Swordman's Tips!

Hello everyone, I’ve made this topic to everyone discuss about their build and ask their doubts for the TOS comunity! ( have everyone in the same place is better than everyone spread, like that we can have more interaction and tips.)

The main objective of this topic is help the new players (like me ).

Starting with my doubts:

1- Wich is better to use: Equipment that increase the stats (STR,CON,DEX) or thoose who increase only certain atributes, like Physical Protection, evasion or magic defense?

2- is useless for a swordsman spend points in SPR?

3- Wich problems may a I suffer with this char?

Swordsman -> Highlander -> Barbarian C2 lvl:85

Stats Builds (trying to make an All-round build, something like STR 3 : CON 2 : DEX 2)

(I’ve made some mess with my STR, but I’m fixing it)

4- About classes

Seems good or theese are better?

everything’s important, depending on the situation, but you seem to have picked a path going to doppel so

Crit Rate, Physical Attack, Critical Attack / STR/DEX

2- is useless for a swordsman spend points in SPR?

yes, for now

3- Wich problems may a I suffer with this char?

1 - death due to your own skill, DOV (if you chose doppel)
2 - may require to be party oriented
3 - expensive character
4 - getting knocked all over after Pain Barrier is over

Stats Builds (trying to make an All-round build, something like STR 3 : CON 2 : DEX 2)

go with full dex for now, you will need all that crit rate

Equipement:

Normal Great sword (the white one) can bring you far for a beginner weapon, then aim for a Magi 2h Sword or Vienie twin blade later on. Hogma if that’s what you are using is okay though

Nulis is good but not for newbies

Swordsman -> Highlander -> Barbarian C3 -> Doppelsoldner C3

IMO corsair isn’t a good mix for that build unless you plan to pvp

ok, but if I have to choose betwen an equip with low defense, or low evasion but it raises my CON and another that had a better evasion/defense, wich one is should I pick ?

Now, don’t let the reduction of defense discourage you. Losing 50% of your defense does not mean that you will receive 50% extra damage. Because of how defense works in this game, if something hits you 1,500 damage normally, but Deeds of Valor lowers your defense by 150, then that hit will deal 1,650 damage instead. That is only a 10% increased value over the original number, but you get to deal A LOT more damage now and will kill that enemy faster.

I heard that DEX fall of later cuz most enemys uses magical atacks, but folowing your advice

STR 3 - CON 1-DEX 2

seems better? ( I’m afraid in put too much DEX and have a low HP)

IMO corsair isn’t a good mix for that build unless you plan to pvp

I’m focusing in Joly Roger, that’s why I put Corsair in my build plan, isn’t worth? even if I get Hexen Dropper?

Defense doesn’t work 1:1.

Losing 1000 defense may mean taking 10000 more damage, check out damage calculation somewhere on the forum

Hexen doesn’t work with 2H swords, doppel focuses on that, if you want corsair based class, shinobi/fencer/dragoon are better

dex is for crit rate, not evasion, treat evasion as a bonus

you’re already on HL>Barb2 right?

if you really really insist on corsair, you should try other classes.
the top 4 doppel builds are~

HL(or sword2) > Barb 3 > Doppel
Sword 3 > HL > Barb > Doppel
HL3 > Barb > Doppel
HL2 > Barb2 > Doppel

putting corsair is fine if it’s pvp focused, but you’ll lose a core class. Something around Sword2>HL>Barb>Corsair>Doppel3 maybe for pvp alternative to sword 3

2- What is the minimum value of DEX that you recomend for a doppelsoldner?

this is my new doppel, I had a higher level one but deleted it due to patch/changes and made it better

after getting 600 or more crit rate, you can invest on str/con or more dex
con is not a good idea if you are going to use 315 Orange 2H Sword

str meanwhile isn’t really optimal due to weapon transcendence, OP gems, headgear enchants and high base damage skills.

I think I’m lost since I’ve spend points in CON and much more in STR.

HL(or sword2) > Barb 3 > Doppel
Sword 3 > HL > Barb > Doppel
HL3 > Barb > Doppel
HL2 > Barb2 > Doppel

These 4 builds also spend the most of their points in DEX?

It’s not about corsair, I’m would like to know if there is another class that would fit better in my build, since I’ve spent points that a doppel won’t need .

this is pretty much for all classes on swordsman tree

about con, you only have to worry about it if you are planning to use this

if you’re not using it anyway you should be fine.

I’m planning to use it due to the humongous critical attack stat and 3 slots to put 3 high level yellow gems, then you add in highlander’s 2h passive attribute

And about a tank char, what do you recomend (build, classes)?

Pelt 2 > Rodelero 3 > Shinobi > Murmillo
Pelt 1 > Hop 1 > Rodelero 3 > Shinobi > Murmillo

No, Shinobi is a burst dps class that happens go to well with the pelt 2 rod 3 build to fill in the lack of dps that a tank would otherwise have, allowing the tank to strip aggro from high dps classes when needed.

In this game you need to do damage to draw aggro, swash buckling alone doesn’t cut it anymore at high levels.

On some characters I have it at 0, on some it’s 50.

I rarely use it now anyway, blame buff slots

Well, agree, it will be worth it if one day they decide to make an attribute for crit rate. As u can see, guardian is the defensive opposite of gungho, and it has an attribute carrying dex defense. Gungho shud carry dex offense like its brother.

1- Frenzy or war cry?

2- Shoudl I do all hte quest in game? (I’ve reach lvl 126 and the quest stand arround lvl 110)

Why not both? buffs are barb’s highlights

if you don’t have enough skill points leave seism at 1 or lower cleave

too late now, cleve and seism are now at lvl 10, but I have yet some points to spend, wich lvl should I lvl up them?

warcry is more important, rest goes to frenzy.
