I like the exploding enemies, I don’t really mind it. Though it would be weird if we explode when we die xD
hihihihihihihihihihi
There’s nothing “old-mmo” about explosions.
Having one generic explosive death for all monsters is plain lazy.
A lot of old rpgs and mmos used this…so, ya, like it or not, it’s something that can be considered “old-mmo-ish”.
I insist, I like the explosion thing. If you dont well, sht happens…also, I highly doubt they’ll do all the death animations at this point.
Name one non-trash old MMO that had explosive deaths.
“Name one non-trash”
Sorry but I dont know you…so I dont know what is considered “Trash” for you. Also, you seem like the kind of person who will say “that’s trash” whenever i come up with an example (use google there are, at least, dozens of rgs that used this).
So you got nothing? ok
“you got nothing?”
You are funny and you are really trying hard to be an ass…it’s more like “the list is too huge to even bother posting it”…just go and play any old Zelda game, is that easy to find old rpgs that do this, unless you think those are trash (Ex: Link to the past, ever heard of it?).
But if they wouldn’t explode, my planned Necromancer would have nothing to play with.
Also it’s damn metal to me to use the pieces of defeated monsters and hurl them at their comrades. <3
Why are you bringing up single player games when we talk about this “old-mmo” thingy. You are just moving goalposts.
Initially, what I meant to say was “old-rpgs”, but I’m quite sure there are old mmo’s mimicking the mechanics of the single player rpgs. I’m at work right now, so I can only pop games out of my head…if you are really interested in knowing I can look it up for you when I get home, but I cant help to feel like you are just being an ass and dont really care about the subject, it’s pretty clear what I meant to say in the first post.
I’m not being an ass, you just made a blunder and backpedaling hard.
Yes, you are an ass, and you love being one. I could get home and look for mmos where the enemies explode and keep posting here for days…but you are not worth it.
I’m not “backpedaling” because of a “blunder”, I’m “backpedaling” because I dont think you are worth of my time…so it’s the easier way out of the discussion.
However, enough with explaining myself, I’m done with you.
Nice comeback, too bad you can’t add anything substantial other than calling me names.
Seriously.
Can you guys maybe stop derailing this thread and go back to your christian imageboards if you want to discuss things without examples and highly theoretical as well as EXTREMELY subjective arguments?
We were talking about thread specific theme. Your post on other hand contributed nothing to it.
I’ll stop feeding after this, but don’t you think that you should maybe improve your arguments in order to not just send theories without evidence to one another to get to some sort of solution?
On the other hand: I already contributed to the thread constructively 19h ago.
All I did was asking for evidence to back up his claim. There’s nothing to “improve my arguments”. It seems to me he bailed out, so is there a reason why you decided to butt in into discussion when it’s already over?
Alright back to topic for a change.
The idea of having a death animation might be nice but in my opinion wont fit into a game with this kind of atmosphere.
Take d2 for an example, it had a really dark ambient so seeing monsters die, blood splattered all over the floor etc. contributed to the overall game experience. (Although it irked me personally when you are grinding levels at the cow level or baal throne and monsters took longer to spawn and die than to actually fight, some animations also became a little boring after seeing it a million times)
Different example:
Now this is not an mmorpg but a jrpg, and a great one at that, if someone doesnt agree come fight me.
Recettear!
It had a really lighthearted feel to it, same camera angle and all that.
Defeated monsters would explode into a pile of crystals, scattering all over the floor only to end up scurrying towards your character and turning into money (iirc).
It may not be super original or entertaining but it doesnt get old even after killing 100s or more monsters.
And most importantly, it didnt make you feel like a psychopath slaughtering cute bunnies and other cute looking cuddlies.
Back to ToS, which clearly tries to achieve a lighthearted and relaxing experience without doubt.
Grinding will be big in this game and not just grinding one monster at a time but dozens.
Even if you gave them a cute death animation (my god that sounds perverse) im afraid that even well done animations will simply turn stale after a short while, add to that farming porings will turn into quite a depressing matter.
I wish each mob had their own unique death animation I really liked that in RO.
