[Suggestion] Brave the seas

Do you guys think ToS is needing some sea stuff?

We have corsairs, why not have ships and navigation through continents?

It would be a lot of new stuff, and probably take a lot of time to be done, but sounds like a good “DLC”/episode/patch/ w/e

Then corsairs (c3 maybe) would have the attribute to create pirate guilds

Or even maybe a Pirate class, like a version of chaplain to corsairs

But those class related stuffs aren’t my main intention with this topic

Just imagine customizing your own ships, maybe with a system similar to the class system, but with parts, you can choose between those “X” options when you level your boat

Or maybe just buying part and simply adding it to your boat like another money sink

Then there would quests like “escort this boat” or “travel these goods”, or even sea bosses, there are a lot of possibilities

thematically and immersion wise this sounds good and some games used to do this old school transportation but looking at the goddess statues and quest warps it seems as though ToS wants to blend a old gaming style with modern mmo conveniences. So it seems unlikely

Archeage has both, and it worked well

Even if you teleport, you miss the sea experiente, plus you can only teleport to a place where you were before, in ToS

I would love to see something like this sometime…but we have enough time for this. It’s not something that should be already in the game fortunately.

This would also fit to my Fisher profession suggestion… because advanced fishers should be able to fish on the sea.

We never know if they decide to add new content like new continent or an island later on, so its not really that an impossible thing to happen imo.

I’m thinking it would be fitting for an instanced Raid or dungeon that takes place in a ship being swarmed by monsters, probably a boss and a constant influx of adds, with a sea landscape. Probably in stages like:

Trip to Scary Island

  1. Your party is sailing in a ship to a small island, and is Swarmed by monsters.
  2. Your party arrives on the island, and you find something there (A small temple, from which you gotta retrieve something or rescue somebody).
  3. Your party is sailing back, when a flying boss monster attacks your ship along with hordes of smaller monsters, this creates a great set up for the “sea adventure”, and jolly roger really benefits from having a corsair because of the constant influx of mobs to keep the streak going.

So, yeah, it would be awesome. But I think of this as a future content addition, I find the actual game release to have priority.

I’m not into that sailing idea, the only game i’ve played had a messy sailing system (but the game itself was messy, so i guess i can’t use it as a reference) and even if we had it wouldn’t be a big thing. However it would be really cool if Corsairs would be able to build a ship-car (or flying ship) similiar to Sorcerer and their summons, once you mount the ship you’ll get unique skills that you can use like fire cannon balls waves at both sides of the ship or a bigger one in the front, also it would be pretty cool if you could give your party members a ride.

I would put the first item as a normal ship you pay a ticket or rent at the port, and during the trip we get attacked by some sort of aquatic creatures, after battling to reach the island, we have to fight our way to the objective, which can be random as you suggested, and on the trip back when we think we are fine, a boss come to attack, some sort of Kraken or even a flying boss too, that is, it may or may not happen, and if you kill the boss you can get a card, talt, some gear or a mount skin or costume, if you dont have the fight you dont get that, but you can have the luck on the next trip, and that would be a weekly event, that way it give something to look for.

It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to see something like the airships from the original RO.

Something more complete like the sailing component of archeage is probably beyond the scope of TOS though.

This sounds like a magnificent idea to add to the game even if it will be added much later before the core things. This would definitely spice up the experience later :+1:

I like the idea!!

Beautiful sirens singing,…

while you got mesmerized,…

caught you off guard,…

drowns you…

and eats you until you turn to bones… :skull:

Anyone? ;(

so you want ships in tos, what’s next ? trains too ?

I don’t understand some people, when the game lack content they complain, when they add content they complain, when someone give an idea of content they complain.
Honesty, if you don’t like the ideas or new content just stay on MP games, not MMO, you can choose if you want or no new content by buying or not.

Your idea reminds me of the traditional JRPGs where you get a ship and an airship to travel across the world map.

I like the idea.

However, seeing this would be a huge content, it would take some time to actualize it.

But still, I will forward this to our Dev team.

I can’t even begin to imagine how this could be implemented, seems like it would be relatively dull without lots of micro islands and events. Some “underwater areas” that affect jumping/moving physics slightly would probably be the easiest to implement, or maybe even ships that behave like the trams from Srautus Gorge but controlled by someone.

If nothing else this seems like something that would make a great guild level silver sink.

The OP suggestion can be hard to implement, but did you saw @Snivs suggestion as content?

I suggested some modifications to his original to make it more like an week event, which i think it would give some more attraction to it.

Hmmm… It does seem like a dungeon with a ship theme, right?

Fending off waves of enemies on a very tight space?

Also, having a Kraken would be cool. We get to say "“Release the Kraken!” when it appears.

I will forward this to our Dev team
