Probably already discovered lol, but I didn’t know when I made this vid. Check it out
Ancient news. Don’t forget jump attacking for other classes.
These are things I wish weren’t “things,” but kids love it in all their games. It’s not too bad I guess, just impacts the game in a negative way IMO, would be better if it was just baseline.
True, but I think jump attack is fine
Being able to attack in mid air is okay, but I don’t like it when it becomes more efficient than attacking on the ground. For example, pretty much mage classes. For melee, you can also get a few more attacks in more quickly this way and I don’t like that either.
I think for mage, they shouldn’t be able to jump attack, but instead innately have slower attack speed but deal meaningfully more damage, so that they have to “commit” to their basic attacks but also get rewarded when they do instead of jump attack spamming for minimal damage. Something like, where their block penetration is multiplied and then put into their basic attacks so they could use basic attacks inbetween cooldowns to do significant damage but also be vulnerable while doing so if they don’t do it smartly.
For melee, being able to jump attack is fine. Doing it to cancel animations and get more attacks in faster and it being “required” to be optimal isn’t.
Yeah I agree with you, but I do believe it gives the game more versatility
The last thing this game needs are more artificial elements like these to give an illusion of “versatility” given how the class system works. It’s not really versatility, it’s just another mechanic you must conform to in order to be optimal. It adds another layer of annoyance and gives more to the “unstable” atmosphere of the game that doesn’t have solid groundwork to make it feel fluid and well designed.
But anyway, it’s good you put up this video so all the new players can see it and learn it. Doesn’t seem like many people are talking about it right now.
