[Age Old Debate (no bait m8)] Multiboxing

Just came across someone asking if it was allowed to have either more than one client of the game running (obviously I told him no), and another question where he wanted to know if he could have more than one computer in the house running the game (obviously yes).

And the first thing to pop into my mind was: Multiboxing…

  • You can’t tell if the other player is flat AFK and someone else is just boosting him (or even running back and forth between computers to move the other person)

  • You can’t tell if there is actually another player who is in control of that account at all.

  • Hardware Software combo based multi-broadcasting (KVM switches) can violate the ToS, but detection in hardware only implementations would be difficult.

Didn’t find anything in the search about it, but now that we have a buttload of bots (that will eventually be banned and blocked effectively), what is IMC and your stance on this Grey hot-button topic?

doesn’t exp stop sharing if you are far from your party members? also, this game is “kinda” quest based, so… it wouldn’t be that effective.

and honestly, if someone is playing in 2 machines at the same time and manage to do everything, that’s a lot of effort and i don’t see any problem if they get some exp for this, still think it’s not worth and that no sane person would keep it for more than a few hours.

Well you can share quests, and most multboxers would keep the other character pretty close (or have to stay close to prevent mob spawns from killing them).

Also there seems to be maps that don’t have anything but large mob spawns in tight groups, making close farming a lot easier
