Tree of Savior Forum

The journey to high lvl

Hello,

I’d like to share my journey to what I call high lvl. ATM I am 262, and I honestly think beside ET things won’t change as game feeling from where I am to 280.
First of my build: Pyro 2 > Linker 1 >Sorcerer 2 > Featherfoot
You got to understand I did not jump into the game and did random stuff, on the contrary I search a freaking long time before choosing anything. The main keywords of my search were “best solo class tree of savior”.
First tips for every beginner, you will find a lot of info, but a lot are outdated, or plain wrong. My build is also one of the main featured build on the build public database:

The build is well written and I honestly liked the general idea behind it: permanent damage.
I will make a guide on the reality of the build and those classes in the second part of the post.

Here are some tips before you begin:
First off, go look up on some guides for leveling, there are shits ton, but here is a link:

Always try to find guides that are not hosted on the official forum, because he tends to be inaccessible a lot of time…
The major info you have to keep in mind during the leveling is the one that says you have to grind in demon prison in order to jump from 160 to 175 with cards. All the rest is meh.

Second download some mods, especially the one for map completion, LKchat (no more bots spamming), and the quest one (it’s fucking amazing).
Oh and yeah always complete 100% of exploration on the map, it will give you nice xp boost.

And third keep the world map and the database close to you:

Other tips:
In fact a very important one that I wish I knew: there is no such thing as solo build content.
What I mean is the real solo content of the game is NOT challenging at all, it can be done with litteraly every class in the game. And further more the dungeon system has a matchmaking system that is MORE REWARDING then pre made system. So you don’t need to know anybody in the game or have friends or a guild to enjoy pve leveling content.
If you are not free to play, don’t use your xp tome in any other thing then dungeon and lvl100 instanced mission. There is a post somewhere that will explain you why go do some research.

So my journey:
From 1 to 40
I mainly did sweet quest and I ate my xp scroll like candy and there was no backlash. Just eat scroll so you are always in the “level required zone” (you will have some spare one)
Tip: You will have to travel between the two quest line from both city, the best way is to buy some scrolls that will allow you to teleport from one city to another. They cost 500silver. Well realistically you only need to buy one.

At lvl 50
Do the dungeon
Now here is what you got to understand about the lvl 50 dungeon:
People will play like potatoes as any beginner in the game
Matchmaking will not always give you a healer, and your run will be long and tedious (well this applies for all level and all matchmaking stuff in the game)
People at that level are scrooge they will not use potions so, you will spend a good amount of time sitting next to bond fire.
There is no notable drops in this dungeon so meh

At level 40:
There was my first grind spot at the yogome place. I grinded solo for a couple levels. You got to understand that this grind is not mandatory at all.

From 50 to 90
I did all them sweet quest same as before I ate my xp scroll like candy and there was no backlash. Just eat scroll so you are always in the “level required zone” (you will have some spare one)

At lvl 90 do the dungeon
People are still potatoes, and don’t have potion.
But in this dungeon there is the almighty arde dagger.

Gear Tips: You need arde dagger. Realistically it’s the most “worth it” item in the game. You can be 280 and still use it…
At that point every dungeon has something interesting and very valuable. So what I did is create an investment cash pool, so I roll at least one cube. I did this for the rest of the game and I am not disappointed in this decision.
Personally I did not drop arde, I sold two token for 550k each at that time to buy arde 750k. Honestly don’t hesitate to invest silver for arde.
As for the rest of the gear, well the quest line will give you good enough gear. In fact overall for mage at least, you don’t need anything then quest gear (aside from arde) until 170. Oh and do not bother upgrading stuff that is not 170 “bis” (best in slot) or “near bis”.

From 90 to 115
I did all them sweet quest same as before I ate my xp scroll like candy and there was no backlash. Just eat scroll so you are always in the “level required zone” (you will have some spare one). Do your daily quest and mission.
At lvl 100 you will unlock two new stuff daily quest, and daily mission. Do them for the sweet xp. For the daily mission don’t bother trying any other then the first one on the list or be ready to wait forever in queue.

Dongeon 115
People are still potatoes, and don’t have potion.
In this dungeon the notable drop is ledas shield.

Gear tips: Ledas shield can be used as a replacement for arde dagger. You will trade of a bit of damage for a bit survivability. One thing to note is that ledas shield for some weird reason is a non tradable item.
I personally did not drop anything on this dungeon

From 115 to 132
I did all them sweet quest same as before I ate my xp scroll like candy and there was no backlash. Just eat scroll so you are always in the “level required zone” (you will have some spare one). Do your daily quest and mission.

