I have killed an afk player. However, the other healer in the party resurrected them. Attempted to kill them again, but they healed themselves and ran away.
This party was a queued party. In this situation, both players were running around and avoiding any contact with the boss. I can try to explain the situation beforehand, but I don’t entirely understand what was going on.
We all killed the first boss with 0 confrontation. Then, we entered the 3 min mission area and everyone else afked. Honestly, I don’t care if healers afk, but dps should equally participate in killing the mobs. This group has 3 clerics, so the chaplain or paladin should have helped for this one run. I have never failed this section, so I decided to afk after 1 min. The torch begins to get overwhelmed and falls to 50%. One healer makes a remark about everyone being afk and the mission will restart. Another healer says I can heal the torch. I commented it would be interesting to see what happens. I am not entirely sure, but I think two healers begin dpsing and we easily pass. I asked what happens if you fail and nobody responded.
Someone pulls the mole and 3 of the 5 players (both archers and cleric) run to the next room waiting to dps. I don’t know why we didn’t pull both bosses with 3 clerics, but I am not going to make a healers job worse if they don’t want 2 bosses aggroed. Two healers begin fighting the boss inside the hallway. I am waiting with my arrow charged at the exit and they continue fighting the boss in the hallway. Nobody said anything and the two healers killed the mole. I don’t know if the two healers thought they could somehow save 2 under-leveled 6k hp archers from a one-shot death, but u can’t forever with revive. In addition, it does not help to lay down healing blocks preventing players from seeing the ground to avoid the spike aoe. The paladin nearly died with 4k more hp and 5 levels on me. They (I think chaplain and paladin) finish killing the mole without commenting once in chat. If they had moved to the next room, I doubt any leeching would have occurred based on complete participation in the first room.
After the mole dies, I go and pull the bear into the previous room and kite it around (I think for about 20%). Two players (both reported) are running around in circles. The Paladin and Chaplain are sitting. Paladin pulls the tree and I continue to kill the boss after a short break where I place a “?” in chat. Chaplain joins in killing the bear, while the fletcher and cleric continue running in circles. The Chaplain and I finish killing the bear and the chaplain says “not so hard i solo this a few times”. I remark “? ok?”. You can see the rest of the conversation in the picture above.
I understand people don’t play all classes, but at least be considerate, aware, or ask questions as to why people might be waiting in the other room. After the first boss going down quickly, I did not expect anyone to afk during the later boss fights, but you will never understand how people will react from the simplest actions. Most of this recount should be accurate with the help of video.
Side Note: I am not currently playing tos because the many broken systems cause the community to act out (ex. no exp during death, mission runs). I blame IMC more than the community because the game is far from complete. In addition, playing with friends is limited with the party matchmaking system (yes, you can queue at the same time to increase your chances). Might come back in the future, but there are too many non-broken games. Even if the gameplay in tos shines, the many systems around it bring it down and create a toxic community.
Wish the rest of you saviors, best of luck.
