IMC : Closing ToS for new players to fix general problems

It’s something I’ve wanted them to do for a while, albeit my idea was to completely close the server for fixes. So I’m happy.

I’m really worried though about the game’s population. I always feel like new players should always be coming in, but perhaps it’s better if they come in to a working game versus just coming in and quitting.

I have no idea, hahahaha. I found a video on youtube, can’t even understand the gameplay. Lel.

Personally i think is a great decision. Right now(after closing access) they have a controlled number of account active. This will allow them to weed out the bots to the point of extinction since they wont be able to create new account.

The sample size is big enough that hopefully they can fix the lag, and implement at least some kind of measure in the event of a spike in players.

Also hope they work on the current system in the game like how even after towers are dead wars keep going with no point, or that many wb dont even move and just stutter around like some broken AI.

In that same note im hoping for some skill and class balancing.

All the above assumptions are my hopes for change that could turn many of the naysayers into thumbs up players. Either way i think it was a great move by IMC to limit/close the game to new players for now.

There’s nothing to judge. This has been necessary since day one. If they thought of it before, then my guess is they didn’t expect to be able to fix the server software and infrastructure in the long run so they feared they would loose too many customers.

The crux is you have to openly justify it and lay out your plan so people can adapt and either visit later or queue up. Dragging it out without an ETA is just another upcoming train wreck.

I just downloaded ToS monday and played about an hour and a half last night, now I can’t play during the day because I have satellite internet, but from midnight to around 6am is a free period when they don’t count your usage.

I do like this game (even though the server lag is annoying) main reason I started playing is because my friend wanted me to give it a try.

So my question is since I’m so new am I not gonna be able to play? I can’t really answer this myself since the speed during the day is crap so I’d have to wait til tonight.

If you already got an account and downloaded the game, you should be good.

I hope so, gotta wait 9 hours before I can check.

I will be genuinely surprised if they actually managed to solve the server lag and poor optimization issue. This seems like a fundamental problem with the entire game.

I really hope they do… but its definitely gonna take a while to find out where errors are in the coding…that and let alone deal with the other problems not server/ fps related…

I can deal with almost any other gameplay related problems as long as the game just runs smoothly.

I don’t mind a little bit of thread necromancy especially when it can prevent me from remaking an already existing topic. Here’s where I chime in and to be frank there is a lot of negativity surrounding this game and to be clear a game I’ve yet to even play. I recently found out about this game from some friend roughly 5 days ago. I have noticed right away the Ragnarok aesthetic of this game which presses my nostalgia button pretty hard. However, I cannot play this game and most of the people I speak too have nothing good to say about it. The ending days of Ragnarok Online for me where rife with the same kind of stigma from it’s community. I only want to know two things and I’ll be upfront with my current expectations to be let down on both regards. I’d like to know if there is any rumor mill or current eta on letting new players back in and if the toxicity of the community is felt this hard in the game as it is on other sites. Really I am a very tolerable person when it comes to spammers/bots or similar ilk but when it comes to hate and negativity surrounding a game in which you play I have a troubling time accepting that. I just want to know for myself first hand if this game is fun and is the online comminuty under this veil of shade they’ve thrown over the contraversy underneith a welcoming place.

lol more then 1 week im w8ing

if you’re from asia or brazil then go away, don’t wait. We’re full.

With the exception of queue times, less players really makes the game a better experience because it means less competition for those overly-limited spawns and especially those overly-limited world bosses. Of course, that’s IMC’s fault for designing the game like that in the first place, but I’m rather enjoying having things to kill instead of things being overcrowded, now.

If IMC ever does open the servers back up, I hope there are more channels or something to support the increased player base. shrug
