Thoughts on Battle Priest

Okay, so I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong here, but tried resetting my full support Priest to a battle STR-DEX-SPR one (thinking that I could properly solo quest bosses with better dps), only to fall dead in every attempt. Thrice. Then again, the boss was like 9 levels above me and I didn’t invest CON points at all, so it was reasonable.

Back on topic, are battle priests really the way to go in TOS, unlike your conventional full support one? I browsed through reddit, and majority of what I got was that going FULL full support would be useless, since you’ll end up as a heal/buff slave and not do much hitting with your mace. This is putting into mind that we won’t be getting resets once the official game servers open up to the public, since leveling a battle priest can be easier compared to a full support (more party-dependent).

Yeah just read this thread and you’ll know how to be a battle priest.

That and his other thread too

Depends on how you want to play really.

Some people actually really like to play as a full support for a party. I’ve got a friend that only plays while I’m online since he can’t really do much by himself. But he’s one of those people that have that weird passion for playing as a support type that most people can’t feel and understand. If that makes sense.

i’m currently a lvl 91 battle priest c3 (pre monk) and i’m at 110 dex 60 str, hitting 500~700x2 (around 1300 per hit in total) with sacrament+blessing, not counting the crits that are around 40% right now. I’m equipping an arde dagger and a maulos club +3. It was never so easy to grind or to solo bosses, it’s even stronger than my same lvl barbarian, because the sustained damage is really high. For full support i think cleric c3 would be better imo.

You died in this game? How?

On a more serious note just go pure str, get as much attribute into blessing as you can afford. Use aspersio/blessing/sancti. Heal+group heal if you take damage (Just walk a few steps to the left/right when the boss turns to face you and stops, should never die).

Due to the Str bonus there is really no need for any other stats (The damage formula is very simple if you want to do math and see that dex isn’t worth the crit or accuracy). If you need sp then drink small sp potions (I carry 100 at all times).

Priest are way better supports than cleric c3. Ever since the nerf to divine might that is. BTW , that maulos club, where did you get it? I’ve been looking for one.

i prefer c2-c3 priest over cleric. go for bless + sac buff combo, and you can do tons of damage as you go solo and you have a good party wide buffs.

i suggest go try 3STR-1CON-1SPR. CON for survivability, SPR for mana regen. STR on damage. but focus on STR.

Thank you for sharing the link! I’ve skimmed through it a bit and got some pretty informative notes. I’ll continue reading more of this later.

This is SOOOO me, which is why it was a bit hard for me to adjust at first when trying out a battle priest build.

I’d second to the other posters. Priest buffs are just too irresistible NOT to get, especially Bless + Sac. Plus there was a nerf done to DM back then, and I don’t find Guardian Saint being better buff options than that of the Priest tree (unless your main reason to go for that is to have Lv15 Heal/Safety/Deprot, in which I believe aren’t as good as the previous skills).

3STR-1CON-1SPR. CON for survivability, SPR for mana regen. STR on damage.

Re-rolled my Priest a while back and used this build. I’m able to survive a bit longer due to the added bulk, though I talked to a Monk class a few minutes ago and said that in later runs, CON might not be as viable considering the number of burst-damage skills world bosses throw at you (most probably 1HKO-ing you).

Though I might just keep the CON. It adds a bit of Weight Capacity and Defense.
