Population dropping again?

IMC has made an insane amount of money off ToS and as a company are not in trouble at all.

For Korean and JP it should be good, for us? Not so much, the problem here, if things are really as we think, is that we got a group of devs that don’t know what they are doing, implementing any patch without checking if it’s ok and that is it.

As for such, we barely have any communication from staff, they only answer few things and generally in the report section (bug, bot/hack, etc…) and when we ask about something of importance, or make good suggestions, even when we tag their names, they don’t bother look.

At KR and JP, they don’t answer to the players, but to the publisher (Nexon), they have a contract to keep otherwise they will have to pay for breaking it.

You can say all you want we are 1 month late or ahead of KR in patches, but what is the point in that if they don’t check things and delivery to us an even more broken game than the other regions?

I played a bit in the JP server and things there are really different, the game ran smooth, haven’t saw any bots in low level areas, not to say that most of the costumes in iToS Exchange shop where in the TP shop instead.

And that is how imc is ripping these whales off, there simply isn’t many similar games. Seventh Dark is the only closest competitor.

Not going to happen unless they throw away whatever trash rendering code they are using. The game crashes even at a simple world boss situation.

This is kind of true. I grew tired of MMOs whose gameplay mechanics are similar to WoW, i.e the once engage enemy, plant the character and just press buttons in a set sequence. Sometimes in a while we get more interactions like moving out of the red circles/cones/boxes the monster generates. Hence games like FFXIV feels really dull and boring to me, no matter how nice and beautiful the graphics are.

Need more ARPG styled MMOs. ToS suits the genre but it needs more work to be a good game.

yup,exactly what’s lacking.

The game isn’t utilizing anything at all that is possible, be it debufffing mechanics (e.g. MVPs in RO sometimes use full strip or dispel to weaken the players, enchant undead element or critical wounds to stop them from healing, decrease agility to remove certain buffs and use fire pillar, demonstration, quagmire and so on to keep undergeared people moving) or promoting tactical combat (skills that enable tactical combat like e.g. Out of Body are way too weak while braindead skills like Limacon are extraordinarily strong without any downsides).

What’s worst is that the best buffs are on Archer C1-3 and Swordsman C1-3, making those builds even more ridiculous and stupid to play in contrast to the Cleric&Wizard gameplay that requires at least some tactical engagement because of skill range, cast time, animation delay,knockdown/-back cancel, etc.

And with the overwork of the defence of plate/cloth armor and shield defence as well as buffing Swell Right Arm and Aspersion (the formulas are now up to date on ktestbase), it’s pretty easy to have around 4k mdef and 4k def with the utilization of level 315 rare Cloth armor (i.e. Vienti Oksinis) upgraded to +6 and transed to stage 3 (overall pretty much achievable for everyone) + a non-transed level 315 rare or unique shield, not counting in any additional defence/magic defence from accessories or hair accessories.

Judging from the progression of monster attack and matk, this might as well last till Rank 11 or 12 (level 500-600) if you spread your stat points accordingly.
This means you can easily facetank everything thrown at you (especially since Gazing Golem protects against knockdown), further disencouraging players from moving/evading/whatever active action is required in AMOGs to guarantee survival.

This makes strategic Classes like Clerics/Wizards pretty much obsolete and weak because they can’t improve their damage as much (less attack skills/bad damage/cast skills not affected by ASPD {in contrast to ROs AGI[animation speed] and DEX[cast speed] e.g.}/setup time required that deals less or no damage at all).

The more you progress, the more the game becomes a classic MORPG where you just need good statbuilds and equip and the right skills to win 100% of the time.

This game needs some serious gameplay improvement features, especially enabling the monsters to use more player skills like e.g. Doppels Cyclone, Plague Doctors Disenchant, Sadhus Possession etc. where you need to move, + some other cool features like e.g. Disgaeas counter- (some monsters counter attacks, enabling up to 4 counter-chains) and backattack system (you deal more damage and have higher critchance when striking from the back or the flanks/sides; this should apply for monsters only to make being surrounded by monsters more dangerous).

