#Fencer

Fencer is a class from the Swordsman branch. It’s possible to get it at rank 6 and it is, basically, a warrior specialized in fights with rapiers. Fencer’s fightstyle is based on successive hits and evasion.

#Skills
Lunge - Circle 1

“[Physical] - [Pierce]Lower your stance and reach out to attack an enemy. Your evasion rate increases and the enemy becomes more vulnerable to [Slash] attacks.” - tosbase

  • Cooldown: 14 seconds

  • Max lvl: 15

  • Sp cost: 30 (lvl 1)


Sept Etoiles - Circle 1

“[Physical] - [Pierce]Stab an enemy with consecutive strikes.” - tosbase

  • Cooldown: 29 seconds

  • Max lvl: 15

  • Sp cost: 42 (lvl 1)


Attaque Coquille - Circle 1

“[Physical] - [Strike]Attack an enemy with the guard of your sword. The enemy’s defense is ignored when attacked again with [Pierce] attacks.” - tosbase

  • Cooldown: 8 seconds

  • Max lvl: 15

  • Sp cost: 31 (lvl 1)


Esquive Toucher - Circle 1

“[Physical] - [Pierce]Move swiftly to avoid enemy attacks and deliver complex consecutive attacks.” - tosbase

  • Cooldown: 30 seconds

  • Max lvl: 15

  • Sp cost: 43 (lvl 1)


Flanconnade - Circle 1

“[Physical] - [Slash]Perform a complex upward attack with your rapier. This attack protects you against an enemy attack.” - tosbase

  • Cooldown: 0 seconds

  • Max lvl: 15

  • Sp cost: 30 (lvl 1)


Attaque Composee - Circle 2

“[Physical] - [Pierce]Stab an enemy in front of you.” - tosbase

  • Cooldown: 0 seconds

  • Max lvl: 10

  • Sp cost: 35 (lvl 1)


Preparation - Circle 2

“Twirl the tip of your sword to parry an enemy attack and prepare for the next attack. The next [Pierce] attack you make will inflict twice as much damage.” - tosbase

  • Cooldown: 35 seconds

  • Max lvl: 5

  • Sp cost: 46 (lvl 1)


#Popular Builds

After research, those are some fencer builds i found as the most popular ones:

  1. Swordsman 2 > Highlander 3 > Fencer 2.

  2. Swordsman > Peltasta > Highlander 3 > Fencer 2.

  3. Swordsman > Peltasta 2 > Rodelero 2 > Fencer 2.

  4. Swordsman > Peltasta > Barbarian 3 > Fencer 2.

  5. Swordsman 2 > Barbarian 3 > Doppel > Fencer.

So, what do you think are the pros and cons for those builds? Do you agree with them?


#Stats

Here’s some stats allocation and explanations:

  • Full Dex: Fencer is a class that benefits a lot from it’s evasion skills. It increases the survivability and generate a lot of possibilities for different builds. Going full dexterity would only improve that evasion. As for the damage per second, since Fencer is a skill based damage dealer, adding higher chances of crit could be a good choice. Remember that almost all fencer damage skills are multishots.

#Observations

  • In my researches, I found out that the best way to go with fencers are either choosing classes witch dps is based on skills (such as highlander) or going for a tank/evasion with peltasta and rodelero.
  1. As erickmuinos explained to me in another post, Fencer has a special double rapier weapon that allows the dual wielding.

sw>high c3> corsair c2> fencer or corsair c1 fencer c2. Looks like a funny build, prob will try it some day.

Found out that the synergy between Corsair and Fencer is not that good, since Corsair aims for an autoattack kinda dps and Fencer’s is skillbased.

The fencer problem for me is, the class is in a ranking too high for what it deliver right now. =/
The damage isn´t that good, and the class is a strange hibrid of dps/tank, AND competing in the same tier as doppel is just too cruel /o/

Build 1: Swordsman 2…shouldn’t be used for any build. Anything else is better such as build #2 using Pelt1, Squire1, or Corsair1.

Build 3: This is a super popular build based off what others have said in the forms.

Build 5: Dopple/Fencer, Lunge + Cyclone should have great synergy since lunge will double cyclones damage. This could work for any fencer build with lots of variation for circle 1-5.
Corsair/Fencer, has good synergy for parties due to Jolly Roger

Another couple of builds could be;

Sword1/Pelt3/Corsair1/Fencer1/Dopp1
Sword1/Pelt2/Rod2/Fenc1/Dopp1

Yeah, about the first one, ppl who defend it says it should help in a pvp oriented fencer build.

Althought I like the whole tanker fencer idea, Im really thinking about building mine like:

Sword>Pelt>High3>Fencer 2 or changing a fencer rank for a doppel, just for the cyclone combo.

Don’t like the corsair mix very much, seems to me as if they are tottaly oposite classes

How many points would you dedicate to Attaque Coquille?

As a player who was not in any betas who has been following TOS for some time on a casual level, how does a full dexterity build work out for fencers?

I have 2pelt 2rodel 1fencer on Korean server.
This build is not that good… I feel like its swordman nothing nothing fencer…
Also leveling up is extremely painful because pelt2 and rodel2 is so weak. Basic attack is stronger than skills.

Curious to see if people will still go Barbx3 -> Fencer after the Skyliner nerf. Personally, I think I’m still going to go Highlanderx3.

If u could rebuild it, would you drop peltasta totally from your build?

I don’t think any Fencer would want to not at least take pelt c1 in their build. Guardian is way too good to pass up, along side Swashbuckling in PvE, especially in the current state of the game. At least Pelt c1 is definitely mandatory, I would say (as of currently anyway).

But then again, Evasion isn’t really great anymore either. However, due to the Fencer still being more evasion-based, I would think that pelt c1 is definitely still a minimum requirement. I don’t think highlander/sword c2 would give any edge over pelt anyway.

Also, sword-peltc2-rodel/rodelc2-fencer path is still the preferred tank fencer build in kToS… But yeah, damage is abyssmal, really. And Fencer’s skills are so costly to use.

Yea I wouldn’t drop peltasta. I would drop Rodel because it’s so weak!! and uses so much SP!! and it’s weak!!

Does swashbuckling works with that dual rapier for fencers? Or just if u’re using rapier and shield?

How viable is a pure dps fencer?

What do you think about dropping one rank in highlander for the third in Swordsman?

Swordsman 3 > High 2 > Fencer 2 ??

The point would be to get restrain at max lvl.
