Knowing the rates of the better stuff in their cubes,I honestly donāt think itāll have much of an effect.
A game is either p2p pay-to-play or itās p2w pay to win.
Thereās no middle ground. Corporation that makes the game needs revenue to pay for the staff and infra-structure of the game.
Only some games are more or less p2w then others. But if a game is free to play, it will certainly have a degree of p2w.

Path of Exile, unlike pretty much everything else on the market, is actually more a labor of love than a shareholder company project. They arenāt really in things for profit (within reasonableness) and often times in their dev blog posts have shown they were just happy the game made enough money to continue surviving. But thatās not an attitude any company beholden to shareholders can actually take (Grinding Gear Games is privately owned. Most MMOs canāt survive on the limited funding of a privately owned company, but Path of Exile, if you can call it an MMO, is one of the few exceptions. ā¦possibly the ONLY exception. And again, itās not really that profitable so much as just āmakes enough money to survive, and the developers and owners are happy with that.ā)
Also, itās not an Asian MMO 
Thereās just so many things culturally different about P2W there than over here (to the point where a lot, but not all, Asian MMO players actually LIKE P2W) that ToS is actually very very light on the P2W compared to almost everything else there.

tos itās not competitive itās an endless rush to farm items to get more items.

Game went P2W already, and now this? Thereās no point in arguing again about this subject, ToS became 100% P2W, simple as that.
Hopefully, thanks to this, private servers will start to make sense. Would love to play again in a no P2W environment.

I donāt know why people keep mentioning private servers. It isnāt going to happen without a codeleak. Private servers only exist for RO/WoW because the server code leaked.
IMO they know ToS is already dead, theyāre just trying to grab what the can before the ship reaches the bottom.
if you work from 9 am to 8 pm etc etc, how do you find the time to do the shopping, cleaning, cooking, socialize, spend time with your girl/boy friend, spend time with family heck how do you even get to work and back traffic jams trains running late etc? Now how do you even find the time to play any game at all with a schedule like that.

What makes you think itās dead?
They just literally doubled our versions players base with the combat rebalance update, and it hasnāt started going down yet, despite all this drama.
Currently we have terrible pvp content and they have plans to improve it in near future as well as rank 9 coming. Thereās a huge potential to elevate the population even higher than it currently is.
The game is very very far from dead. Itās not perfect but itās improving, thereās some unfortunate things but hopefully weāll see less of things like this in the future.
(I do hope they do something about dpk in general since itās still a huge issue theyād want to sort out tho.)
