2min video of me playing at 1-15FPS constantly

Some info on my PC:

Windows 7 professional 64bit
DirectX 11 (i also added -dx11 at game launch through Steam)
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (6 cores)
8GB RAM
GTX960
500 MB/S Samsung SSD as Hard Drive
I’m also running Razer Cortex in background (as i read somewhere on the forum) to remove useless processes and stuff, but it didn’t work.

note:
250ms ping with a 30Mbit DSL from Europe, i usually ping 90-110 USE in Dota2

I’ve almost the same config as yours and I run at 70-180fps.

Few questions:

  • Did you upgrade your graphic card driver ?
  • Are you sure to run the game on your dedicated graphic card and not the integrated one ?

EDIT:
i installed the LATEST drivers, nothing changed.

how do i know the second part? i really doubt i have an integrated card, but if there a way to force the 960 to run i would really love to do that.

now i keep dieing at a boss gith because it goes to 0.10 FPS and the game basically stops working. will upload the video soon

I have the same problem. My notebook isn’t as good as your PC, but I belive I shouldn’t have FPS problems with a game like ToS.

Here is my config:

Windows 10 Home x64
DirectX 11.2 (i also added -dx11 at game launch through Steam)
Nvidia GT 630M 2GB
8GB RAM
i7 2.30Ghz

Both graphic adapter driver and OS are updated.

Ping is about ~200ms.

When the map is empty I get 40FPS, but as soon some monsters/players enter my screen area, the FPS goes to 8~17.

me too! I run dota 2 with max settings without any problems… sooo here is my config:

Windows 8.1 x64
DirectX11
Nvidia GT740m 2gb
8GB RAM
i3 2.60GHZ ~ 3.60 GHZ ( with turbo boost)

I get like 10 ~30 fps… 33 FPS MAX with less people in a map… I tried everything I know to fix this but still no luck. I hope TOS can help us up about this problem

I got worst specs and it gofrom 0-20+ depending how full the place is…

This is the video of where im stuck in the game now, when i trigger the quest the game lauches a few animations and it goes to 0.1 FPS and i just die there, not being able to do anything. Tried doing this 3 times, always the same problem

Hmmm you could try a memory monitoring program for you GC and see when you start your game what’s happen.

DId you tried to go to Nvidia Control Panel and in 3D settings add client_tos.exe and set High-performance NVIDIA processor. Because I had something like that my game started always with Intel HD and not with dedicated Nvidia graphics.

yeah did that already. unfortunately it doesn’t work. most of us who experience this are laptop users… i really tried everything available and doesnt work.

I do NOT have a laptop, i CANNOT choose between “high performance NVIDIA” and integrated card because, well, i DON’T have an integrated card

just the GPU won’t do any job and it all on the CPU

can someone suggest me a “monitoring” software that can tell me real time how muhc my GPU and my cores are working?

I use EVGA Precicion X if i need real time monitoring, also tested MSI Afterburner in the past both are excelnt tools that can be configured to show a lot of info in real time, GPU, CPU, temps, memory usage etc. There are other similar tools around but i have tested only those 2, i think MSI Afterburner is easier more tutorials etc.

About ur video, something really wrong there, ur PC better than mine and my client run at 60 fps most of the time with sync active, perhps the game using only 1 core plus not taking advantage of ur GPU, hope monitoring it helps u solve ur problem.

i did some tests with MSI afterburner
5 CPUs stay at 10-25% (like they do normally when the PC is running) and 1 random CPU goes to 65-70% (NEVER more than 85%)
GPU is between 0 and 15%, most of the time its at 2 or 5%, in RARE cases (map loading) it goes up to 20%
unfortunately ToS ingame video recording doesnt show Afterburner on display stats.

same. stupid. 5-15 FPS.
my specs as proof

any idea?
im really sad right now

Make sure you are using the High performance option in Windows Power Options. Helps a lot

@PerPleX thanks for your suggestion but no, nothing changed at all

its like, the game is not taking any resources from the CPU or the GPU, just running on, i dont know… i only have 1 core working at 80%… the GPU is at 3~5%… something is not right

i have a 30Mbit connection, and i ping between 150 to 200 (while in Dota2 on USE servers i ping less than 100)

i really have no idea what to do, my friend with a terrible laptop plays with 40+ fps… and my pc costed double his :expressionless:

bump :person_frowning:

I tested it myself today, my max core load was 40% and GPU load was 36%, im far from being an expert but it looks like all the work in your PC is being done by one core and all other resources are being ignored, included GPU, your PC far superior to what is needed to play ToS something is really wrong, perhaps compatibility issues?
You probably already tried it but i go to mention it just in case, there is and option in nvidia panel that looks like “Let the application decide” (sorry if this not correct my system not in English) use it, one time it solved problems i was having with a game.

Also you can try contacting support if you dint already.

Ehi thank you for your help, yes it is already set to “let the application decide” everywhere i can select it.
I opened the ticket, i’m pretty sure there is something retarded in my PC that won’t work properly, since the game is not using the GPU…

the fact that alot of people actually had to manually force the nvidia gpu to run tos properly, tells us alot about ToS and compatibility with graphic cards. so i wouldn’t say, it’s your pc…

Could someone explain how to do the -DX11 option on steam please? thanks.

PS: For Nvidia Users, apparently this works a charm - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtfU-K-7Q10
