Well… let me preface this by saying that: Gaming is a luxury, not a privilege.
Even with that said though something is seriously wrong with how they’re communicating (or not at all) with the community. For what is supposed to be an “international” server it might be worth scaling the cost based on the country’s cost of living - unless they stand to lose lots of revenue.
It probably would’ve been better if they had communicated how they were planning to monetize the game earlier and said that the game will be early access “buy-to-play” than dangling “open beta coming soon” on the homepage.
I still plan on buying the “founder’s pack” but the lack of communication and not accounting for purchasing power in different countries made me take a second look at whether I want to encourage this kind of behavior (voting with your wallet).
The problem with casuals as well is they argue that 3 months headstart is nothing. I just can’t understand how casuals keeps forcing their ideals to every single player. They need to realize that their fun is different from competetive players’ fun.
Not a race? sure for now, then IMC allows server transfer? Would you allow yourself to play in a server where majority of people have Lv280 and full equips from field boss within that 3 months time period? Besides that 3 months is absurd.
You really cant see it for now that’s for sure and aside from that it shows signs of P2W and more future cash grab schemes from IMC which people truly hate not to mention the game isn’t polish nor complete.
I don’t personally know about this but I read on another thread that server transfers will not be possible. It will also serve no interest to imc to be honest.
I’m not sure about IMC’s habits. I didn’t play their past game like granado espada. I wouldn’t like P2W at all if anything. Early Access isn’t exactly P2W though. Especially when this game has no “Win” condition cause it hasn’t even got an end game made yet.
$50 is a lot after conversion to other currencies. Its definitely out of reach for any young people who are not working yet (student, college eve uni perhaps).
I don’t know if you can call this a bait and switch since nothing has been paid to them so far and they have not offered anything to any player yet, besides 2 CBT which they did deliver.
The way the announcement was handled wasn’t pretty, I agree.
Even me, I really don’t know but based on how IMC behaves it is literary proving that it’s POSSIBLE! Look on how SOON is from their POV.
Edit: Not to mention merging servers just like @ryula2 said, thanks for reminding me that.
It didn’t say its P2W, it only show signs
not to mention the game isn’t polish nor complete.
Believe me I can also pay $50 but with the condition of the game, I’ll think twice before paying.
Its like ordering a burger, would you like to eat a half cooked burger w/o add-ons for $50 or a burger with complete add-ons with ketchup and mustard not to mention drinks for the same price?
PS: I’ve used the same idea about the burger thingy on the other thread you’ve replied xD
Even if they need money, or time, or both, they could just do founder packs, with rollback at the end.
I wouldn’t mind if that was the case, but if they keep the server as it is, I doubt any people will keep joining that one when in release they’ll add new fresh servers with their new level cap.
They’ll probably merge them, which might cause disparities between players.
But well, it’s 3 months, things might get improved, customized, better suited for this region’s playerbase… A lot can happen in 3 months, but i remember reading “Open Beta Coming Soon”.
I agree, I wouldn’t pay it for the current state of the game. But I will pay for it so they can complete it.
At this point I think they are really short on cash. No sane business will piss their player base off just for a few bucks, unless that few bucks is between publishing or selling it off to another company.
They could but this was the choice IMC executive decided in the end. For better or worse, its not for us player base to judge.
I don’t know about this, but I hope they won’t merge / transfer server.
Yea that really ticked a lot of people off. Most were expecting a free unrestricted OBT when that announcement was made, bad move by IMC. Could be a miscommunication or over eagerness of the forum team.
inst the price the problem. but the way !!! 3month ??? sersly !!! u can be max lvl …paid to be alone ?? NO THANKS.
i dont believe them … that a greedy company.
i m playing on ktos and this game isnt finish !!!
I was a founder in Archeage and never more i will be scammed like they did !!!This company seem more fishy than trion …
Stop right there, there are things that you need to know, not everything you are complaining for is alright.
Of course not, it’s still on beta with a cap of 280 levels, when on release they’ll have it around level 600.
You can’t be “scammed” if you don’t pay, the best you can do about that is to wait a little bit to see some reviews before buying. The paid CBT could be alright and you could pay for the 2 months head-start, who knows.
Still, “Head-start” is not the right word when they might just add new servers on release.
I doubt anyone will want to freshly start on a server that already has people maxed out, everyone will get into the new servers, and the people who paid for the founder server, later will realise that the actual competition is on the new ones.
That could mean that your money and your grind could be wasted, and your server, could be nearly deserted.
Those people would have to start again, or transfer their stuff.
If transfer happens, there could be disparities. I don’t know, things might work for good or bad, and there are infinite solutions, like transfering without the level but with money, or cash.
So yeah, we’ll have to wait one or two months to see if this founder thing is worth it (player-minded).
But if you pay to help, as a supporter, that’s just alright!
At first I was very annoyed by this “model” they adopted. But then I thought: “As a casual player, do I really mind if people get a headstart?”
The answer is no, I don’t. It just means early level areas will be less crowded, making the leveling process easier. Also, it means a greater amount of equips being sold in the auction house, lower prices for low level things, more builds tested…
I don’t know, but right now I don’t mind people playing before me. But once again, I don’t intend to go super crazy over rushing content and being the first to discover stuff anyway, so to each their own.
No. Early leveling will be harder since it is quest based, and you need to do dungeons along the way to advance. Since there will be a very low population, it will be VERY hard to get a party to do so.
