Each server it’own char, its too much of a load to have all the chars being copied to all servers, thou, PoE and i think D3 do that, but in ToS case i don’t think that is necessary.
No. Different servers were made to reduced lags by tons on players pouring in and out. Plus, moving to different servers without making a new characters is just no different than changing in between channels. so it’s kinda pointless.
i don’t see why they need servers, most games are phasing the idea out aren’t they.
The heck you are talking about? Each server will be in a region for latency reduction or so its their plan for the future.
most games as in what game? I don’t think i can list a game with 1 server other then maybe eve?
i;m not good with names, but, mm, the elder scrolls, guild wars… i’m sure i read of a few other relatively new games that have some kind of mega servers and you go where your friends are. i only really play cute games.
Guild wars 1 and 2 both have multiple servers or atleast had last time i played them.
MMO with a single server is either private servers or a MMO that felt into the hands of a terrible publisher and its dying.
I don’t remember but EVE have multiple servers? I don’t remember i played it 3 years ago for 2 months or so.
Elder scrolls and wildstar I believe use mega servers. Most games don’t use that system, it’s usually games that have a focus around world pvp that like using it. However, if ToS wants to use mega servers, I think it’ll take quite awhile.
Even with multiple servers, each individual server had multiple issues, a mega server is quite awhile away if they wanted to work towards it.
I prefer each sever being separate. It will reduce lag, keep players who refuse to speak English segregated, and leave open the possibility for unique servers to opened in the future (PK, higher/lower rates, different regions, etc.).
Over time the servers will most likely develop different levels of populations as well, so you can choose whether you want to play on a less populated or highly populated server.
I wouldn’t mind a payed option to transfer your character to another server. This way you can still move to a different server if you really want to, but you probably won’t do it too often and ruin everything I like about separate servers.
It could be a cash shop option to move to a different server. It would reduce such action and if someone wanted to join their friends or leave the server for whatever reason, they would be able to do it with a small fee (like eg. 3-5$).
Each server will have its own economy and free movemenents between them could spoil the economies, if there were high end items transferred freely inbetween.
as long as they can deal with the inevitable merging later.
