I think it was slightly dishonest, but people have no right to be mad about it. You are correct that no matter what, people will yell at IMC. They threw a tantrum when they found out all of those accounts were made illegally and demanded action. Now that IMC has taken action, they are furious about that action. You just cannot please everyone.

just waiting for this post:

[HOW DARE IMC FIX THESE PROBLEMS WE’VE BEEN EXPERIENCING]
after months of dealing with these problems, players were finally getting used to it, and now IMC has gone and ruined everything by fixing all the problems people were complaining about! as a paying f2p customer, i demand that IMC restore all content to its semi-broken state immediately or else something something!

If the prices never been localized, there’d be no problem, people would just buy the pack they can afford and plan their future payments/spendings, but IMC decided to go for localized prices, and announced a sale before even game was released. So most people planned their purchases, saved some money according to their regional prices + %30 off and were waiting for the 26th.Of course they are not happy, IMC f*cked plans of lots of players.

IMC decided nothing, actually.
they said “here’s the american prices”
Steam then went and adjusted for local RL economy
IMC said “that’s kind of unfair if the price of the pack is like half as much even after currency exchange is accounted for”
and Steam said “well, it’s your game”… and brought all the prices in line with each other.

check the news, they posted about it today.

F2p release has been delayed until “mid-may”

Because there are people who still benefit from the old prices, and now they are butthurt. Simple. Why would one make such a big fuss over something’s change when this change has more benefits to the playerbase/game.

that’s only a month and change old. definitely nothing has changed since then.

apparently “Steam Standards” doesn’t account for the fact that certain sections of the playerbase can buy things at what amounts to a permanent 50% off sale… meaning even if they sell it for [an equivalent of] 75% of regular price, they’re still making a profit, which is unfair to those who can’t buy it cheap.

IMC decided that allowing some players to continue to have the same advantage lead to an exploitable situation, and decided to ask Steam to normalize all the prices. thus the prices should now all be roughly equivalent to $30 or $50 US, with minor variations for whatever local currency exchanges at for the day.

They are even going the extra mile to give the SEA and SA servers special versions of everything that are regionally priced to their area so they have an easier time affording them but can only be used on their servers, so no one in US/UK/EU will complain about them getting them cheaper. So it works out for everybody.

You do realize, they put founder packs into sale month ago right ? Servers are just 3 week old.

Oh by the way, you know Steam can’t just decide and put product with regional prices without developers consent right ? The reason we had regional prices was not because steam forced IMC to do so, IMC decided that.

and -you- realize, i assume, that time passing is time passing, regardless of how much or how little time you think it might be.
a lot of things are learned, and a lot of assumptions about “how things are going to work” get updated during the launch period of a game, when the devs have a chance to see “how things are actually being used”

go read and learn.

it’s standard steam policy to use regional pricing.
when IMC realized how it was unfair to the in-game economy, and how it was being abused by botters/RMT’s, they requested it be switched to a standard pricing instead of a regional pricing.

1st FAQ:

OMG WTF BBQ those price differences across regions are ridiculous. Be ashamed of yourself, Valve!?
Well, the prices may differ heavily but don’t blame Valve - they don’t force the prices. Each publisher is on his own responsibility. Valve sets a price for a region only if the publisher doesn’t care about it.

translation: by default, we use wildly different regional pricing, but if the game company cares enough to complain, we’ll change it for them.

I guess you are having hard time putting pieces together, ok I’ll do that for you too.

If IMC didn’t want regional prices, they could simply state that to steam, before dlc’s hit the shelves but they decided to go with it, and made an announcement and faq about it, only to change their opinion later, with no explanation just before the “sale”.Well, they did make an announcement, 2 days after price change happened.
