LOL I think it does. You have to get there before the owner and just wait out the 10 min grace period I guess. 
Yep if the owner leaves his plant and someone else talks to the plant and not quit the dialogue, the owner can’t harvest it because he can’t talk to it. The thief can hold it after the 10 min grace period and could get it successfully.
So we as a owner,need to hold the spacebar and we cannot leave our seeds for an hour?
