A very important and presumably easy to fix issue with Doppelsoeldner

As many, if not most, people know, Doppelsoeldner’s Double Pay Earn does not double your exp. It is roughly a 30% boost. This either needs to be fixed in the skill description, and be a fairly bad skill, or the exp boost needs to work.

I haven’t seen any confirmation on the drop rate rates working incorrectly, but it should be looked into as well if possible.

I am well aware that there are probably other threads about this as well, but I would just like to bring some more attention to it, especially from IMC, and potentially warn any new players who weren’t aware of this.

Why on earth would you waste skill points on a skill that eventually and immediately becomes useless the moment you hit level cap and has a microscopic effect anyway.

I’ve confirmed that Doppel drops are working as intended and if by chance it is to drop from a mob and the mob is killed with DPE active, 2 pieces of the item will drop

Regarding EXP though I haven’t confirmed it yet.

Multiplicative to what exactly?

It’s hardly a microscopic effect. It’s great for 1 point. There are roughly 330 levels between the final cap and when you get that skill. There are already over 100 of those levels released. Doppel is all about Deeds and Cyclone anyways.

I also have only heard of it working correctly, but it wouldn’t harm to look into this as well. The exp most definitely does not double though.

when I don’t use Double Pay Earn in merc each boss gives around 250k but when the skill is on its around 480k.

It seems to work…some of the time…I think. It’s definitely not a consistent 100%. I think it’s a varying percentage? I keep testing this thing and I honestly have no idea. It’s very hard to tell at this point. I just tried it in merc as well. One time it gave +21%, the other time it gave roughly 62.5% more.

I have no clue how this thing works, but it’s definitely not working correctly. It’s still fairly worth one point though.

I think 1st kill gives around 100% then it gets lower I guess? from what i can remember on my last merc run earlier Poata gave me around 470k+ then Mole 379k. Might do another test once reset comes

Please do let me know what you find. I’m going to keep testing it. It hurts purposely not using it on one of the bosses to test the base exp though.

For the EXP, I don’t know but it does gave me more than usual.

But for the Loot, this is actually a confusing translation. The skills description says “Doubles your loot” while at the bottom says “2x EXP and Drop rate”. Basically, as we all know, DPE only doubles anything that drops. For example, if the mob were meant to drop a Gold Bar, DPE will double that thus you have 2 gold bar. Not increasing your Drop Rate to 2x.

But overall, it’s kinda a meh skill to me. The most of it I ever use was against bosses, not mobs.

Yeah it’s best for bosses and for ‘lucky’ mobs.

It does seem to work that way, yes.

Yeah; I would really like this just adjusted to be +100% all of the time. It’s hard to say what the bonus actually is. It seems inconsistent.

i would imagine that it’s probably just an incomplete understanding of how the skill works.

Exp is probably divided into several different groups (personal exp, party exp bonus, xp Tome bonus, Token bonus, etc)
and only the BASE exp is doubled… not the exp+all the bonuses

-just my guess-

You might be onto something here. Probably the 2x is only mob experience.

Say mob experience is 1.000 and your needed XP for the level is 100.000 (laaaaazy calculation incoming).

Token bonus (+30%) would make it 1300 (1,3%), which is calculated over 1000 - regardless of XP bonus.

The skill would double 1000, so with token we’d have 2300 (2,3%). It would seem like a ~70% increase if you’re always getting Token XP, but it’s actually a 130% increase over base XP.

The increase would seem variable if you leveled with different bonuses, but it would actually be increasing on a flat 100% base XP rate, disregarding whichever other effects you might have.

Also, I think XP tomes, team level exp, and party exp apply the exact same way, but as of now I have no ways of testing. Level penalties probably apply BEFORE any calculations (as in: “modify base XP, then bonuses apply”), though.

The only foolproof way of testing it would be somehow knowing the mob’s base XP (maybe using a database?) and fighting it without level penalty, then introducing one XP effect at a time and using the +100% skill on each one.

Good job, tz.
