Advice for a Corsair C3

Hi saviors,

Just as the title says, I wanna roll a char Corsair C3 in the upcoming iOBT (I played to the iCBT) but I can’t decide between two build paths.

The first one is:
Swordsman 1, Pelt 1, Barbarian 1, Barbarian 2 and then Corsair up to C3.

The second one is the same but I juste replace Barbarian 1 and 2 by Highlander 1 and 2.

The main difference that I see is that I’ll have more CC with the barbarian path (but it will fall off later on) and more damage with the Highlander one. But which one would fit well with corsair C3 as my objective is to bring more utility than damage but still be able to solo in the leveling phase without too much struggle.

For the barbarian path I wanted to do:

Any advices about this?

Thanks!

personally, with how low a cooldown bash is on now, I’d find it hard to justify going after short CC ability with further ranks.

I would recommend hoplite for those 2 ranks. spears are far and away the best one-handed weapons due to their extra size atk. and you’d pick up a ton of free crit, aoe ratio and spear lunge (which doubles all pierce damage for a short time).

guardian only needs 1pt. it actually gets worse with more points.

I would also recommend putting at least 1 point in dust devil, as it’s a multihit (3x iirc) aoe attack.

Curious, why Jolly Roger 10? The cool down is very short compared to the duration so why not just keep it at level 2 and reuse?

You can then get double weapon assault to 9/10 which lasts the same as its cool down. And also get 1 point into dust devil.

Also, does Keel Hauling have bad scaling or something? Because 2 hits @ 1377 sounded pretty good…Is maxing Iron Hook really worth it?

I agree with the Barbarian route because imo Hoplite isn’t as versatile, but it does have great single target damage potential. Tbh I’m still trying to decide between the 2.

This.

For a Corsair dual-wielding build Hoplite has a much better synergy and damage output.

The Hoplite path was one that I tested in the iCBT but I didn’t had enough time to compare builds.

I still consider to go for Hoplite but the two ranks in barbarian might bring more than self buff with enemy defense debuff and stun.
Thanks for the tips about Hoplite though!

Godhand, I think you maybe right about the leveling of skills, I may have put too much into jolly Roger but the desc say that it increases the pillage chances with levels but it might not be so great.
And I reconsider putting less points into Iron Hook because the duration is maybe too long and never used so much at max rank.

This choice is still hard.

Thus I’ll leave Highlander at least!

You know, I used to have a build much like yours, with Barbarian C2 and Corsair C3. But now I prefer going Barbarian C3 and Corsair C2.

Main advantage of going Corsair C3 over C2 is 100% uptime on Double Weapon Assault and max Iron Hook and Jolly Roger. But when I thought about, those things are not that needed.

At level 5, Double Weapon Assault will have 44 seconds duration, with a cooldown on 52 seconds. With 44 seconds on, those 8 seconds off doesn’t make that much of a difference to justify another rank.

Iron Hook is powerfull in PVP League, but you’ll probably not use it to it’s full length, 19 seconds reduced to 14 seconds. I really doubt you’ll need to hook people for more than 10 seconds.

Jolly Roger’s increasing drop items, is cool and I don’t know the math behind that, but I’m guessing level 15 is not that much different from level 10.

And by going Barbarian C3, I got better Frenzy and Warcry. Another thing is higher damage Seism and Helm Chopper, wich is nice but not really needed. Yeah, I don’t use Cleave and Pistol Shot(C3), shoot me. But I feel Corsair C2 and C3 are more of a normal-attack char than skill user, so rest of skills should compliment that.

This is my Corsair C2 build:

Of course, since I’m not playing on KToS, this is all theorycrafting.

I wouldn’t recommend going corsair c3 at this point. Had a corsair c3 in ktos. Pistol shot damage is terrible, DWA with pistol is terrible as pistol had a second delay between each shot. Pistol damage not affecting auto attacks and pistol shot skill. You are better off going corsair2 with other class.
From my experience corsair has better synergy with hoplite spear lunge + hexen and iron hook + long stride.

not sure why you need peltasta for, with either build you probably won’t be able to hit that many enemies at once. seems like a waste when you could get highland c3>corsair c2, get skull swing and have that last rank for some shinobi skills. since you won’t have a shield you’d probably not be playing tank at higher levels.

can pistols do decent damage if you upgrade them a lot.?

Thanks signumlevantine for feedback of C3, I didn’t knew that the pistols has so many drawbacks for DWA.
I think I’ll drop the idea of C3!

The barbarian rank 3 is an interesting idea as I want to keep the C1 of peltasta.
