After 200 hrs. logged I did a FULL REVIEW

I have developed some quick, point form notes which is the basis of the video review for my YouTube channel. NOTE: I have no Ragnarok experience.

I have over 200 hours logged since March 30th, and a level 170 Sorceror and a level 60 Hoplite.

THE GOOD

 1. The graphics and artwork are absolutely gorgeous and inspired.
 2. The XP system uses XP cards that can be used later and is very creative. This adds an element of strategy to leveling.
 3. Using a PS4 controller via bluetooth for my PC was strange at first but now I am totally in love with it. I have two PS4 controllers and no PS4 in my home. DS4 Windows made it completely plug-in play and I didn’t have to configure anything - it just works.
 4. The collections system buffs your total account and implements a brilliant exploration aspect to the game that cannot be overstressed how fun and addictive it is.
 5. Two seperate levels of character and class is brilliant. I repeat, brilliant. The 80 total classes give unlimited replay-ability and variety.
 6. I am semi-old and the combat system reminds me of Zelda: A Link from the Past from SNES and other console fighters such as Double Dragon or River City Ransom. Because I have millions of hours of experience with those games I love the combat. It doesn’t seem grindy to me because I enjoy the fights.

THE BAD

 1. Connected to the above point, it seems like there is casting latency when doing moves and this delay can get me killed vs bosses. It seems like part of the game, but I would appreciate a more responsive system like street fighter. Why does it take 2 seconds to cast a two-frame animation fireball? I’m hoping its server lag and not a core programmed fault.
 2. This game seems a bit pay-to-win at the moment. Not only does the $10/month premium get you 30% more flat XP but the +3 to movement speed and +4 to auction house trades seems a bit busted. Good luck getting to level 240+ without spending some cash (aim for 2017).
 3. The stash system is disappointing. Not only is it difficult to trade items between alts, you are unable to organize your stash and it costs 20 silver per transaction. Very odd, and somewhat unacceptable.
 4. Gold selling bots are mildly annoying but not a major issue.
 5. Some say that this is a boring grind-fest, and it will get that criticism but I do not see it as a grind any more than getting prestige in CoD or ranks in CS:GO. If you enjoy what you are doing it isn’t quite a grind IMHO.
 6. I’m not accustomed to anime, and was confused by the sexualization of childish characters. Maybe I don’t understand the genre but it seems inappropriate (I am not repressed or prude, just not used to anime and was kinda shocked.). I was expecting Sailor Moon and kinda got something else. The heroes and townsfolk seem both 12 and 21.
 7. I’d like a bald hairstyle for male characters ASAP.
 8. I realize I’m in the minority here but I muted the music. Electro-cheeze casio beats didn’t quite do it for me. I think a full score would be better in the long term. Such as the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Orchestra!
 9. The aura/buff sound effects (Enchant Fire/Reflect Shield) for the wizard become very tiresome and annoying, there needs to be an option to lower the volume of that or remove completely. It’s almost like an alarm clock. Ugh.

FINAL RATINGS:
Graphics & Visuals: 8.5/10
Gameplay & Controls: 8/10
Music & Sound: 7/10
Replay Value: 10/10
84% OVERALL

There are a few wierd restrictions, but IMC is working on them(I hope).
You can totally play it without tokens. Just have to do things the long winded way regarding trading, sell and then buy etc. instead of 1:1.
And unless you are that tryhard to be bothered with +3 move speed… or that 30-50 extra stats that doesn’t seem much at end game…

That sums up most of what I thought about the game.

Although I’m surprised about how I’m the only one who complains about the eyes making my characters look soulless.

The connectivity part really ticks me off, having my attack speed halved due to my connection makes me think it still has room for optimization.

The major complaint with the stash is also that it takes one trade count to transfer something between alts, the fact there’s only one slot which must make the process tedious and also the potential problem. But I thought they said they’d look into it, so not too worried on that part.

The music didn’t gripe me as much as some of Ragnarok’s tracks and I think I will soon switch it to something else, but some of them are great.

Nice review nonetheless.

Also: if you are having problems with gold spammers, try LKchat Addon, it’s pretty neat.

Game is old, engine is old. That’s all I am telling myself. If not for the art, music and class system I would had just drop it tbh.

Not really. I leveled till 150 without tokens and other items from cash shops. When you reached 120+, you’ll be able to farm silver and buy a token.

Looking forward to see this. I’d also want them to make more hairstyles and hair color to partner with our unique class build.

I really liked the review. Especially the part where you mention its about the journey and not the destination.

The music part was funny. I like it for the most part, but in some areas the music doesn’t really fit.

Only thing i didnt like was you didnt mention you can get tokens with silver from the market.

You are absolutely right, I should have mentioned that. They are only 400k right now on Orsha, seems pretty low. I wonder if the price will go up after free launch.

I think I didn’t mention it because price doesn’t bother me, I actually bought all 3 DLC packages and don’t mind paying $10/month. That doesn’t bug me, it’s just the +3 to movement speed, and the auction house/trade restrictions really shocked me for those who can’t afford it.

and 30% tax in market without token

I was going to agree with your post, but I changed my mind reading this.

Childish characters? What sexualization?

I’m guessing the rampant panty shots on certain characters whenever. I’m pretty desensitized, but I could see how someone who isn’t used to it could react in such a way.

Plenty of people just buy the token without silver. If you think this game is pay-to-win, you must think literally every game is pay-to-win.

I think that this should be added in as well, but the character models realistically might not have a top portion of their head, which would make it very difficult.
Agreed entirely that it is a bad system, but the 20 silver transaction fee is so negligible it is hilarious.
Seriously bro? This should be the lowest score for this game, 99% of the time you do the same thing on all chars, 1% you create a char on Orsha by mistake

You also can’t make a black macho character with a majestic moustache :rage:
