@PrinceMark
You are repeating yourself. Iâm not denying that server load can and will add to overall delay, but server load isnt the only factor of delay. You are talking about apples while im talking about oranges and you are trying to prove me wrongâŚ
âBoth endsâ have a distance between them that produces additional 150ms latency that is detrimental to gameplay irrelevant of server load. Checkmate.

Is fun to see people thinking there will be 100k player playing this game after 1 week. Every â â â â â â â MMO gets crowded at launch, and every fuucking MMO let the early hype influence their decision and open more servers.
1 month later one of the servers becomes a ghost town ( or both of them ) and they need to merge.
Tree of savior WILL NOT BE A âBLOCKBUSTERâ After the early hype thereâll be 10k active players max. ( if theyâre doing good⌠)
Since youâre generalizing and telling every MMOs are the same, I just have to find 1 counter example to prove you wrong.
Well one of many successfull recent mmo : Warframe disagrees with you.
Crowded or populated aside, Warframe can not be used as an example in any way, shape or form.
The reason being, itâs a session-based game with peer to peer hosting which does not have dedicated servers for combat missions. Instead, the player who starts a mission becomes a host for another 3-7 players. Itâs not uncommon to see people shouting in chat âLooking for someone with a good connection to host %mission_name for me!â.
ToS is a persistent world MMO, and unless you want every player hosting his own copy of the area theyâre currently in, Warframeâs approach wonât work.
That said, my ping to east cost US is over 180 on a good day and over 250 more often than not. And this is going to be a problem - proven by FFXIV which hosted âEUâ servers in Canada at first - which led to a bunch of pleasant experiences like this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbaqy_rUxys
(explanation - a player sees the boss casting an AoE attack, moves far out of the danger zone and STILL gets hit)
So nope, it wonât work when servers come under heavy load and start lagging. We need regional servers.
Itâs only an example to prove that MMOs can be a big hit, and not predetermined to fall in a 10k forgotten population as stated aboveâŚ
That aside, investing into servers wonât make you a big hit, but it will add more chances on your side. You canât win the lottery if you donât participateâŚ
IMC is not in a position to risk even more. Theyâre not experienced in the ocident MMO market and the Korean version of the game is a fiasco. Maintain additional servers costs money that IMC probably cant spend.
Theyâre using their own money to make ITOS happen. Most MMOâs have partners or publishers to pay the server/maintenance costs. iTOS dont have it.
