Adventure Journal - Monster tab bug

Date and Time : March 31

Description :
I tried to get all items from monsters in first location (West Siauliai Woods), the monster “Infrorocktor” should drop at least 4 items: Infrorocktor Shell, Infrorocktor Bones, Superior Short Rod and Superior Wooden Club, i got all of them and my Adventure Journal showed all 4 items near this monster, but after restarting the game - it shows only 2 items, other 2 just disappeared. BUT! in the ITEM ment, opposite to Item “Infrorocktor Bones” it shows, that i obtain 2 from Infrorocktor.

I have an assumption, that may be will help somehow: Each monster have different items to drop, and order, which shows those items on Adventure Journal, so when you collect one item, that not in his “place” in journal, and then collect item, that should be on place of the first item, it replace this item and the “false” one disappears, till you find a correct place for this item and correct sequence of all shown items. So, shortly – to fill monster tab with items they drop, you need to get items dropped by this monster in right order, or they will disappear from Adventure Journal later on, after restart, pressing “search” button or other, similar actions. I’m not sure about this theory though.

Since i’m new here, i can’t upload more, then one image, because of that i can’t completly explain the issue without images, but i will try reproduce the issue.

So, let’s say Kepa can drop 3 items: “Kepa Stem”, “Wooden Shield” and “Kepa Doll”.

Steps to reproduce the issue :

  1. Let’s kill Kepa, until they drop “Kepa Doll” or “Wooden Shield”. Now, it correctly shows in Monster Tab, that Kepa can drop “Wooden Shield”!

  2. Fighting with Kepa again, until they drop “Kepa Stem”. Now, in the Adventure Journal we can see, that Kepa can drop a “Kepa Stem” as well.

  3. After logout, or pressing the “Search” button, now we can see, that Kepa drops only “Kepa Stem”. Wait a second, didn’t
they drop Wooden Shield before? Hm…

  4. And now, let’s try to battle with Kepa “few” more times, until they drop “Wooden Shield” again. Aha! I knew it! They actually drop “Wooden Shield”!

  5. Now, after restart or pressing “search” it correctly shows 2 items out of 3, but are you sure that “Wooden Shield” is second in journal “row” and it won’t disappear after getting a “Kepa doll”? It will… =(

Of course, it’s not actually a major problem to fix, but there is many players, who like to collect rare items, who like to fill journal with different kind of information, monsters drop, and so on, so I hope for fix this issue in future. And sorry for my poor English. I hope you understand what I was talking about.

I have the same bug with adventure jornal (and a lot more), but most of people dont care about adventure jornal and IMC dont care too.

I have seen the same bug. I don’t need to restart for them to be removed from the monster tab. I can change channels, and they go away.

I am commenting here because I have this issue as well and I’d like more discussions about our forgotten badass adventure journal, which has a lot of bugs. Is IMC aware of that? Is it a weird intended design? Any hints? Thanks.

Indeed. I find this way of playing the game very fun and I surely want this issue to be solved because it takes much more effort to drop rare itens several times for the journal completion!

Thinking about it, I’ve made a video with an example of this bug:

Just to explain it: as I knew about the bug, I started recording the video before picking up an item that was missing in my journal. In the example, it was a superior iron club from stone orca in crystal mine 1F. The monster sprite had already faded out, but it is the only monster that drops it on this area. To prove the erase of the item information on the monster tab, I recorded the journal before I picked it up and then refreshed it somehow (searching, changing channels, logging out; it would all work). And a previous item was overwritten with the new one.

That’s a brilliant theory. It really should be tested regarding it’s reproducibility. My video kind of stands against it because in the database order, the club should be between the boots:

“Kind of” because it’s not for sure that the order of itens in-game is the same from the database; so if the same item orders are reproduced among all the player that should prove you right.

I hope these additional information is valuable somehow. Thanks very much for your post and let’s get this issue solved!

A few more item orders that I have different from the database:

Does any other player has these different too?

You see, we have different orders, therefore there’s not a specific order to the collection, and yet my items keep replacing EVERYTIME. It sucks because I lost the score of a lot of monsters with really rare items. I tried to adjust the picture so we could match with each other.

Look! This time the item icon appeared right after I picked it up, but it didn’t raise de counter bellow “% score” as it would normally do. So, when I refreshed the previous item vanished again; small variation, same problem. I don’t understand this bug at all

I have my own theory now. :relaxed:
I’ve noticed that when you hover the item icon at the monster tab it shows a counter (just above the item data fluctuating box) of how many times you have dropped that item from that monster.
Sooo, I’ve also noticed that every time you get a given item for the first time from that monster, there will be no counter for it and the item ends up disappearing whenever you pick up a new item that isn’t currently registered. I’ve seen two ways that the journal represents that loss of information:

  1. The newly item is added only after refresh, when the previous item data is lost and it causes a visual “overwrite”;

  2. Upon picking up the unregistered item, it shows itself immediately even though it hasn’t added its information nor erased the previous one, which becames visible because the number of monster drops registered (below %score) doesn’t go up, in spite of the icon added. It is just a visual bug where the new item icon appears before the information are processed.

Furthermore, whenever you pick up an item for a second time its counter gets activated, starts counting at x1 and this information is kept in your journal forever! :raised_hands:

In the example of the video from my previous post, I just dropped another Blue Orb: Leaf Bug and it didn’t overwrite the EXP card from the video. Now I have both item’s counter at x1 and when I get the next item, Red Orb: Leaf Bug, it doesn’t overwrite neither of the previous items and just adds the information!

To summarize: As it this now, you have to drop EVERY item TWICE from a given monster in order to have its drops information complete in your journal. The exception would be for the last item, which you could get only one time and its information won’t be “overwriten” nevertheless

What are your thoughts?