Dungeon 132
People are still potatoes, and don’t have potion.
In this dungeon there is the very good petamion (necklace)

Gear Tips: Petamion is a very good necklace that is mendatory to create later in the game Max petamion wish is “near bis” item for every class.
I got lucky and actually droped petamion recipe (OH YEAH).

From 132 to 145
I did all them sweet quest same and started to hoard xp card at lvl144. Do your daily quest and mission.

Dongeon 145
People are still potatoes, and don’t have potion.
There is no notable drop for mage in this dungeon
I did not drop anything in this dungeon

From 145 – 160
Grind… Do your daily quest and mission.
Go read on some guides on why you have to grind but grind. The map is demon prison 2. My class set up was actually was very good for that place and I could even grind very efficiently alone. But try to party if you can. Just watch general chat for some demon prision grind and hop in.
Now demon prison grind:
The main reason this grind can be tedious is because you will spend a GOOD amount of time battling with other groups and kill stealing every freaking body. It’s lame. But the xp per hour is good, and the silver per hour is actually very good.
The sense of progression is still ok.
Theoricaly the grind is not mandatory, if you play casual you can level up still nicely enough with just doing mission and dungeon and daily quest. But if you wanna progress fast… GRIND

From 160 to 175
Used all my card as the guide says
The general consensus for the 160 dongeon is that it’s bad, and the drop is bad.

From 175 to 190
I did all them sweet quest same as before I ate my xp scroll like candy and there was no backlash. Just eat scroll so you are always in the “level required zone” (you will have some spare one). Do your daily quest and mission.

Dongeon 175
People will start to play ok, and some of them will have potion (hurray)
There are two notable drops from this dungeon Aias shield and Ignition Recipe.

Gear Tips: Aias shield is IMO the “bis” shield of this game in a defense point of view. Now realistically as a mage you could use it, but it will not be as efficient as if you were a melee class… So I don’t really know if the trade of damage form arde is good. Then again it depends on your build (for instance me as pyro with only multiple hit spell, arde is just too good).
Ignition Rod is a “near bis” rod that you can still use at 280. The proc is kinda bugged since it does not scale (well that is what I read from another post). But even bugged the tic from it combine with arde gives a good damage boost. Now I would not recommend to specially investing for it. The item has a market price of 2.3m. And at level 220 you have access to the superior corona rod, that does not do anything fancy, but has a high damage value to make it still usable at 280 also.
As for me I actually droped Aias shield, from this dungeon (by rolling two cubes per daily session), and then traded aias shield recipe for ignition.

Still on the gearing tips, once you hit 175, you have access to roxona gear. Some say that they are over rated but realistically they are still “near bis” items and you can keep them to 280. If you have time or money to spend you can try to get them, if not just wait for random good stat 220 gear.
I personally farmed the roxona plate set. I bought the complex and dullahan parts, and farmed the rest. It’s tedious tho.

As a mage you also have access to wizard bracelet. These are “near bis” bracelet that can easily be farmed. It’s one of the few near bis item that does not come from a recipe. Go look up on where to farm them. I personally farmed one and bought the other one.

From 190 to 217
I did all them sweet quest same as before I ate my xp scroll like candy and there was no backlash. Just eat scroll so you are always in the “level required zone” (you will have some spare one). Do your daily quest and mission.

Dongeon 190
People start to play ok, and bring pots
Most notable drop is the max petamion, and for mages Maga Rod is nice.

Gear Tips: Max Petamion is a “near bis” necklace for all the classes.
Maga rod is an ok rod, but I think it’s outshined by superior corona at 220 (this is purely IMO).
I did not drop anything from that dungeon. So I bought the Max petamion recipe (1m). Fact is the real expensive one is the petamion itself at least on my server.

Dongeon 200
People start to play ok, and bring pots
There is no notable drop in this dungeon for mages, but there are a LOT for other classes, like if you manage to get your hands on manamana recipe, you are in for the money.

Gear Tips: I think this dungeon holds the most wanted total of items. It can be rushed. So it’s a really good dungeon to farm past 254.
My leveling runs on this dungeon I did not drop anything. But during my farm run I droped catacombs pike (sell value 2.2m), and catacomb rapier.

From 217 to 240
This is where everything starts to get more and more a grind fiesta
Quest stops at 232. So yeah there is that…
Here how it will go down; either you can choose to save your card or not is a relative matter, I would recommend to save some to jump from 250 to 252.

