So is there "the" best Swordsman DPS build?

Coming back after a few months of break I pretty much realised that my S1/Pelt1/High3/Dop3 seems pretty outdated, “trash” and “■■■■”, especially since it’s full STR …

Even though I still got my stat reset potion and I got plenty of TP for skill reset potions I guess I’m stuck without Barb right now which seems to be “must have” all of a sudden.

So I was wondering what the perfect solo Swordsman build would be in case I really drop my current Dopp and start over new. Since I don’t wanna start over and over and over and over and over again I wanna nail it right away and therefore I’d appreciate every help in terms of builds / stats / gear n stuff to make a viable R8 swordsman for DPSing.

The best dps classes are fencer and dopple but as for what leads up to them i couldnt tell you as my knowledge in swordsman is lacking.

fencer = best single target dps
doppel = best aoe dps
hoplite 3 dragoon c2 = has both great aoe and great single target dps
hoplite’s my favorite, all are good.

no build is perfect, fencer has bad aoe, doppel is very vulnerable, and for hoplites pierce damage is weak against cloth. (very weak)
imo these builds are too different to be compared.
What do you want out of your swordsman? single target dps? (world bosser essentially)? aoe dps? farming class? you haven’t given us enough info to determine i would say a hoplite goon or a barb doppel are the best you can’t really go wrong with those since both got good aoe dps and pve dps.

Currently in an overall Goons hold uncontested power in short bursts followed by Dopps, while Fencers require to spec-up on crit stat thru gear/gems to maximize their Epee Garde’s potential, Murmillos are on a tricky spot now since little test has been done due to bugs crashing the game when wearing it’s helmet.

This might be biased on my side since I play fencer but the fact that they have 2 0cd skill can put their damage over time in a higher position against other melee in prolonged fight.


All will be subjected to IMC treatment(breaking), no one is safe.

I think that Rodel3/shinobi/Murmido is best burst with R8 patch

Guess i’d take both the Fencer and the Doppel then…doesn’t hurt to have one of each right? And the other classes aren’t too interesting for me to begin with.

So what would be the best build for both Fencer and Doppel in the game right now? What equip to go for? Stuff like that? Are there any guides out there, that just explain the builds in detail?

i hope you mean both separately and not both of the same build.
for doppel i’d do high 1 barb 3 doppel
for fencer i’d do peltasa c1 barb c3 fencer. (yes barb is kinda good for both)

No, no, seperately. I’m gonna start 2 new chars later. One going to be the Doppel, the other going to be the Fencer.

Hmm but against cloth bosses, the capability of burst a doppel can unleash is tremendouly stupid. And it becomes even more retarded if a chronomancer is present.

that’s true, doppel’s dps is great single target too.
cloth is where fencers and hoplites struggle

I went with the Hop2Cor2 variant because Corsair looked interesting, will I still be able to hit Dragoon’s damage cap without DoV? kinda worried about late game DPS, hope i’m not gimped vs WB.
