RO STORIES and TALES

MY RO STORY

-started playing ro1 pre renewal briefly when my younger brother played it.
-he quit but i still played for 5 years on renewal.
-got my very first mvp card in 2013
-sold that for more mvp cards.
-rebought the same mvp card and sold it for real money (Hi, free money~)
-an unaware GM unintentionally gave me free god items I normally shouldn’t have.
-That was the best wtf, in your face moment of my RO life.
-experimented with wpe pro, grf editing, no delay hacks on a dummy account and got it banned.
-proceeded to fill 21 character slots in my main account.
-religiously attended WoE twice a week.
-farmed the ■■■■ out of end game content until it was time to quit.

THE END

Ok, time to my wall of text/story of ro (sorry for the misspeling and stuff, i’m not a native english speaker so, if you can’t stand it, just don’t read it ;D)

I was about 16~17 years old when i started playing ro on a private server. My sister’s girlfriend had played on the IRO’s OBT so she knew the game and introduced us (my two older brothers and me) to it. My first job was a magician. I played until i got a sage. When that server closed up, i played with my middle brother on many many private servers, gathering friends here and there.

Then a wild “RO hispano” appeared. One of those friends that i met on some random private server helped me and my bro getting us CBT access. I played there with a Blacksmith until it closed (my 3 slotted boned chain T-T) Then i stop playing until some of my old RO Hispano friends invited me to IRO’s Valkyrie server. In the beggining i just played with a borrowed char but eventually i made an assassin (who ended up being GX), but after renewal and some dramas on the hispano guilds, i ended up leaving ro again. It’s not that i didn’t liked it but with the turn in quests and the mvp items, and the god like items… it’s just too broke right now

I really reeeeally had fun playing, exploring, being laggy and even dying. Evenings of coffee and laughts with my bro and some internet friends (who became real life friends, most of them)… I have like a thousand stories to tell but i’m not sure if you want to read them at all so that’s it

I could tell the story, but if a picture’s worth a thousand words, then videos are probably worth a couple more:

PART 1

PART 2

Never forget.

This is a story i would never forget, quite long though:

I was once in payon dungeon killing Sohee for that sweet sweet exp, until a female priest approached me and asked if i could help her find a Sohee card. At first i though, why should i help her? and even if i found it i could sell it for 2mil (at the time). I partied with her and thought i’m getting free buffs/whats the chances of finding a Sohee card anyways. We partied for 2 hours without finding anything but black hair and fabric from the giant whispers, she teleported back to payon and i stuck around for another 20 minutes.

To my surprise and excitement a Sohee card actually dropped! First thing that came to my head was, i just made 2 Million Zeny (great amount of money at the time, early iRO). Then i thought of that girl that had buffed me for two hours and literally gave it her all to try and find one since she had no one else that could help her. I checked my party and saw that she had left, so i went back to my chat to find her name so i could private message her, she was offline.

So i went to payon and waited and waited, hours went passed and she was still offline and nowhere to be seen. I jumped on a day later and messaged her instantly, she was online! She was joining a guild since she was a priest and priest were wanted by pretty much everyone (The guilds name was Empire which was a very powerful WOE guild at the time). I met up with her South Pontera and saw that she had joined the guild Empire and was not so alone anymore since she was surrounded by team members. I traded her anyways and surprised her with the Sohee card, she could not believe it, i remember her being extremely happy and very greatfull. We chatted for weeks after that and quickly became great friends. She was becoming very powerful very quickly with the help of her new guild. I was just a knight that didn’t know anyone and tried my very hardest to improve myself whenever possible. We had stopped talking for a long while and time passed very quickly, a year went passed.

I was a lot stronger, around level 75-80 if i remember correctly and had better equipment and an okay guild. One day i was contacted by a priest that asked if i remembered her (this was the priest that i helped out more than a year ago but i had completely forgotten about it since many things had happened in my life since then) I replied no and she reminded me of the Sohee card day.

She met up with me in the place we had met a year ago, South Pontera and to my surprise she was a level 99 Priest. She had told me that she left Empire to start a new guild with another friend called Maelstrom and wanted to give me an invite to join as one of the founders well as some very amazing +7 gear. I accepted her invite and became very good friends with her as well as the rest of the guild. We quickly became one of the most successful WOE guilds and conquered for a long while on iRO. To think it all started with a Sohee Card.

Anyone know the origin of the “flywing” and “butterfly wing”?

Back in beta there was a glitch when you’d enter a map or sometimes even log in you would end up on location 1,1 in the corner of the map, so instead of fixing the glitch they created the flywing and butterfly wing items so you could get out of the area.

speaking of the old days, who remembers this?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBThF9rL_NI

I remember all the drama… on my first time playing …like when i joined my first guild… a nice HWizzard guy invite me to his guild… 5 minutes later his ingame girlfriend pm me asking me to join her to make a cup de etat against him to stole the guild from him…i was like WTF … very confussed… i dint have time to warning him… so he lost everything and quit… since then i allways prefered soloing in RO and games in general… XD.

This story goes waaaaay back, sometime late 2004~ish, rather early in the official EU servers life.

I was in the PvP room with my bard (Cyroth), the second batch of the 2nd classes was just released on euRO and I was among the first bards. A friend and his perma-novice (Talonos), supernovice were just released on kRO and have not hit the western servers yet, was with me.