And of course, monsters need to be able to pack/call for help, ignoring the monster limit per player and giving them some offensive or defensive bonus when a certain monster threshold is reached (similar to the Impossible Creatures Herding&Pack Hunter ability). It would be nice if every monster was categorized in either offensive or defensive category so that they can effectively support each other better without affecting the gear progression of the player as much.

Doing all this could make the usual gaming more enjoyable and prevent players from quitting as they’d feel having achieved something every time they call it a day.

Can’t see the latter bit of ur post ever happening even though it sounds cool. Maybe if the game was a massive success and IMC could throw money at it. Otherwise I’d expect that sort of thing only if the developers of a mmorpg had designed it into the game from the start.

Anyway, for that they’d need to change more easy things that will result in more players sticking to the game and returning to build up the desire for investment. For that, the obvious thing is a TERRITORY BASED GUILD WAR SYSTEM.

Imagine if Klaipeda was able to be under the control of a single guild for a duration - say a week - by way of a guild war system for example, how much effort would individual guilds put into the game for bragging rights. They’d be able to mess around with the design of it, for example having their guilds emblems all over the place, and get advantages based on it such as unique quests and dungeons, or implement a basic tax.

Sure a bit extreme, but add basic systems like this and you’d easily get a few k extra players (probably a few k just from the Brazil server by itself) that are interested in this sort of thing - they’ll be motivated by the chance for status, the ability to show off, by power, others will come along for the socialising and fun, then others will be attracted by easy money and lust for combat they get from getting involved with big guilds etc etc.

This game severely lacks in basic status enhancing mechanics that drive players into wanting to play more. Just endless kill/fetch/repeat one map to the next, hoping for something cool too happen.

It’s like working in mines with no girls around for 1000s of miles. You hit on a bit of gold here and there, but have nothing to spend it on. But whatever… I’m just wasting time until Dauntless & Monster Hunter World get released.

Actually, most of these things only happened in the later years of RO.
When RO started, it was pretty much alike to TOS, with less content and less customization, but a well-rounded stat system.
The world was more interesting, and it was actually a requirement to travel through the world on foot.

If only IMC would’ve decided to enable warping only via Dievs statues instead of enabling warp for everyone with the Vakarine statues all around the world…

Anyway, there’s still much room for improvement, so if they mix improvement updates with content updates like RO did after ~ 3-5 years of running time, the game might be an enjoyable game in the future. Currently it rather feels that you play an early-access alpha, but with too many features restraining you from exploring the world.

Gimmicks and hidden quests are way too scarce, too much generic stuff and not enough lore to feel as if it’s a real RPG. Gacha to fund the servers, client issues, etc make it even less of an enjoyment, especially if you have to compromise your playtime with daily chores, especially Saalus, dungeons&ET.

I mean who wants to progress with quests&lore if he’s max level and has limited time on his hands? Rather do daily necessities and become stronger than exploring and enjoying what’s there already.

Let’s just hope that the new adventurers journal revise will actually give something worth the exploration&collecting&questing (e.g. untradeable Blessed Gems so that people can progress through the story and still get their hands on Blessed Gems instead of enforcing daily Saalus).

Actually, a large scale Demon war would be enough, especially if you get punished for being outwitted/defeated by the demons.
E.g. the demons damage the Blacksmith ressources, making them unable to repair or socket your gears and also plunder the Squire Masters stash, so people will have their gear reduced to scrambles and have to actively contribute to the society by taking emergency quests to return to status quo before the attack.

Also, captured maps will have their Vakarine statues destroyed, forcing players to recapture the maps by walking over there & defeating hordes of demons + demon lords and collecting the pieces of the destroyed statue to reenable the warp. All maps should have some ressource significance, so if a territory gets lost, the society suffers a heavy blow, prices and market taxes increasing, less silver available for questing, etc.

This would actually make sense instead of fixating on GVG which is just lazy content because PVE isn’t any challenge in the game. PVE should have a huge economic impact and be actually worth it, with guilds contributing actively & defending their grounds against demons instead of fighting each other for TP and glory.

In RO it actually makes sense as the fate of the world is sealed (i.e. the “Ragnarok” where the old world is scrambled and people just live their lifes till the unavoidable event makes their world crumble), but wasn’t Tree of Saviour about fate&hope for a turning point? Striking the heads of others who’re supposed to save the world surely doesn’t make any sense.

