I guess you haven’t been following the dev blog much, if you think there’s no historic references in ToS, LOL.
I followed everything about this game, this is one reason which I regret the current pathetic state of the game.
You have no arguments? Because no, there is no historic references in ToS world. And no, a pirate class isn’t a historic reference or make ToS a “Game of pirates”.
I’m not swallowing anything, I just happen to like almost everything in the game.
My only gripes with the game are all the bosses being tank and spank for the most part and lacking mechanics.
Dungeons also lacking mechanics (Which is strange, because they have grind maps that have interesting mechanics that you can interact with, yet they didn’t do anything interesting for the actual dungeons)
And the fact that while there’s a lot of classes, being unique is super hard because it’s insanely easy to min-max the class path and end up with a cookie cutter build. Though they have unique items, which give me hope about this.
Like the item that makes Sadhu’s OOB auto-attack scale with spirit, instead of intelligence. Which gives you an option to go with different stats distribution.

I happen to like the boots, too.
A lot of the classes in ToS are based on real things from history. If you missed the posts saying so, that’s your problem.
As for what you consider to be a reference, well…I don’t really give a ■■■■.
Whether the boots are a reference or not, it doesn’t even matter. I like the boots and wouldn’t like them to be changed.
But they fit corsair, as it is a pirate class. I’m sure I can find legit reasons for other classes to have these type of boots, but I don’t want to waste my time looking up ■■■■ to prove it.
Bottom line is that you don’t like these boots and some people do. ■■■■ off.

No, I am talking about ToS, as magic has been rather dominate at the current end game due to poor stats system. The Rank 7 classes are rather more powerful, and lower rank classes do not scale in many cases (they claimed this allows people to make mistake at lower rank, which is BS to me).
