A Lesson IMC should take from Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is an Indie game developed by just ONE guy, which had a huge sucess on steam.

ConcernedApe (the game’s only developer) launched seven patches from release, is actively taking conversations with players and tells us what his plans towards the future of the game are.

His patches improved much of what the community wanted, and made the game more fun. IMC should learn from him: whare are the mods, what do you plan to do, what will you do to keep me playing this game, why is kTOS different from iTOS, why so many restrictions, and the list goes on and on. The community is clearly angry at the company, and when a single guy dos a far better job of taking care of his game than an international company is a sign that things are not right.

The only one that actually listened to the community was IMC Julie but shes long gone now I think…

We also have so many problems needed taking care of that currently exist, nvm my hope for a weekend skeleton crew.

Some of whom already include:

There’s the graphical glitch for 32-bit processors that causes the game to eventually crash, and editing the disk processing of the computer itself with Command Prompt is risky, even worse would be converting to a 64-but at the expense of losing so many important files just for a game (which would need to be reinstalled anyway after).

“Floating” bosses and those that leave the instance field beyond the player’s screen that the player could no longer make effective damage even with long range.

Word censor that could easily be remedied to add elements like www or WVVW or VVVVVV or W|W|W to counter gold sellers while fixing ridiculous censors like “class” and “suspicious” and other words that don’t even make sense being censored just because of the letters inside them.

Abuse of bot report system and lack of clear cut definitions on issues like pets and z-tabbing.

I guess I should tag @Staff_Max here

Yeah! No one should ever hurt IMC and this awesome game! Whoever has problems and dare to say anything just go away and shut up!

This review too… Screw this!

Let’s join hands my white knight friend and let’s be ignorant together!

That’s just a short minded argument… Too sad to see people thinking like that.

Imagine that: if a company decides to have the same posture as you. “Hey, community, if you don’t like my game, for X and Y reasons, leave”

Yeah…

To be fair: comparing single player game with MMO is not a bright idea either.

Most if not all of IMC problems stem from poor netcode or problems that arise along with multiple players interacting with each other in game. Stardew Valley never had to deal with those problems to begin with.

Yeah, and a company that has experience with MMO didn’t predict that.

Most of my interest is in community relationship. IMC is silent about most of things.

Tree of Savior is their first project that they try to publish themselves. So, yeah.

There are two ways for fixing this problem :

  • upgrade the servsers, easy to do, even for an unskilled publisher like imc (there is no excuse for incompetence btw, because you can always hire competent people)
  • fix the bugs/code, which is drumroll devs job

That’s probably because they have no intent in fixing all of this in the short term, at least.

Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re tackling things on a priority check-list.

But yeah, I bet they’re trying to fight through the spaghetti coding to allow more server capacity for Varena. Maybe soon enough after they’ll also be able to hotfix the game’s partition usage to utilize multiple cores, boosting peeps’ performances.

You don’t mod MMO’s lol.

Though you are right to some extent, I have to say this: Stardew Valley is a single player farming simulator with 16-bit graphics. You can’t compare the two. Stardew Valley is also a game where TOS’s problems can never exist. If you don’t understand this, then you should just quit TOS.

he isnt comparing tos to stardew… wut ur saying is irrelevant. hes comparing the developers. pls, dont reply to any more threads. ur making urself look stupid

The only lesson IMC needs from Stardew Valley is that we need waifu companions

i think his point is that stardew valley developer listens and interact with the community.

its a 1 man developer. IMC rarely listens to the community and also super rare that they interact with the community (like getting a shiny pokemon) after Staff Julie left (she was the only one who interacts with the community).

right now we only have 1 moderator commenting in the last 2 days (Staff Max) other than that we got no word from them.

if they listen to the community and make a priority list based on the feedback of the players (make a poll or something) they can get things done faster than ignoring most of us.

heck TP isn’t even sold 5 days since free to play started and they are already selling beginners pack

Thank you for pointing out what some people have difficulty to see.

The main point is: An Indie Dev is more participative on the community than IMC while at the same time launching seven significative patches to his game.

IMC should hire a community manager ASAP.
