I’m going to go ahead and file this alongside Zoomy as “things that will probably be illegal soon”. I preferred the way you could choose to show your name or sell as anonymous in beta, but always being shown as the seller can be problematic.
NIce, now I can see more bots names selling items with absurd prices.

My guess is they remove it to counter gold seller? There are good and bad sides for this addon to be available to the public.

i do not know if i’m the only one having it, but once i have installed this new Addon, the one called marktioneer have broken here once i click reading market, it do not start the read, it stops at 0%.
and i have double check, i have uninstall the market names, and have tried again to read market with marktioneer and it worked.
is just something that i would like to point out, since there is not showing names for me as well, when i have both installed, i know that fioete is the one who made marktioneer but is something that i find right to point out.

My guess is that most people that are complaining about this addon are RMTers, your merely afraid of getting bad rep (or possible ban if IMC actually did something… I swear they don’t even moderate their own forum) from the non RMTing community. This addon in no way HELPS gold sellers since the MARKET_ITEM_INFO.GetSellerCID() function lets them see exactly whether the item on the market is the correct one or not. All they need is the CID of the client whom bought the silver which can be obtained many different ways, the easiest only requiring them to meet up with the client ingame. Even if the gold sellers didn’t use that function how many people have a stack of 25 Tenet Chain Pants for 2mil each in the market? Only one.

agreed. i think this is a great addon for gold sellers to be exposed but for people like me who just place random items on the market its kinda breaking my privacy not that im trying to hide something but this addon’s gonna make my chatbox explode with annoying pms.
I’d rather have an addon that displays what i sold and who has bought it than than this one its not game breaking but its breaking my privacy seriously…

I don’t get the reason why people hate this addon. Showing names as a seller in the Auction House is been part of the MMORPG Genre. I guaranteed that those people who are afraid and hate this addon are the one who buy silvers from RMT . .

Maybe its a good opportunity for one in charge
to start banning people now.
I think this is a terrible add-on as it will create hostility with people or PM user calling them out for their outrageous price. Why would it matter someone undercuts you? It just means they are willing to take less of profit than you are. It makes the market fair and affordable when people are willing to sell it for less.
I have yet to see a thread about people being harassed because of what they posted on marketplace. I think people are panicking because it will be even harder to RMT now.
IMC said the add-ons that show things that already in the game or info that can be easily found in the internet are ok.
This addon does not seems to fit that.
You have yet to see a thread because in beta we could post items anonymously and from release until now nobody could see a seller.
I guarantee you in beta there was still some drama around a few players who played the market hard (because it was a lot more possible to do so back then, with way fewer restrictions on trade/market), there are people who don’t like it when you play the market and consider it ‘unfair’ for whatever reason.
There’s no real reason to see the names of people selling things, the RMT transactions will always be obvious.
they must not be that obvious b/c roughly 4 months later 90% of the biggest players that rmt are still doing it coughcoughkiritocoughcough, like the addon myself

That’s because IMC doesn’t ban RMTers. They’d go out of business if they did. The people that spend the most on RMT also spend the most on the cash shop.
Does this clash with Fiote’s Marktioneer @Excrulon? I’ve been having issues using he “read market” function and haven’t installed or changed anything since adding this. Never had the problem before.
Or should I speak to @fiotedev? Although I’m not sure if they’re actively developing anymore.
EDIT: Decided to uninstall and reinstall marktioneer as I didn’t want to lose the IDs this addon might have added. Seems to be working fine now. If anyone else comes across the same problem this is your fix.
