48749th "Is My Build Rekt?" Thread

So, I went C2 Swordsman because I read somewhere that Restrain was good, but I barely ever use it so I don’t know if I’m just too lazy to press the button or if it’s actually useless.

End goal is a pure PVE Dragoon, no interest in PVP at all.
So right now I have
Swordsman C1 > Swordsman C2 > Hoplite C1 > Hoplite C2 > ? > ? > Dragoon

Is this a case of ‘REKT’ or can I continue my murder spree?

If you can kill things atleast 10 levels above you, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Restrain is more for pvp I think, though.

I’m not even fighting things my own level yet. I’m so overleveled it’s not even funny. I’m level 92 and I’m still on the level 70 quests. And I haven’t even been grinding.

in order for your build to work, you’re either giving up Hop3 for pelt 1 or Doppel for pelt 1. Recommend you to drop hop 3 for pelt 1’s swashbuckling.

Do I even need that? As it stands whenever I walk across a map any enemy within 5 miles runs straight at me. It’s funny with enemies that start combat with a buff, because as I run through the area I just hear a wave of buffs activating behind me. Lol.

you will need it in lvl250+ where you will be in constant team play and swashbuckling helps get the mobs off the squishies while you hold C to block.
swordies fall off in the 200s compared to other classes who get huge spikes in terms of CC, AOE, and buffs

Hm. I was kind of hoping to throw a rank of Cat in there to make use of this dumb bird porcupine thing I’ve been dragging around since day one. Lol. Maybe that’s not a good idea though.

On a semi-related note how much dex do you think I need? I remember during the beta tests the best swordsman build was pretty much pure dex, but I don’t think it’s that way any more. Lol.

Dex is really only very good early on. It falls off hard late. You can pretty much compensate for lack of crit rate with gear/gems. You crit way harder if you pump strength anyways, so it’s okay to crit less often.

Evasion isn’t great late game with the way things are currently set up for PvE. You can either just block physical damage or get slapped around by magic damage.

heavy crit late game is only good on fencer imo since they class revolves around the evasion buffs and the class has short cd spammable abilities that don’t scale well with STR. usually as a dragoon take 2:1 Str dex with around 30 points into con

pets are good to assist your alts, if you want to go cataphract with your current character go S2>hop1> cata2> pelt> dragoon

I think up until this point I’ve been going with a ratio like, 7 Str: 2 dex: 1 Con

Thanks for the advice.
