Wouldn’t it leave your damage pitiful though?
I was soloing bosses just fine as an archer/quarrel shooter. But it is incredibly boring so I restarted my character for a different class.
Your low normal attack damage would theoretically be made up with by having more consistent crits.
Unless you were talking about the pure strength build, which should theoretically provide consistently good damage all the way up.
Why not try it and see?
I guess.
After a couple of item and stat upgrades, the bosses go down rather quickly.
Looking forward to doing my first dungeon.
First thing I have done is learn swap change weapon attribute. There’s a considerable difference between using a bow on some mobs or a crossbow. I recommend to try it first without having the attribute on each mob and you’ll see a big difference.

At level 10 this was difficult to put into practice.
I’ve been having this problem even at the low level bosses designed to be soloed. If the boss was even one level above me I was doing at most 2 points of damage per hit and it would have taken an hour to take him down. I thought it was weird tutorial bosses required grinding before they could be fought.
Funny how people watching the game have all been screaming about how easy bosses are and how they need to be more difficult.
Now people are actually playing the game and begging for boss nerfs.
Funny how that role change changes opinions so quickly.
Bosses aren’t hard though. They’re slow, dumb, ponderous sponges with defence stats way too high. If you do 100 on a mob the boss summons, you’ll likely only do around 30 on the boss itself. It’s really irritating how artificially difficult the bosses are.
As you level up more of your damage starts coming from your weapon, your weapon enhancements, your weapon gems and hopefully some self buffs which makes you less dependent on strength.
I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure strength:physical attack is a 1:1 ratio. So if you took your first 100 points and went 50-50 compared to 66:33 you’d only be losing 16 damage. 16 damage is pretty minimal by the time you have 100 stat points to play with.
I think it’s more than 1 to 1, you can see bigger increases per point of strength. And I guess once you calculate multipliers in, you can actually get quite a lot out of it.
I think I’ll just put a couple of points into dex whenever I start missing.
so instead of difficult, its just boring & tedious? are they just padding the bosses with super hp/armor? that’s so lame ~_~
Thats not necessarily a problem. With two or three buddies, bosses become considerably faster to take down, especially if you can get different roles to specialize.
It was even fun spending half my day shooting bosses. Or maybe I’m a masochist?
As for the strength to dex problem, I went Ranger for Critical Shot, which lets me be slightly less reliant on dex to land crits ^^
how long/how many times can u spam critical shot ?_?
great hes gone…i bet its not viable due to mp costs u can only spam it a few times
Yes to this. I was very surprised when on one boss my bow (which has more atk than my crossbow) was doing 40s and my crossbow did 90s. I do know that both are “Stab” type, so I’m not sure what accounts for the bonus damage since my bow generally hits harder everywhere else.
I got a swordsman to lvl 25 easliy, then tried to make a archer and it was really difficult to handle the boss fights.
Maybe IMC games can try to include a matchmaking system where you automatically can find party member within ur level range
Imo bosses are fairly simple because they have slow animations. I was able to solo every boss on my archer and most of the time I was underleveled (near the end of the beta I killed a level 47 boss at level 41). After level 20 things start to get slower unless you have a build that focuses on single target damage, which I did not. I went mostly dex with a 4:1 dex to strength build because I thought str was a 1:1 ratio for physical attack. Although Mindmaker said it’s not so maybe if I changed my stat allocation things would’ve gone quicker.
I was playing with moderate lag. Perhaps its considerably easier with lower ping.
I wish we had some kind of way to really compare dex and str, I have seen so many posts that said going with a lot more dex than str was better because dex scaled beter somehow but it seems to me that later on you would lack damage and crit very low damage anyway.
