full dex, damage can be compromised as red gem are huge improvement to add up massive damage, and also no con as there are tons of equipment that provides hp and con
for a dragoon c2, getting some str for block penetration is essential because there are many builds who have very high natural block,
us lancers have initiate, and full dex dragoons will NOT be able to bypass initiate, not to mention stone skin and full con wizards
i would say a good hybrid 1:1 str:dex split with a min of 100 con is great for a dragoon build, i would put block penetration gloves on a high accuracy gloves, and transcend the gloves so you can make up for the missing accuracy. (HIGHLY recommend virtov plate or demonas)
As a full DEX Catagoon2, 1 x Glass Bracelet + Cata’s 2h-spear block pen attribute alone has somewhat allowed me to decently pierce through a high-CON Monk with Stone Skin on.
Forgot to record a vid back then but I’ll try later when servers are up and if I remember doing so. Anyone can remind me if you really need proof. XD
Might not be the same with a Lancer on Initiate though. Perhaps Yellow Gem on gloves and more block pen gear (noticed some post-270 ones having this stat IIRC) might help but that skill is as mysterious as Cata’s block pen attribute.
Anyhoo, I still think it boils down to playstyle.
If anything, as a Catagoon2 I’ve learned that you don’t go 1-on-1 with a skilled Lancer (especially a Corsair one) no matter what your build is. Instead, you focus on bursting down his teammates, and let your cleric/wiz allies deal with him. 2v2 and 1v1 might be exceptions as you don’t have any other choice but to deal with them. A Lancer on Ausrine and/or Bloodletting/Prophecy and/or R7F is absolute bad news - stay away or prepare your @ss.
If you really like teamplaying with a Cataphract, I’d recommend that you go Lancer. Sw3 Cata3 Dragoon Lancer has an easier PVE life compared to Sw3 Cata3 Corsair Lancer is the most PVP-oriented of all popular Lancer builds. You’ll survive longer in battle and will aid your teammates better.
Catagoon2 has its merits but oftentimes it’s a matter of whether your team and/or the enemy team has Ausrine, R7F, Revive, a Cryo, a Kino, etc. — meaning, your burst power relies on team composition — so Team Battle League matching can f*ck up with your play.
I’m not trying to shoo you away from playing the same build as I did because it’s no doubt fun, but make sure it fits your playing style.
To end, check out @DieHardLancer’s guide below to help you with your decision:
I´want to make a lancer now and i was farming 2-3 weeks for it…
(Still feels like a bot ~.~)
Just want to ask if i farm the right stuff:
+9 cata pike 3x lvl 6 red gem
2x sissel (Still BB but got the mats/recipes)
Petaimon
+9Lydeka
I still got 10m left is there any eq i need?
And how expensive is the rush attribute?
Scrap the Lydeka. You’ll easily breeze past lv.75 to 120 (~rank 5) nowadays.
Just get any white lv.75 2h spear and you’re good. At 120, a Galin Trident (+1 to all Cata skills) can come in handy but not necessary. At 170, you’ll already be able to use your Cata pike anyways.
I’m not sure about Sissel, but I guess it’s worth it for PVP. I’m more of a 2 x Rhevisan Bracelet guy. For Peta, make it a Max Peta.
For plate top and pants, Virtov - or Grynas if you’re willing to spend more or already have those. IMO by 330, Lolo plate top and pants is still BIS until you get the Solmiki parts.