Rather, being a better force for the peace and gaining glory and spoils through tactic combat experiences would be far more interesting and rise guilds to a new level of importance.
It also would introduce some reason why Demon Lords appear on the maps and make them a recognizeable force instead of just a hack&slay event-race for the cubes. If they just appear there to become prey to some players, it feels vane and stupid at best and lazy at worst.

Just love your idea about the PVE content, i also want it to be more global quest where every living savior invlove

Im getting out tired playing too… so boring now and much more boring… they should stop doing alot of gacha costumes and other stuffs that are for me is irrelevant, already the end game content is so vague and shallow to the point that you just wanna puke out all the costumes…

Come on IMC what else you want us to do with this game? Make 20more alts? And put all your gacha costumes?

Earth tower for instance is like a choir now and silver is really a scarce to obtain everything is difficult and just to suit up your main or what character you put all your effort just to make it better.

Really tired of seeing the same old thing over and over again.

GVG sucks, TBL sucks all are non sense.
We are expecting something… something to do and here is by the way my suggestion on GVG.

Idea of the War: Check Mate
Mechanics:

  1. Assemble guild to 15 vs 15 teams
  2. 1 will tag as King
  3. Point A to Point B Horizontal clash
  4. Protect the King at all times
  5. The First king dies points to the guild.
    Rules:
  6. No Bad mouthing or Insults
  7. No KOS on respawn spots. Killing on respawn spots is disqualified
  8. No Ressurection of Kings until Identified dead.
  9. No Usage of Charms and dispeller.
  10. King cannot be a Scout.
  11. Can put on Camp near the King for Respawn.
  12. Handicap 3 cleric per guild 1:5 per team party.
  13. 5 Rounds of dedicated clash.
  14. Other guild member that are watchers, bystanders cannot initiate any skills or draw to kill opposite guild vice versa.
  15. Alternate guild sequence attack and defend mode.

This is what we are planning to do by the way to play and have some worth gaming for.

This type of GVG is the set that we will do to alter your bad side. And just have fun.

We will improvise instead.

people who are tired or bored of this game should just take a break for a bit. nothing wrong with it, i take breaks from games often and have more after i come back from the break.

@kitelink this is not 100% true

games should be made so that you can play this game all-day-long … look at WoW or FF14 or even Wildstar and ESO

these kind of games gives you many things to do after you hit lvl cap

i want to play ToS with good endgame stuff and not only daily shi-t like Saalus and ET

i want variety in endgame content !

Rank 9 will be the last chance for IMC to git good or sink the game, in the meanwhile people need to make silvers or saalus runs to be prepared too.
You have weapons +16 that can sink 100 millions, gems rank 10 250 millions worth, attributes 300 millions (rank 8) so if they make 3 6 months break and the game became “decent” they would fall behind too much.

A hell of a bunch of Nostradamuses are playing ToS, I say.

If you want an ARPG just go play Path of Exile 3.0 just released, there’s also Marvel Heroes that’s pretty damn good right now (Don’t play console version though).

For those complaining about FFXIV being a wow-clone, I agree with you and don’t like that kind of MMO, and haven’t since almost forever. If you do want something non-WoW clone but want an MMO and not an ARPG there’s also MapleStory (recent changes making 5th job actually decent), Ragnarok Online’s Re:Start, BDO, and quite a few more. Just gotta do some research on checking if old games got better or recent changes, and not just the new ones/big ones.

I’m putting my hopes on IMC realizing and fixing the major issues around R9, or by end of year, but there are still some they clearly haven’t since beta, so my hope may never be realized

time to start v2

I think V2 should be named: “Population dropping even more”

Anyway, I don’t think it’s worth discussing this even more, IMC tries to effectively destroy their own game with the recent changes and all they do/cause is a change in meta/game approach.

Leather-meta will be exchanged with Cloth-/Plate-meta again (simply because they make the game too easy now), afk-content(i.e. fishing system) has limitations, ingame stuff is still repetitive (Saalus,ET) and the battle system is still bad, even with all those field boss changes, elite monsters and hunting grounds.

Best time to take a break from the game and see if there will be any real improvements, because if there aren’t, it’s probably not even worth to start again later on.