Now for Alemeth, killing truffles Grind (210-230):
It’s crowded, so there again you will battle KS other group for 3 mobs
There is this weird stun mechanic that will make you wonder what the dev were thinking, and also hit your screen.
You well experience the channel hoping, it’s basically the place is so full for so few you have to farm on 3 channels to be efficient… I hope you like loading screens
The xp per hour and silver is ok, and the sense of progression is still ok because you can combine mission xp plus a little grind plus dungeon xp.

Now for Evacuation grind (228 – 248):
It’s not as crowded as alameth… but from now on it’s RUNNING time. You will farm in that HUGE place where you will run again and again and again… That’s were chrono 3 starts to shine tho.
But the biggest change is that you will NEED a group set up, well more exactly you will NEED a taunt and a heal. And getting a taunt is not that easy. Making or finding a group will start to be tedious.
And the icing on the cake is, this map is freaking in the middle of nowhere you will have to walk a ton just to get there.
Thank god you can do the 240 dungeon that will give you good xp.

Dungeon 217
People play ok, and everyone has pots (HURRAY)
Notable drop in this dungeon is Animus necklace, and Otrava shield. Good thing about it is the dungeon drop list is quite short so you have a good chance to get either of thoses 2.

Gear Tips: Animus is a niche necklace for full CON mages. I think it could be quite good for a cryo PVP oriented build
Otrava shield is IMO the “bis” shield for mages and honestly IMO the best left hand for dps mage. You can finally throw your arde. The shield will give you almost on par damage with arde + added defense value.
I actually dropped otrava shield recipe.

Dongeon 240
People play good, and everyone has pots
This dungeon drops the 220 set, but the mats for most of the parts are not available in the game, making all the drops from this dungeon kinda useless (don’t invest cube roll money).

Gear tips: This one is not really a tip but more of an open discussion… I don’t understand cloth for mages… why would any mage not wear plate… In pure defense/offence value plate is IMO way superior to cloth…

Saalus covent 240+
It’s a weir mission dungeon that has its own daily counter. It does not give any xp (why dev WHY), and yet can be hard. It scales on the highest level of the party. Oh and reset voucher does not reset that mission.
Do not queu for this, try to set up a groupe or hop in a groupe
The cube from this mission drops a “bis” necklace wish is a slightly better version of max petamion, and bis bracelet for mages that NEED wizard bracelet to be crafted
It drops bis stuff for

From 240 to 254
Why 254 you will ask? Well that is the ultimate for ever grind starting point. At 254 the 240 dungeon will not give you enough xp anymore. Honestly the 240 dungeon gives a ■■■■ ton of xp, and makes all the evac grind smoother. I honestly recommend player to stop here and reroll.

Storage grind (252-272)
There it is… Weirdly enough people stop ks(well most of them imo) here maybe because they are the grown up elite few to continue playing (lel).
Storage… Be prepare to run… a lot, like evac was a joke… The xp per hour at the beginning seems ok, but the more you level up the worst it gets to the point where you start to bleed from your eyes and stop looking at the xp bar because it depress you.
The silver per hour is crap, I mean uber crap. But at this point you can farm the lvl200 dongeon in order to drop good stuff, but you better be lucky (or any dungeon with a valuable drop list).
I mean the grind is so great I almost feel asleep once grinding there….
OFC you will need a taunt and a heal

At level 260 2 new things arrived for me:
People will start to get elitist, and if you are not “meta”, you might struggle to find a group
I think very few person atm on my server want to grind that much. So you will start to grind with the same person’s, and you will start to socialize wish is very nice.

If you want to be grind Meta choose any of these:
Heal class
Taunt / Tank class
Elem 3

Honorable mention for grind Meta:
Chrono 3
Linker
Archer

There is a new grind map at 265, but I am not there yet.

My Build:

Pyromancer C2
Pyro hits hard at early and mid game, and has a nice synergy with linker.
But the class has 2 main problems:
First. The physical status of the fire ball, mainly any party member that will TOUCH the ball will throw it to oblivion. So if there is ONE melee player it’s done the skill is useless. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to play in a group, like NO, sometimes you will try but every freaking time it will be mana lost. And that is a major issue because the dps lost is insane.
Second. The damages falls off late game, and GOD its falls of pretty bad… So combine the facts that one skill is useless in group and the rest does low damage, and the fact that you will perma groupe past 210…. There you go your class is kinda garbage.
Oh and it’s garbage in pvp for obvious reason, but then again pvp in this game is a joke.

