No idea, but looking at it doesn’t stack with weapons you can say it doesn’t.

Answer is simple:
for PvP = red gem
for PvM = yellow gem

Gems on weapon (like red) > No changes on the physical attack value of the weapon, changes apply on stats
trans doesn’t work
Gems on armor (yellow) > The defense value of the item directly gets updated. Example, 100 def to 150 def written on the item desc when you use yellow gem lv5

afaik blue gems on corona rods also get multiplied by transcedence.
So yellow gems on armor should work the same.

70 + 70 = 140.
it’s stage 7 , base lolopanther 179 , anvil +75 (+9)
179 + 25 = 254 , base without transcend
Transcend 140% = 254 * 2.4 = 609.6
609.6 +70 + 70 = 749.6 --> round down = 749

Best to treat gems the same as what head gear provides. Only good thing it does is it still work with buff mods lel.
Also TOS encourages you to stick to 1 armor set and high transcending it. you can see the amount of defenses you can get via doing this.
By doing this you can literally breeze through PDEF/MDEF checks
For now roflpanter is the best bet until solmiki is out.

How about a pure int wizard? I got 2 blue gems on boots and red gems on top and bottom.
Should I also change to yellow gems on my top and bottom for more defense? They say it wouldnt matter since spions/ archers will 1 hit you anyway.

Blue spion archers? Just wear any 220 plate set + Aspersion, they will hit you just 1 dmg. That’s how good DEF is. 
just take a shield if you want added safetly especially Didel tower shield.
It’s extremely disgusting. My meme had 1.2k def with aspersion and i can handle 330 very well. Still have small issue with magic defense. Since i have not ■■■■ my blue gem on shoes and hyper upgrade my aa bangles.

I think those monsters aren’t really a problem with full plate+aspersion, it won’t be “1”, but somewhere around 200± with spiral arrows, assuming you don’t use a shield
If you want to lower their damage maybe try to +4 your armor, or put level 5 budget yellow gems, cheap and effective.
i used the same armor set+aspersion that usually 1dmg blue spion archer’s spiral arrow, facing red spion archer’s in 1 second it makes me choose between respawn or use soul crytal
level difference does hurt.
I am using virtov +5 full set 900 3 plate ( def) red spion hits me 1-30 at same level.
i think grynas greave is better than virtov plate boot because it has 2 slot and higher evasion, IMO. virtov plate gauntlet and boot doesnt boost pdef, only gives block penetration (good for ET) and block
Use Hasta for boots if you ever get the chance to use it.
I hate virtov greaves too but I am forced to use it for the minor bonus
