Don’t forget the dog :o That’s another confirmed / possibly limited to one class in terms of skills (like the Hawk) companion.

These companions are going to bring in some cash! I can see it already. 0_0

questions pls!

1.is the companion a mercenary sort of system? cause they level right?
2.can a companion be mounts for everyone? or are they limited only to some class?
3.can we use skill/attack while ridding them? (in regards to question 2 if we can ride them)
4.are our companions limit or unlimited?
5.can we use different companions? or just 1 for whole life @_@

well just some wild question raised! @_@ i want a companion that i dont want to regret choosing! haha

I hope they put up a Hidden Companion xD like they wont even release any info about it, but some random NPC does give info about Secret Companions that you can get, like a wolf or a raptor

  1. Not sure.
  2. Yes, everyone can ride a mount, but only a few classes can get bonuses while riding it.
  3. Depends on the skills. Each job has some skills that can’t be used while riding a mount and vice versa.
  4. I do not understand the question.
  5. We probably can change it.

well the 4th question is about if the companion will expired (time limit of use then renew the companion with the same level gained)…

well i hope we can use companions only for rinding (speed boost) while the classes that has bonuses can use it for attacking/skills… also, their gonna ban them in PvP aspects right? otherwise… imbalances! XD

5.You can use different companions but you will have to switch in the barrack i think.
Companions take 1 slot in the barrack so you will have to choose how many characters/companions you want.
Upgrade the barrack for more character slots in one account. (you start with 4 slots)

They also are connected separately to each character you have through an affection system. ^^

woah… guess im not making alts for now XD until my barracks widens i guess haha

oh… so how does affection system works? @_@ is it like feeding them and increasing affection points? haha

I don’t think they’ve explained it completely. But probably something like to get the pet at their full strength you have to have played with them a lot. Feeding and petting and leveling.

Edit: Here’s the original post from over a year ago. The video at the end especially explains some things. The last line of the post makes me excited for any unique functions of currently unknown pets.

Some companions can’t be riden nor it can help us in battles, but they will either help us in transportation or in other ways. There will be many types of companions in the game.

Companions have their own stats and levels, of which I assume will be tied to this (the full potential thing). Below is an image of the pet UI (this will probably have been changed by the time IBT comes out):

Companions also have a defensive and offensive equip slot (claws and various forms of armor). The weapons seem to be fairly linear in progression, but from what I saw while editing, companion armor has a tiers within each different armor type (cloth, leather, plate). Also, all of this only applies to the two mountable companions - I have no idea if the hawk has or will have a similar system.

Edit: doing some incredibly simple counting shows that for each level the companion gains, it gets a skill / stat point

now i realy want a companion that heals me XD

Hopefully the pooch can lick your wounds :dog2:

well not actualy a dog like companion… like, i do the tanking while my companion do the healing XD
some kind of soloing kind of companion maybe =3="

Yeah, hopefully they’ll have something like that, or at least rework the helper system so Clerics actually heal.

well true… otherwise clerics will not be needed @_@"

also… it’ll be hard for healer to heal both companions and party members… will they separate healings? or they are covered by any types of mass heals? or companions are ban when in party? @_@

Thanks for the info @Naemhain & @Sourpuss

The companion system looks to be even better and more addictive than I had imagined @_@

-Equipable items and armour.
(cloth, leather or plate? XD)

-Helps you in combat.
(maybe healing or buffing companions or with other special abilities? =o)

-Every class can use them as mounts!
(Some class have special mount abilities like peco knights!)

-Add to all that the possibility of rare drop or hard to tame companions!

-Cash shop companions!

I am drooling >_<
