Eh nothing in R8 compared to the crap that RO MVP mobs would pull.

Earthquake by itself was easy enough to deal with by just having your main group under a Mag Earth…

It was when they combined Spell AoE with Hell’s Judgement, which could only be blocked by Pneuma, that ■■■■ got ridiculous.

Do I even dare to talk about RO PvP? (WoE). Power creep in that game is so intense that it became an on-click KO fest.

hakkyu kim quit the game after release, when it had only 5 classes with no branch system and no rebirth.

I’m aware but he is making the almost same stupid mistake as someone else here? Things going into extremes where you have to abuse invulns just to live because trying to actually tank is stupid.

The game is not about the holy trinity, it took the action part from other recent games like guildwars 2 where there’s no tank.
Also the game’s appeal is gimmickness itself, it resembles diablo in many ways especially with that Agny plot twist and all the % damage stacking.
The problem is not FUNKing earth tower, reaching level 300 puts you in TOP 1500 adventure journal lmao, you are top 3000 after leveling to 200, and it takes me 2 weeks AT MAXIMUM.
Western players crying about this game are totally clueless about everything, that’s why jTOS it’s better. The game is basically the same. It’s the funking players my friend.

PS: It’s obvious that to push the latest party pve content you need extreme gear and abusive mechanics in a game like this.
In Diablo 3 you can literally see people with maxed equips quit and join greater rifts until they have the PERFECT one to actually SURVIVE IT and push the leaderboard.

If you really want to blame this game for something, well, it should be the time it’s taking to fix damn exploits.
I funking bet my balls that half the bugs are a result of the coders writing shish comments and being totally unable to cooperate.
For the rest? I don’t really care.
This game’s pvp is already like ragnarok, you die in 1 second and you kill in 1 second.

Btw, there’s no tanking on ragnarok. you literally sit inside safety wall and pneuma in pve. Everything oneshots you.

EDIT2: There’s no real pve outside of farming items for WOE in ragnarok but a gimmick tower with bosses you facetank by sitting into pneuma/safety wall with an alchemist spamming bombs on them.
PVP is literally a mass war with a lot of people oneshotting each other and spamming potions hoping the next hit is going to leave you at 1 hp instead of 0.
I doubt SOMEONE would ever cry about that game’s netcode ain’t it?
Even with 60 ping you needed 300ms to move for how bad it was coded and they had to put a bandaid that limited how bowling bash worked to avoid it oneshotting in WOE since they coded the game like FUNKShiSH.

The point is that 90% of the kiddies crying for the second coming of ragnarok played on unofficial edgy servers with naruto custom equip and 5000x exp.

PS: i’ve played RO for 10+ Years.

Only after Renewal, though. Pre-renewal it was actually not like that at all, especially because of the reduction from gear & cards in % which could be stacked.

imo Pre-Transcendence RO was GOAT. The meta was balanced, and while there was a one-shot in the form of Asura Strike it could be countered with Sage Dispell.

Hunter’s were only meant to ankle snare stuff as their bow damage was garbage in any geared PvP match, and auto AAing only worked outside of GvG. ASPD Knights were a joke, they came back as decent post transcendence but went downhill due to how easy they get countered, even on PVE.

The most viable way to MVP post 2-2 was casting Asura with Yggs in hands.

That’s a good subject to be brought up, even if it happened years ago. Even though Ragnarok is put onto a pedestal here the game was and still is flawled. Sometimes nostalgia is delusional.

It’s interesting how you guys are talking about RO while in Indonesia, right on today, new official RO is launching its OBT. The same old game, new regional server, published by Gr*vity themselves, and with the original patch (5 classes no branch). People with nostalgic enthusiasm are currently riding on the train. 100k have registered. And, yep, I’m still doing my daily Saalus & 145 tonight.

I was speaking more to the pvp meta than anything. Hunters still had plenty to do in WoE.

Arrow Shower with status effect cards comes to mind, and yes Ankle Snaring was enough to justify bringing 2-3 hunters.

just one thing make me happy about this week patch… the N key finally fixed y-y

If the exp/quests were like RO, this game’s population would be 100 players.

Hmmm in my case i remember seeing very skilled hunters who can manipulate traps very well in PvP matches. I’ll try to find videos of them…

i’ve got so many invites from private servers too, but i declined all of them. If ever one of those local private servers get updated up to the ones in iRO, i might give it a try. I mean, yes, renewal kinda changed things, but i still wanna see my characters progress as much as possible and not stay stagnant like those of private servers.

I also enjoy the stories and quests in RO. Maybe that’s why i disliked most privater servers.


pre-renewal is reminiscent of TOS wherein BiS weapons were low level and 4-slotted, just like gems and five hammers here

They later removed the arrow shower trap manipulation…RIP skid trap self relocation.

Was it arrow shower or charged arrow or both? can’t remember now… there were pilots who were so good they can stack multiple traps and precisely aim / push them wherever they wanted (as long as the range allows)