We were sitting around with some other players from various other guilds, idly chatting, engaging in duels and such stuff when one of the other high levels, I think it was one of the the sages from Gruppe8, complained that he was bored.
He then ran around and challenged various people to go and kill “that puny novice”, and if they manage to do it he’ll give them a few thousand zeny.
The catch was that Talo was already around level 70/10 at this point, on a server where the average Joe was still first class or very early second class, and Talo was already wearing pretty much what passed as endgame-equipment (he could easiely dodge my bard with over 100 dex when buffed, now imagine what he did to the average early jobchanged level 55/20 knight).
After the fifth or so challenger Talo started to punch his victims to death, after 5 more the sage stopped looking for new challengers.
He shouted something like “YOU ARE ALL INCOMPETENT, WATCH ME HOW IT IS DONE” and prompty nuked Talo with spells, then he said something like “See, I’m the only one who can own this novice”. Everyone around had a great laugh about it and to this day “I’m the only one who can own this x” is a running gag amongst my friends.

Later there was also a time when I became pretty much a part of the PvP rooms furniture, and everyone stopped calling me by name, instead refering to me as “Jukebox”.
“Hey jukebox, Iduns Apple”, including percussive maintenance (punchings) when I didn’t produce the song in question fast enough
It even spread over to my guild, who started doing the same thing for a while (minus the punching).
Such sadness.

My best memory of RO: My first attempt at making a Wizard.

I was still fairly noob when I attempted to make my first Wizard. I had talked to a few other players and had learned that Firewall+Firebolt on Earth type mobs was the best way to level. So, I maxed Firewall, Firebolt, SP Recovery (I was poor and couldn’t afford SP Pots), I cannot recall where I put the rest of my points - but I am sure they were not used effectively.

As soon as I reached Job Level 40 Mage I went off to do the Wizard job change quest. I was REALLY excited to finally be making a Wizard and figured the job change quest would be the standard “collect X items”. Boy was I wrong. I got teleported into a room with a bunch of Water property mobs and given 3 minutes to kill them. Keep in mind that I had decided I only needed Fire property skills for levelling, so I panicked. After MANY failed attempts I FINALLY managed to kill these Water property mobs :grinning:, I felt like the king of the world. Until I got warped into the next room… WHY DID THERE HAVE TO BE MORE ROOMS?

The next room was a group of Earth property mobs, I had no problem with those. But after the Earth room, came Fire. And these weren’t your easy-peasy Fire mobs either. These were fast-moving, aggressive, Fire mobs that (as a nooby Mage) could 1 or 2-shot me. …AND on top of that, Fire property mobs could run through Firewall - my only source of CC!

I spent hours in that Fire room before I finally just decided to become a Sage instead.

RO is where I found my love of 10 almost 11 years. One day he linked me to a RO private server and asked me to download and play with him. I was so excited because this was the first game we ever played together and fell in love with the sprites instantly, this game was just too darn cute and the music was amazing, never played a game like it before. So one day we were leveling outside the Ayothaya dungeon, we were taking a break and planning on having a RO wedding. It was all jokes and silliness. (We were really close friends and I’ve actually never seen an MMO wedding before). So I jokingly said I love you just for jokes and he said it back but was all serious about it. “I really mean it, I love you.” It was too cute and just plain cheesy, xD I fell in love. Of course I have countless of other stories, I could be here for ever talking about it. But this one was my most thought of. Also another reason why RO holds a special place in my heart <3

I remember a few tales. My first server was when I was around 15-ish, that was like almost 10 years ago. It was called Ragnarok Revolution. That was one of my favorite servers, and the custom hidden map was a wonderful hang out spot. I remember roleplaying a lot on there and just having a great time, each day was something new, and I was the type that hung out with the community other than trying to hit level cap. (Super lazy. xD) But after some time, the server died down and I moved on.

From there, I server hopped several times, some of the more notable, a server my friend made(Can’t recall the name at all.) But on that server, I was a pretty OP alchemist with a really pretty rainbow-like dragon aura around me. It was amazing~ My friends server wasn’t really all that popular, and so after some time, he moved on and made a new server. I followed him there and that’s where I got my first ever MvP card, first time killing it. It was a high rate server but the card drops kept the same. I got a Tao Gunka card in my first attempt with a .01% drop rate on my LK, that was pretty crazy. xD I remember how awe shocked I was when it happened. I mean, the probability was incredibly low and this was my first time killing him ever.

Another server that I was on for a time was TalonRO, I actually managed to level cap a High Priest on there, her name was Resuki. I had a blast on that server and was a pretty strong priest on there for a while.

(P.S. I’m a huge role-player and I plan on RPing on ToS as well if I’m able to find some people interested in it.)

-nostalgia overload-

I only played in the official Philippine server from 2005-2007. I’m using FS char all the time. I’ll make a list for easier reading

  • messed up build at first, but i got better lol
  • got friggin hacked 3 times. 2/3 were pretty sure it’s out of spite because…
  • i was always aggre in pvp back then with my ex,who was using a monk and a h.wiz back then (lol) we would wipe all pvp levels that we can, BUT I’M A GOOD GIRL NOW (lol)
  • our guild represented our server in the Ragnarok Phil Championships 2006. The next year, our guild (under a new name formed through alliance) represented Philippines for Ragnarok World Championships (proud guildie.lol)

This is just round 1, i think rounds 2-3 is also on youtube haha.

I remember like 90% of our guild were gathered in one pc rental shop and we’re watching it all live (yes the players were all there too) i would miss those bonding times.

…but hey, I’m definitely looking forward to ToS and having fun