tl,dr: I’d rate pyro 4/10, would not recommend

Linker C1
OMG this will SAVE your sorry ass. Linker offers so much utility solo and in group, and you don’t even need C2 or 3, it’s just really good.
So much that now when I look for a groupe I say “linker / dd” like the freaking C2 linker is more interesting then my other class…
Oh just one thing don’t use the physical link between player at low level you will wipe the whole groupe because of the potato players

Tl, dr: I’d rate linker C1 10/10 would take any day

Sorcerer C2
Sorcerer is a weird class, and I think you should read guides about it, it’s kinda complex.
But what you got to understand is, C1 alone is trash because of the AI, also don’t use any other stuff than temple shooter, like I am not joking, if it’s not temple shooter do not summon it…
But once you have C2, well it’s a nice class TS (temple shooter) hits hard, and with hold skill it’s nice (don’t use attack ground). Bats are nice damage also.
The real problem is that the class is not “grind” viable. The sp drain and the fact that you have to run marathon while grinding will make the summon unusable, well that is if you don’t want to spend millions on potions. So in the end your main dps power is unusable…
Oh and you will still use a ■■■■ ton of pots because you will use your summon during other stuff like dungeon or mission, and to make the sp + skill viable you will need lvl10 sp potion.
BUT WAIT, there is one thing that is awesome about this class… THE CAT BUFF, yes this skill is like jesus, I think it’s one of the best buff in the game. Like it’s ONE skill that will give you infinite mana , damage boost, and defense boost, to the hole group.

Tl, dr: I’d rate sorcerer C2 6/10 the class deserves a better grade but the current grind reality kinda makes it pointless.

Featherfoot:
In the end that was the class I really wanted to play all along…
The major problem with my build is that anything can interrupt my channel time on the drain skill. I wonder if wiz2 could fix that… One thing to note is that
The class deals very good damage as long as you are with the “right” type of mob. It’s not really an issue for grind since all the grind spot until now has this “right type”.
I honestly think this class needs to be paired with linker.
The drain life skill will eat your mana bar… like literally.
But with the “right type” mob, it’s simple as long as you have mana you are immortal
The class has some problem:
The fact that decay is bugged
The fact that a fart stops the channeling
And the fact that if you use your skill on a mob that is not the “right type” it will do almost NO DAMAGE, I mean I would understand if it does not heal me, but no damage BRO com on…
Oh also the bone point thing… it has a physical reality… even weirder than fire ball… you wanna know why ? Because ENEMY can hit it, so if a mob does an aoe it will send your bone flying to oblivion…

Tl, dr: I’d rate featherfoot 11/10 because I freaking love the class but in reality… 6/10 way to circumstantial, but did I told you that mana=immortal ? And if you compare it so warlock consistency… 5/10

In the end I won’t lie sometime I just wish I could change to the cookie elem3 shenanigans. But welp I still love my char and he is still viable.

Nice post here. I’m almost done with my cup of coffee. Atleast some of us know what is waiting for us.:smile_cat:

I hope you get more views and replies, this is by far one of my favorite read on tos fourms

Wow thanks fam, it took me a long time to for that guide and it did not get so much views.
I guess i should have posted it in general topic…
Anyway thanks mate

so no more chicken circle reset??

Still nice post…Well done!
u haz my likez

I still don’t play the game anymore tho
And yeah it was a troll post, i was trired of making contructive one

I still come on the forum for the circle reset news.
I know they will do it, but i am afraid they will do it too late for me.
Welp thx for the like ma dude

nor do i mate… im just watching forums

OP have funny english but i like it ^_^/

English is not my native language that is why

Turns out that it’s good this isn’t in the general discussion section, that thing became an off-topic full of s***storms that “send any good info flying into oblivion” (it’s funny to read, but overall useless).

@Topic
Very good insights. To me, seems like getting nice guildies is mandatory for a fun end game. This situation of “reject the off-the-meta build” breaks entirely one of the major pillar of tos: building whatever suits you.
Read somewhere on reddit that they have plans on implementing another ways of lvl up besides the grindish one, like pvp quests rewarding cards and so on. Where there’s will, there’s a way…

Good read. No baseless whining. just pure experience on what is to come for newer players

The actual problem when you have a non meta char is not the fact that it is not meta.
It’s the fact that you will no matter how good you play underperform compared to meta class.
Either you will do twice as less damage, or give less utility then the meta class.
I mean they are meta because they are optimal.
In the end you will just feel like crap because you realistically realize at some point that you are single handedly setting your team back. And good lord that is why I stopped playing.

XD for a sec i thought it was the adventrues of one start swordsman…

Nice write up XD
