AMD and Nvidia. How do the two perform on ToS?

I’m noticing only a few people have problems, and I’m really beginning to wonder what our specs are all like. I’ve a small theory that ToS simply favours AMD, because I just experience the choppiest frames with it. Buuuut that’s just me, and I’m running a relatively old processor. My specs are as follows.

1920x1080 LG Flatron W2243T connected to an MSI Nvidia GTX750 Ti
Intel i7 875k connected to an Asus P7-P55D-E motherboard
16 gigabytes of 2133MHz RAM (dual channel)
128GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD (OS)
2x1TB WD Black drives
Asus Xonar DS (Decent card, but you need to get the Uni drivers for it to work) hooked to a 7.1 system.
2x Xbox 360 Wired Controllers

I’m using the 355.98 drivers, because the 358 drivers were causing instability.
My average framerate is 30, but this varies a lot. The lowest it seems to get is 4, and that was with the Upent scene the other user had problems with.

I get choppy frame rates with 30-45 fps avg. tops out at 60 outside of combat, Running at max settings @ 1600x900

Phenom II x6 1045t
GTX 660
2x 4G DDR3 Dual-channel
120GB HDD for OS
2TB HDD for games (including ToS and Steam)

Probably has to do with all the effects on one screen.

Still, you think my card would be able to handle it. I’m doing an update, and if that doesn’t work, I’m turning the settings down and switching to window. I’m starting to suspect it’s related to the fact I’m trying to run fullscreen, because it’s still not putting a significant strain on my processor.

i5-2320 3GHZ Quadcore
GTX 760
16GBs of Ram 1333mhz Dual-Channel

Often capping at 120FPS … But right when there is a lot of players and monster it tend to drop down to like 15-30FPS in 1920x1080 at max setting. I’d guess there is still some optimisation to be done

Running at MAX.

My specs:
8GB
Geforce 660 gtx
Haswell i5

I’m way above the requirements and still having fps issues. Specially in places where there is too much going on.

Client can’t keep up most which is the main cause of fps loss but…

GTX970, 8GBRAM, I7 3770

pretty much 60fps all around (every setting enabled) except in zones with a lot of people/effects. Game capped at 60fps also. Was hoping I could get more.

I’ve never had fps issues, even with a ton of players/monsters on screen. At the absolute worst I fall to about 40fps.

Resolution: 2560x1080
CPU: AMD FX-8370 @ 4.8GHz
GPU: AMD R9 390 OC to 1100MHz
RAM: 8GB
PSU: 750W
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Killer 990FX

Probably because of that CPU lol. I think stuff around character loading and stuff go through CPU instead of GPU.

Would probably help if they could make their games run on more than only 1 Core for many of us i’d guess lol ?

I noticed a bug.

If the map is opened and you start running, fps drops significantly.

Anyone with the same problem?

Resolution is 1920x1080 on a 23 inch LG monitor.

Using a 2014 Alienware (one of the small PC’s)

Intel core i7 4770 @3.4 GHZ
8 gig ram
Windows 8
AMD Radeon R9 270

Game works great, usually steady 60 fps on max settings. Occasional slow down from server overload, but very certain that is a server end issue, not a PC issue.

i have all low and disabled and doing fine if there is not much ppl or mobs

phenomx4 2.3mhz
2gb ram ddr2 800
ati hd 4670 ddr3 512mb

Resolution: 2560x1440
GPU: R9 390x
CPU: i7 2600k

I only fall to 40 fps when there are a lot of users. When there are few players or in instances, I can hit 90-100 fps. For regular grinding it’s around 50-90 fps. I set my maximum hz to 100.

Running in max settings, except v-sync that is turned off.

CPU: Phenon II X4 965 at 3.8Ghz
GPU: HD 5770
RAM: 8gb
Resolution: 1080p
Windows 10

50 ~ 70 fps when I am alone or with few people.
12~30 fps in crowded areas. In my case is the gpu that suffers most in this situation.

im running on very low specs

GPU: Geforce 9500gt 1gb
CPU i5-2400
native resolution 1920 x 1080 (60fps max)
game resolution 1440 x 990
all game settings are set to be turned off and im also running on low mode.

i get around 50-60 fps normaly
drops to around 30 if too many people / monsters and effects are on screen
its still 100% playable, ive had no issues whatsoever in my grind to lvl 110

i think the reason ToS runs so poorly even on stronger PC’s is because the game is natively set to go into “Windowed fullscreen” mode, which eats up a lot of a CPU’s processing power, ive seen this feature as the default of many korean mmo’s.
the advantage of windowed full screen is instant alt tabbing and the ability to run the game in the background smoothly.

you can however force “true full screen” by going into the XML files and changing the resolution mode to 0, you can also force the game to stretch a lower resolution onto your screen if you set it as true fullscreen, i set my games resolution to 1440x990 and stretched it to full screen, the drop in graphical quality and inability to alt tab is negligible and the increase in performance is massive from my experience.

Hi! I wanna try this one 'cause I have low specs too. Any idea on how can I set resolution mode to 0? As well as how to set games resolution via the XML files? tia!

Here’s a link to my reddit post on how to do it

I think it might have been beneficial to do that sooner, but I’ll consider this as a solution.

Also, if it’s really processor-centric, that might explain a few things, too. I’m running a first-generation series, and those are pretty… well, old now. It still works great, though. For everything else. At once.

I have a very solid build but this game is heavily unoptimized for higher end PCs.

Intel 5960X OC’d to 4.5GHZ on liquid
2 nVidia GTX Titan X’s OC’d to 1500MHZ on liquid
Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard
32 GB DDR4 Corsair Dominator RAM with XMP @ 3GHZ
1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD
Windows 10

The game itself when with no one around has such a massive frame jump, it’s ridiculous. I can go anywhere from 239 FPS to about 35 for something random happening like an object exploding or having 10-15 people on screen…though that shouldn’t happen with my CPU. It doesn’t seem to be taking advantage of my gfx cards or processors as their utilization is very low while the game is active. The game also doesn’t like running things past 60FPS with GSYNC turned on - Random texture and effect flickers occur.
