Murmillo is an Offensive sword/shield build. The class is focused on dealing more damage and ish.
The tankiest class is Pelta c3 that give you Guardian 15, Swash, High Guard, langort…
while Rod is just fortification of your defense and just gives you shield attacks.

i’m following a templar build in tosbase, but going c3 squire instead of templar.
stat distribution is 3con:4str:5dex (with cloth armor mastery)

LMAO ask any rode/murmillo dumbass. 200% increase of damage of a skill that is already sh1t isnt good at all. all rode/murmillos dont even use their rode skill in rotation because of how good murmillos are
dont get me wrong though, its alot easier to quest as a rode than a squire3, playing a support character takes determination
If i were to make a tank it would be sw>pelt2>rode3>shinobi>murmillo

All r7 and below skills are basically Minimal in damage compared to r8 skills. Doesn’t make them ■■■■. It makes Tankers more useful in damage cause skills like Shield Moving becomes skills that deal 2.6k dmg instead of the usual 1.2
Really the only build that takes Murmilo’s dmg and tankiness is
Sw->Pelt2->hop3->Dragoon->Murmillo.
Get the spear benefits to increase your damage and Dragoon gives you good closure + Synchro Thrust boost and Pelt 2 to give you tanky abilities.

I feel like Squire is that underated gem tho cause Arrest is a pretty awesome ability.
Not all but yeah, Slithering tank aside mostly will be pointless in a PvE situation where most big time damages are either pierce or slash, unless they aim to dps, pairing with a Pally/Monk>Inqui with their Rod>Mur setup.
Rod>Mur is more of a PvP juggernaut with it’s killer CC lockdowns.
I actually started a hoplite tank. was going to do sw>pelt>hoplite3>doppel>shinobi>murmillo. Stopped at doppel because i might just make it a dragoon2, idk yet. shinobi copies syncro thrusting and you can do pierce+clone+kunai as well for burst on bosses. Maybe i should have done something other than doppel if i wanted to be tank.
I feel Doppel skills become useless after you go into r7 and r8, cause r8 has a Huge ass damage gap. Or am I wrong cause I’m using skill simulator. Lol
and this is coming from someone who was a rod->doppel
lets listen to the BR guys 
murmillo skills are STRIKE, increase those skill by 200% and see what happens.
ps: have you even looked at the murmillo skill set and passives and how he increase the dmg of rodelero and peltasta skills?.

Arrest isn’t all that great, especially for continuing to deal damage to keep agro. The rest of Squire’s kit is best for parking in town or some area anyway. Just ask a squire3 friend to park somewhere for your party or something.

Magic is your only real weakness, and as it becomes more prevalent at higher levels, you’ll notice that you benefit more from the magic defense from Cloth Mastery: Magic. So you wear cloth armor in most scenarios, although it doesn’t hurt to have multiple gear sets for different applications.
Wearing cloth on a high evasion / block character isn’t a bad idea.
Those extra mdef will actually bring more benefits and make a bigger difference than physical def that will only be applied to the very few hits that manage to get through both your evasion and block.
It feels pretty lame to be a ‘tanker’ wearing a pair of pajamas though.
