I agree that people should be encouraged to team up. So many modern MMO’s try to cater to the solo crowd that it might as well not even be a multiplayer game during most of the gameplay, which is quite foolish. Perhaps an alternative would be to add some optional bosses/quests that are clearly targeted/labeled as a “group” boss. These special bosses could be far more difficult, but also have far greater rewards.
Very good proposal. I love team plays (since I’m a priest).
I mean it’s for me if you wanna pick your solo dps build and be the lone wolf/kirito of the situation.
I believe solo players should have the opportunity to enjoy the game as much as everybody else, but as everybody seems to agree here the Team Play in an MMO is ESSENTIAL and should be more then encouraged.
that’s what makes me spend moeny on mmos actually, if I know i’m not only investing time and money not only in a fictitious character, but also in a group of friends, I’ll be more then willing to spend a few extra bucks on the game.
Some classes seem to reach a higher potential much faster than other classes. I do believe that depending on your class choices, this can have a major impact on the difficulty of main story boss fights and IMC has taken this in to account.
For example, I have a Level 32 Highlander that has killed up through Capria in 3-4 Cartar Stroke attacks. These boss fights are done in 40 seconds with no threat to myself. I have a Level 34 Krivis that has killed up through Capria and every boss is dead in 3-4 Zaibas, 1-2 Cure, 2 Heal. These bosses are dead in 75 seconds with minimal threat to myself, especially considering healing potential.
In contrast, I have a Level 20 Cryomancer that took 6 minutes to kill the boss in Mines 1F. The lightning totem takes a large number of hits to break, so none of the Wizard abilities help in breaking it faster. Overall damage is significantly lower with a higher cost in SP to use abilities that still don’t compare in damage output.
Now, I’ll agree that the difficulty of the bosses have not been high, but rather it was tedium as I had to slowly work down all those hitpoints, but supposing that the boss HP was reduced, it would have been dead in one Cartar Stroke. I believe that the bosses are tuned somewhat appropriately so that everyone doing the story should be able to clear the boss fights.
Maybe a suitable solution would be to increase the difficulty of BOSS fights only when the party has entered the battle? Some kind of multiplier which would be calculated based on party players’ number which would increase statistics of a given BOSS would be nice.
I think IMC could learn a thing or two from FFXIV, where every class, EVERY class is never overpower each other. Where most of the quest needs team plays, which means tank, healer, dps. Nobody survives SOLO against bosses. However I’d understand not everyone is ‘friendly’ to do things with other people, but atleast the boss fight / raid needs to be party play. Seriously. Team plays just could bring all those solo stuck up people back down to earth.
Gud inglish much very.
I think its good the way it is.
The boss scales with party members, so its fine.
I think the bosses I’ve seen are very good. I play alone, the first I killed easily, but it’s increasingly difficult (the mage in the mine, ush). But with party it’s easier yes.
It could be done as follows: When in party, attributes boss are slightly increased (damage, hp, etc.). It will not make it harder, but a little more… painful, and possible to play solo or not. If already don’t be…
It’s very helpful to team up especially if you wanna all level up faster. But there are times when I wanna go solo because of the pacing.
Some people want to level up real fast, some people are just chill and want to take it slow. So if you can’t find the right party for you, you can just play solo and I’m happy that I can do that in ToS.
And there’s the lag issue too, I feel like I’m bringing everyone else down when I’m casting at the wrong place.
Nice, if you’re playing at Zemyna, come with me, I’m Hoplite, and trying to play more and more in party
Team play is very awesome
TOo bad I’m in Gabija
I don’t think the bosses at moment are hard at all…
The bosses at moment are more like a “patience test” but not hard.
If it could be hard and not a patience test it would be great.
But for that the AI of them needs a HUGE IMPROVE.
I fought bosses naked and bare-handed just because to get some challenge out of them.
If anyone is having any sort of troubles with bosses - they should probably go back to playing Hello Kitty or RO.
When i post i was on level 30~50
Now i’m in 116, and the bosses don’t be hard, just cause a huge damage, but is easy to avoid their attacks
I can solo with no problems using potions, and i’m a Swordman Class, specifically Cataphract and have 12600 HP, for me is easy. But for an mage, with 3000 HP, i think is very hard.
Well, just go play in Coop
This isn’t a kindergarten…Playing alone or in a team should be a choice, not a necessity it’s a game after all, made for your fun. Some days you may want to socialize, others not. Having the possibility of leveling on your own and getting the same benefits as the team players is really important to me. MMO’s are a place where I unwind after a stressful day of constant forced interaction at work. The least I need is to be forced to interact in here as well. There is already an option of creating a party, broadcasting it, looking for other people’s parties. Like you said “learn” to socialize, if you want to socialize it should be up to you to message someone, to look for fellow players willing to join you. For me personally part of the fun of MMO’s is the ability to compete, to interact majority of the time after the leveling, by selling items, buying items, dueling, playing the card game, or just chatting. Leveling in a party can be as fun as much as a detriment to your leveling. There are all kinds of players there, and with the system in this game if one player goes and unlocks some boss, all are teleported to him and forced to fight it, regardless of whatever they were doing before. Anyway sorry for the rant, you touched a soft spot. All I can say is if this game forces team-play I’m out for sure, and I think many people would be too they may not even reply to this post due to their unwillingness to come out of their shell.
Oh and another general point, is if you’re having trouble creating a party, I can only assume it’s because people don’t want to join, by asking the game to “encourage” people to party, you guys are literally forcing those that are unwilling in the first place. Makes me think of a kid going to his Mom “Johnny won’t play with me” and then the Mom just yells at Johnny “Johnny be nice! You have to play with others!!!” so the poor Johnny is forced to interact against his will.
Your name is Johnny ?
Man, i said, encourage, and don’t forcing. I think you don’t understand very well
No you’re talking to a chick here, but you can consider me as Johnny. I wrote it in general reply, because it was kind of meant for everybody not just aimed at you. The thing is the way to encourage someone to do something is to make that more desirable in comparison to other stuff. Often it is done by increasing the benefits and the rewards of the encouraged thing, or by making the other path more difficult. In my opinion there are actually plenty of MMO’s that cater to that, many if not in the beginning, then at least towards the end encourage socialization. While I have no objection whatsoever for people partying and having a blast together, I find myself often lacking great items or unable to complete certain quests or achievements without socializing. From what I understand, unless I party a certain amount of times, I can’t even change my hair to a certain color in ToS. I just think solo playing is not as easy and it sort of sucks how others get so much benefits because they are more extroverted. I’d like to have an equal opportunity to beat the same boss or get the same loot as the rest of players, without having to rely on fellow players. That being said, I noticed someone mentioned the increase of the boss proportional to the members of the party, that sound pretty cool. Because otherwise, people that want to party may still beat that same boss in seconds even after the difficulty increase depending on how good are the members, their levels, and what classes they are, but solo-players often get the short stick of the game, they have a lot less options already.
I respect everyone’s idealism and interpretation about the game, I the only problem I see here is not the game itself but the MENTALITY of people playing the game.
You stop play game when you play in Dungeon ? You try solo and dungeon ? I think the answer is not, because mobs are so strong…
This require a team play, and you are still playing the game, this is Encourage Coop Play.
