no skin off my back. If it’s not, then you’ll know.

I just saw an unusual situation and reported it.

@KappaKeepo Maybe you should repost your explanation, and tag all of the staff and GMs in the post, so they see it? Could get this solved once and for all.

I kinda want an answer, too… For… Science… :smirk:

Btw only the team name is unique. Me and my brother have the same character name called Melon but we have different team name.

I believe that this guy dont even play anymore but, i’m curious, what was IMC position about this?
