Going for a pure DPS build for end-game partying. I saw many people choosing Warlock after Wiz3, Ele3.
But is really Warlock that useful for party PvE?
Are there any other good alternatives for Rank 7 class?

for wiz3-ele3 warlock is the best choice
featherfoot is bad if you dont have linker
sorc is bad if you cant sorc2
necro is just bad apparently
If you are willing to wait untill rank 8 comes out to have a ‘complete’ build you could go sorc1, grab a temple shooter, and just let it derp around on its own, and then pick up sorc2 at rank 8. That might be a decently potent combo, because sustained single target damage is the elementalists weak point. BUt sorc with out linker kind of sucks, and you would probably be better off doing a more traditional linker-sorc
If you want an alternative build you really want a whole other alternative build. This combo just works best togeather
super long down the line, when rank 9 unlocks, you could of course have something like wiz3-ele3-chrono3 or something, which would be decent at group support as well as self support
the standard elementalist warlock is popular because it just fits togeather so nice. Its kind of the easy mode of builds. While it is unfortunate how inflexible it is, thats also kind of its strength, because its inflexible because its just the obvious choice if you are wanting to make an aoe dd mage.
sorc pyrolinkers are pretty good, and would be welcome in a party
something like
mage-pyro-linker2-sorc2, and then linker3 perhaps. Huge joint penalty
elementalist is not the only choice you have if you want a damage build for grouping. kino based builds can fit the bill as well. People are always on about PP combos but PP on its own can be pretty strong. wizard2-kino3-cryo2, and then cryo3 at rank 8, giving you really strong controll as well as decent aoe with kino3, and something to do against bossess with cryo
Then again wizard3-kino3-warlock might be something instead.
Thats the thing, few builds fit togeather as nicley and obviously, so other builds do not have as much of an exact ‘this is what you should do’, as the elementalist based build. Thats not to say that they cant be as good or better, its just that they are not as established
As if linker1 will be very useful in endgame lv280 parties.
Better have a different party member with linker2/3.
280 is not the real endgame, and yes linker is always useful.
Or you take the burst option.
Alternative, the “build of kings”:
Linker 1 is practicly useless in the late game whit the nerf, and JP doesn’t give enough links in the late game unless you atless get linker 2.
Wiz 3 into Ele 3 is the best dps build for wizard right now and just as no room for linker.
Number of links alone isn’t really a valid reason though. You can’t use a monster gem to take linker2 from 8 to 9 links. The difference between 6 and 8 is pretty minor to justify an entire rank.
10 seconds of hangman made linker2 much more efficient in late game content. Pls ask devs to stop hurting linker its had enough. 
True,linker got axed pretty hard all around, you have to sink 15 skill points in HK to get a 4 second cc and that’s not even talking about the 50% cooldown increase on JP.
