About Highlanders Crown and Cross Guard in PvE

I’m curious:
Are Highlanders Crown and Cross Guard actually useful in PvE?

In the case of Crown:
Does the int/spr-reduction actually help enough at higher levels(150~200+)/endgame(270~280) to make it worth using?
According to the monster database magical enemies, like

or

do have some int, but also compared to int much higher magical attack.
If i understand it correctly Shock status reduces int and spr by 50%, with Crowns attributes it would then be another 10%.
Are these -50% ~ -60% less int/spr really noticeable or even worht the skill points at higher levels against high level monsters, considering they often have int-independent high magic attack, especially bosses?

Also, about Cross Guard:
How much Block is needed to block at a good rate at high levels (250+)?
I know Cross Guard gives +(STR + 3level + 45skill level) Block, but i’m not sure how high this skill would need to be/how much block is needed in order to still be useful at high level PvE. Lets say a highlander has 100 str:
100 Str at level 280 and skill level 1 would be 985 block
100 Str at level 280 and skill level 5 would be 1165 block
100 Str at level 280 and skill level 10 would be 1390 block
100 Str at level 280 and skill level 15 would be 1615 block
How much Block would be enough, can anyone share high-level pve experiences with block or this skill?

crown is useless until a more higher lever content. take only at least 3 points for xguard.

Cross guard’s debuff is really really strong. It makes my cata nuke do 15k dmg to almost 30k dmg on a peirce skill.

Though only some skills from swordsman do pierce damage. Also remeber archers do missle damage, not peirce.

Most notable sources of pirece damage are from hoplite, dragoon, and fencer.

Highlander fencer is a really REALLY REALLY strong boss killer because fencer boost slash damage, while highlander boost peirce damage.

Lunge + bleed + skyliner does insane damage. As high as meteor hits.

But its hard tonset up and alot of bosses are immune to bleed.

Meh

Also if you’re playing on a character with high DEX you’re not guaranteed to land the piercing debuff since evade is prioritized before block. I think they need to put a little more thought into Cross Guard.

They didn’t tell you to pick up Dex so eh.

  • thats a factor for C guarding and Umbo blow as well.

Crown is awesome it can reduced magic attack by really a lot in a lot of case you will receive only 1 damage its not effective again mob tho(coz you dont kill one mob at a time derrr)

Going highlander you should go with str coz dex suck here its make your skill unreliable
Str scale with bleed from xcut and higher block on xguard

crown does land well and makes magic bosses deal 1 to 100 damage for the duration. You also have another shock skill later if you go doppel2. crossguard is good for annoying bosses like siulai mission that can be blocked entirely meaning you get to move around less qnd it does do wonders for dragoons in your party

Actually if you’ve taken hoplite, C1 the umbo blow problem is solved by Finestra, which lowers your evasion and raises your critical rate.

Also it’s not like they explain at any level of depth how the evade and block mechanics work before choosing skills, it’d be better if they just stated out right:

“No, you cannot build a character with high crit rate while utilizing the piercing debuff from cross guard. I know it looks like highlander should benefit from DEX and Crit Rate given it’s two handed sword crit damage attribute, but actually we were just misleading you.”

Or perhaps they could just adjust Cross Guard and make a couple builds more viable?
