IMC Optimization

Opt-IMC-ized at it finest~~~

i got banned on my other account for posting only this photo in a thread

I’m honestly scared to see what is going to happen after IMC has had atleast 4 hours to poke through their code considering what they manged to do last night in1 hour.

If the last maintenance was any example we should be logging into headless floating ā€œthe grudgeā€ style avatars all locked into 1 map with blood thirsty, horny Lv 580 vubbe miner goblins chasing anything that moves down to either kill it or mate with it.

It looks like we’ll be getting some more optimisation options so it will be interesting to see what they exactly do. If I had to take a guess, some of what they did in the optimisation patch didn’t work on all systems, so with this new option there will be some kind of ā€˜compatibility’ mode for the ones that crash.

This isnt FFXIV though, its not like we have cutting edge graphics. ToS had an extensive beta period and has been live internationally since April of last year. There is absolutely no excuse for them to not have a functioning and stable product by now.

Sorien alone who is not some black hat super genius hacker from the movies, just a normal guy with programmer and coding know-how can single handily bring down this game whenever he chooses. Things need to change, the past 72 hours is actually the worst I have seen it, and we have seen some pretty horrific things here since Founder’s access.

Perfectly reasonable feelings. It is important to remember though that MMO’s are incredibly complex, IMC is a smaller company, and that the game has been improving. That being said, it does not excuse the issues we’ve had and IMC must improve.

The easiest place IMC can start is in communication, the recent optimisation Dev Blogs were perfect examples on what to do. The Staff were even answering questions about it in the maintenance post. If IMC were able to communicate they way they did then more often, I can only imagine how much more content the community would be. The recent problems are interesting examples of both improvement and maintaining an unsatisfactory status quo. IMC was actually quite quick to deal with the issue, with only about 14 hours until the temporary maintenance, and considering the exploit was posted at about 12AM Korean time that really isn’t that bad. Obviously the problem is the patch caused problems of its own, not to mention the exploit should have never existed in the first place, then of course there was the second exploit that was posted which also should have never existed. My point is, IMC has shown very clear signs of improvement (even if it’s difficult to see at times) and there is so much potential. I just hope that IMC listens closer to player feedback, improves at a faster rate, and releases some Kepa themed content and really utilises the potential TOS has.

minor correction, it was posted around 8.30 pm

The exploit didn’t gain traction til about 7AM PST which is 12AM Korean time. (I’m talking about the initial exploit if I didn’t make the clear.)

yes for NA servers, but it was actually posted earlier at 8.30pm korea time. SEA servers were on fire immediately :sparkles:
