Which Exp Rate will we Have in OBT? ^^ Serious discussion

Yep, and I hear that Lv200-285 it’s look like 50-99 in RO pre-renewval

PFFF

xD.

Anyways.

I guess we won’t have much to wait, for us to find out what rate we will get ^^.

I hope they start with the same events like in ktos… just no pc room ones xD.

I think we are in a bit of a catch22.

  1. The cooldown system early on when you with few skills makes you feel like you’re always waiting on your one or two buttons to finish cooldown–not fun. So we want leveling to be fast at the start so you get a variety of skills quickly.
  2. When you level quickly at the start of the game for a long time it’s very jarring when we hit the slow progression later in the game. The slower progression that’s designed to be meaty and at least a partial replacement for item treadmills that many modern MMOs use.

You could move some of the overall grind earlier in the characters career rather then piling the lion share up near the end. Might help.

I think something that directly relates to grinding as well is how fun it is. And I’ve been hearing a lot of complaints about people saying they only get good XP in dungeons late game. Is that something a vocal few are saying? Or are people really averaging significantly more XP in dungeons?

Cause I’m worried I’m going to get up to high level and feel like if I’m not in a dungeon I’m slow like a snail compared to everyone else. Cause I know from iCBT I didn’t like running dungeons more than a couple times a day.

That’s true.

But the start is where they want to hook newbies in xD.

Aye, and that adds to the catch22 effect.

pretend we are all newbies, 2x

It’s been a while since I saw that ^^ last time…
Back then we ended basically all sentences with a^^ !!!

Ah and yeah, back then I lost patience when I was lvl 96 on old EuRo. Then I kinda lost track…

I didn’t care for leveling at some point.

Sitting aroudn chatting.
WOE.
Helping people in payon.
Midning guidl events.
Ball Dances, Quizz, Breeding Enchanted Soil … yeah, pre nerf to cloneing.

(WE angered a GM alot xD… we all were suspended for 12 hours into the jail … just to make sure we don’t do it again. Guess, when someone things … “Wait … could we clone these infinitely? …gold? hrhr… GUILD MASTER!!”.)

Good times xD… i never reached 99… i was 97 for life. EuRo died too soon…

I have this disease from back then.
^^
xD
/omg
/!
/hi
etc.

I spam these emotes … even if they dont work… shouldnt have chatted so much. Was better then ICQ back then … less pedophiles and idiots xD.

At some point I ran around and forcehealed everyone in sight. In payon, that place where the soils got pummeled by swordies, that hidden dungeon with these undead firerifle skeletons… stuff like that.

Still confused about why they buffed the early 100 levels.

I mean that part is at a ridiculously quick pace compared to anything 200+, but not just do you constantly have a ton of quests to do (until 200…), they even added a second set of quests for the early part. And then they made that part even faster for no reason.

I feel like that drastic difference between early and “late”-game would be the bigger turn-off for new players. When the game feels like a breeze for 5 ranks or so, and then comes to a hardcore grindfest halt, while at the same time the quests stop altogether, and the mobs get deadlier without really giving more exp than earlier mobs did.

There needs to be a fine balance in all of it.
Quests shouldn’t give that much that you don’t have to grind AT ALL early on, while grinding should feel rewarding as often and in as many ways as possible (rather than seeming like something that should be strategically avoided by saving exp-cards at specific points as some “wise” person said in a “guide” on the internet lol. it shouldn’t come to this at all IMO)

I like the boosts from party-matching and exp-card drops from monsters etc they’ve implemented to boost the grind, rather than just plainly buffing the exp directly. Those more creative boosts are the right approach.

Also, the EXP-cards themselves are not a well thought-through concept IMO. They allow for that “HUGE-CHUNKS-OF-EXP via spamming a hotkey”-moments, which ARE really fun, for a brief moment, but at the expense of making the grinding after it seem way more unbearable than it actually is. I’m probably alone on this one, but I’d prefer if the EXP came directly from the quests, in small bits for every step. But it’s pretty much a core mechanic of the game at this point so nevermind that. And then again, they do allow for some control over leveling spots, as you can use them when you run out of good places to grind, to propel yourself to some dungeon req etc.

As for the rates we’ve seen so far.
Correct me if I’m wrong
first CBT had 1x
then later ones had 3x
including the iCBT2, which even had 6x in the final week.
official kTOS now has like 2x 1-100 and 1x after that.

IMO they should keep the 3x (but reduce the exp-card values from quests by half), but all we can do is wait and see if it’s just what kTOS gets or something else.

Sounds like a drug dealer, trying to get new customers by giving out crack for free first.
And once they’re addicted… why not buying some EXPx2 pots from our cash-shop to reduce grinding?

xD… yeah.

But it’s how it works.

And heck.

I will sell tokens from time to time for ingame money, if the value is good.
Farm for 5 hours, or work for 30 minutes? Easy math xD.

Atleast if i could do somethign more fun at the time of farming stuff.

And Exp Books. I think these are usefull … lategame. If you want to speed up grind a bit. Dungeons only xD.

We will get free books too at start xD… and i will laugh at people pooping them at low level open maps xD…

I bought FACTORIO on steam friday… played only 20 hours …
I never had so much fun… grinding materials with factorys and building logistic.

Then i stared at it … and said.

“HECK! THIS IS TRAIN!”

… I went bat-sh-it with a buggy … killed myself duo running into a box of tnt…
Then got rolled over by my own train …
Then i died … trough simply going out of the car while it’s still moving~

It took me 5 hours to build a working train station system xD.
Grinding time good spent.
(with dafety rails… and passing blocks … for obvious reasons. God bless autosave… each 3minutes…)
